20 OCT 2024; Heracles - Ajax; Match Day 7
A trip to Almelo this coming Sunday following the International Break. Hato and Brobbey both played against Germany last night. Hato had a couple of problems but otherwise was one of the better players. Brobbey got no help from his teammates.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Just watching Farioli’s pre game interview on NL TV. I have to say I find him pretty impressive.
He’s clearly a football nerd and very happy to discuss his choices. No doubt this will eventually get him in trouble with the Dutch pundits as they love second guessing managers with the benefit of hindsight.
Anyway I like him and we need a manager to stick around for a longer spell so I hope the club don’t fire him in the winter. Not his fault the squad is poor.

Only Berghuis unfit ,Brobbey starts and Klaassen and Henderson start with Fitz-Jim sub.Dutch pundits moan about Farioli changing the team around but we play 2 games a week and you cannot start with the same 11 every game.
I may not be able to watch all the 2nd half , my son phoned and asked did we want granddaughter for a couple of hours on our own. Ajax is mega important but my 13 month old Mia comes before everything. Will keep my eye on the score and hope we win as we will then be level 3rd with Feyenoord. Need to win by 3 clear goals to be 3rd but I would settle for a 1-0 even if its another injury time header by Weghorst.

I don’t understand why KNVB refs ignore fouls on Brobbey. All Dutch teams are now playing hack-a-Shaq on him except the ref never calls it. It’s very obvious.
Not his fault but he does need to control his frustration.

What a 1st half. Ajax defence poor on the 1st but cannot really blame Pasveer for that 2nd as it was one of the best goals you will see.Klaassen again pops up and scores.

Well, HT and still in the game..but Brobbey??? In UK, he could have thumped that player and claimed self defence!! How can you be stamped on, and then be yellow carded!!
I'm sure that if he was "another colour", many refs would give fouls!!!
Just saying..but as for being racist...many officials only see black & white!!!

Managed to watch it all,Weghorst the hero 3 points thats all that matters
Re: 20 OCT 2024; Heracles - Ajax; Match Day 7
Any away win for this team is a great result.
The ref called utter crap in both directions all game. Foul on Weghorst for the pk looked light and the second yellow for the Heracles captain was pretty tame as well. Meanwhile no call when Traoré is tripped in the box and you’re allowed to sweep Brobbey’s legs out anywhere on the pitch… ok then!

Re: 20 OCT 2024; Heracles - Ajax; Match Day 7
What a whacky game but typical of the Eredivisie. Ajax had loads of possession and did a very nice job of getting the ball into the attacking area. Unfortunately, they struggled again to convert chances. Brobbey missed what should have been an easy goal early on and then had one saved by the keeper so he still is scoreless in league play. Defense showed frailties with both Sutalo and Baas not having great games. The first Heracles goal was one of those box scrambles and Ajax just could not get it clear. The second was the result of a lazy pass from Sutalo and great awareness from Engels to loft a ball that Pasveer was late in getting back on. Weghorst came on to save the day. I would note that the match official was quite poor. Brobbey was getting mauled all match long but only 20% of the time getting a call. The late sending off of the Heracles captain was a pretty light call. However, a win is a win!!!
Player Ratings:
Pasveer (5.5) - not convincing in his ball handling and kicking, maybe a younger keeper makes the save on the 2nd goal
Rensch (6.5) - decent match with some good passes
Sutalo (5.5) - at fault on the 2nd goal and had another dodge moment as well but was good in possession
Baas (5.5) - poor coverage late on an attacker who clanged the shot off the crossbar
Hato (6) - missed a coverage a couple of times but did move into space for outlet passes
Henderson (6) - easily dispossessed and then Heracles get the 3rd goal of the day, otherwise he was good
Taylor (6) - decent enough getting into the box with some good possession
Davy One Goal (6) - such a limited player who is too slow these days and his passing has never been good BUT he pops up in the box and scores
Tarore (6.5) - good with the ball and finished a very nice chance to tie the match at 2-2
Brobbey (5.5) - persistently fouled all match and unlucky with one chance and poor with another, the goals will eventually come but when?
Godts (6) - decent enough game but still doesn't recognize a double team quickly enough
Fitz-Jim (6) - such good play with the ball, not sure he had a bad pass
Weghorst (7.5) - saved the day with a free header and calm PK
Gaaei (NR) - on late
Rasmussen (NR) - on late
Rugani (NR) - on late
Dicey trip to Azerbaijan coming up in the Europa League against an opponent I know nothing about. Three league games in quick succession against Willem II, Feyenoord and PSV. Ajax are now level on points in third behind PSV and a surprising Utrecht side that just keeps winning games.

Re: 20 OCT 2024; Heracles - Ajax; Match Day 7
Two consecutive narrow escapes against bottom teams. Today 3 conceded goals.
Thank god for the three points. But against better teams we have to do better. At least at the back.

Re: 20 OCT 2024; Heracles - Ajax; Match Day 7
Reading Dutch lads on this site and have to agree Sutalo is struggling again but today Baas was poor.Maybe time for Rugani to start.Just hope we can get another winger in January .Traore and Godts are ok but as back up Rasmussen is barely good enough for Eredivisie and Gaaei as a winger a joke.
Problems wont go away until at least next summers transfer period. We have about 14 or 15 decent squad players but about 8 or 9 who should not be here Gaaei,Wijndal,V d Boomen ,Tahirovic,Mannsverk( maybe see how he is when fit), Akpom ,Rasmussen. Banel and Gorter not really 1st teamers but not good enough.
