Amstel Cup

if the report I read on Sporting Life's Holland page , that's the same page that has Trabelsi close to a return for next year ;) , is correct, the halve-final should be sponsored by a hospital. The report states that Kevin Bobson, Anouar Hadouir, Danny Mathijssen, Jos van Nieuwstadt, and Michel Kreek are certain to miss out while Kenny Agustien and Raymond Victoria are doubts for Willem II.
For Ajax, Rafael van der Vaart, Hatem Trabelsi, Mauro Rosales, Anthony Obodai, and Rasmus Lindgren are mentioned as being out.
Tomas Galasek is mentioned as a probable for the bench in one report I read.I'd definitely be glad to see Tomas back. I'd love to see him convert a late peno to give us a cushion and salt the game away.My dream scenario.

I'm actually quite happy it's PSV (unlike some of you). They're a (much) better team than F-Word, quite obviously, but:
1. I really want to take revenge for the recent home game at the ArenA and given Ajax's current form we actually might (at least we won't look like a bunch of idiots against them this time).
2. p$v have a very busy schedule: they can win the championship on Saturday, but the official celebrations will be on May 8th due to the AC Milan games. At the end of what's been a long and heavy season for them they will be tired and possibly not 100% interested in the Amstel Cup.
3. Their fanbase is neither as dangerous nor as large as that of Feyenoord. The last time they were in the cup final they didn't even manage to sell their entire ticket allocation and their fans often refuse to travel on a 'combi' (which this final surely will be for both teams). Their 'army' will be fairly small, which increases the chance that we'll actually get a 'normal' allocation (and that we can play at De Kuip).
So: come on, Ajax! Do the business against Willem II and let's repeat the cup final of 1998 (Ajax v p$v 5-0).

I agree with Kowalcyzycyzyzychk. I'd rather see Ajax play PSV (assuming they win tonight of course). Why? Because they are the best team in Holland this year. And rather than look for the easiest opposition, I want Ajax to prove that this recent run of form is no fluke, and beat the best. Plus it will give us some small measure of bragging rights, and leave us fans with somewhat less of a bitter taste at season's end.

Re: Feyenoord vs PSV: 1-1
FWIW, the equalizer was scored by Damarcus Beasley. :xyxthumbs: Good to see a Yank helping waylay the cockroaches, even if he plays for PSV. Shame he doesn't play for Ajax... :nooo:Kowalczyk schreef:Feyenoord once again conceded a goal in the last minute (well, okay, the 89th...): 1-1 final score. Game's now in extra time.
PSV deserved the goal, I must say. Two goals by Robert were disallowed in the second half - God knows why (both should have stood). It was great to see Ruud Gullit stare at the sky when the ball went in... :D

I'm quite happy it's P$V....it's the best challenge to see if we've really shaken off the bad case of Koemanianitis we were suffering from....and a chance for revenge after that dreadful performance so many of us suffered through recently.
“If I wanted you to understand it, I would have explained it better.”
I am afraid they will have nothing but the Cup final to worry about for the last 15 days of May. Because they will certainly have secured the land title in the meantime. And probably been eliminated by AC Berlusconi in the CL.Kowalczyk schreef: 2. p$v have a very busy schedule: they can win the championship on Saturday, but the official celebrations will be on May 8th due to the AC Milan games. But I dream of another 98 Ajax - p$v final .....

We lost.....to Willem II.....in Tiburg....!!! :nooo: X'C I just looked up the score on vi.nl and although my dutch isn't good I sort of knew "Willem II leert Ajax hoe te scoren" with a picture of a celebrating Willem player wasn't good even before I'd found the score.
I don't think we've lost in Tilburg for years so it had to be this one - it's that sort of season, just when you think things are on the up and the bad days are behind us this happens.
I was quite looking forward to a PSV final as well, a chance to get rid of those 4-0 blues and even if we lost it wouldn't have been the clowns convention of last month.
Oh well, I suppose I'll have to dig out the re/white/blue for cup final day :eusa_pray: :eusa_pray: :eusa_pray: although I feel it will be a stroll in the park for PSV.
No trip to "De Hems" for me this year then.

Guys, don't forget that this is a 'general' Amstel Cup thread, for discussions about the cup competition in general and games between other teams than Ajax in particular.
There is a separate thread for every Ajax game. The one about Willem II vs Ajax is here.

PSV won the Double, by beating Willem II 4-0 in the final of the Amstel Cup. What a fantastic season they've had this year.Kowalczyk schreef:Guys, don't forget that this is a 'general' Amstel Cup thread, for discussions about the cup competition in general and games between other teams than Ajax in particular.

Good point from my good mate Louis XIV a.k.a. Baggy.
Only reply with 'quote' if you actually want to quote something and respond to it directly. Otherwise, just press 'post reply' for an empty text body. Also, try to quote specific passages you want to reply to. Quoting a ten paragraph 'footlong' post in its entirety - and then respond "Well said!" or "I agree" doesn't make much sense.
People who break this 'houserule' will not be shot, banned or even warned. Just a guideline.

Is this a new survey? Mine says that as well.
