New Players for Ajax

Rijkoff confirmed by Ajax.nl. He will train with Ajax1 and play in the Jong for this season. I assume things will change if Akpom leaves in the next 3-4 hours

Our 1st summer signing 16 year old Belgium CD Jorthy Mokio from Gent on a free to June 2027. Bayern, PSV and Barcelona all wanted him but he chose us as he sees his chances here are better. Seems like we did not offer as much as these others but will pay a considerable fee to him and his family from any transfer.This seems a great idea as he will unlikely to leave at 19 on a free but hopefully sign again at 18 thus we sell him and he cashes in.

He played for Gent in the playoff games and is rated a hugh talent .Will start in Jong but will probably debut for 1st before too long. A LCD but we may use him as a RCD

This is strange as we have Dies Janse who likely will start at LCB for Jong Ajax. I don't know why reports came out that Mokio is a Hato replacement. Janse must have been pretty angry about that.

Another foreign kid signed. 16 year old left winger Daniel Skaarud from Lillestrom for a few hundred thousand.He plays for Norway u17 and is 17 in Sept.Assume he will play for our u19.We dont have much success with foreign youths in recent years

Looks like we might sign our former on loan player, Bertrand Traore, who is available on a free transfer from Villareal. We was more than decent under Bosz in the Europa League run and is still 28 years old. Don't know what the salary might be but this could be a good purchase

Traoré can’t be worse than Berghuis and Berghuis is also going to be on one of the bigger salaries. I think Dolberg was CF at the time and Traoré played RW? No reason this couldn’t work with Brobbey (who I rate better than Dolberg).

All very quiet on signings but again all quite on selling players.Deadline is 31 August so looks like it could be like last summer with players being signed at the end of the market .

I dont think we will see 12 new players this summer. 4 or 5max , another right winger, back up striker if Akpom leaves, a no 10 MF and a RCD.Its going to take 2 summers to sort out the mess of last summer

They wanted to sell Akpom but no English team wanted him.

I actually quite like Akpom as a backup striker so I was surprised that they seemed to be actively trying to move him on. Obviously he’s not a superstar, but he is an extremely professional player (something I find refreshing at Ajax) and gets the job done when he comes off the bench.

Have to wait and see how Weghorst compares, I recall him as an ok striker for AZ.

Sulemana's signing cancelled by FIFA ,papers submitted too late. In England clubs were allowed 2 extra hours to register !!

Not too sure this is a bad thing as he did not excel in the Championship last season. We now have Godts on the left ,Traore on the right with Berghuis as backup and Banel and Rasmussen are backups but I dont think either should be in Jong side both are poor.

Probably should have kept Forbs for another 4 months. So 2 wingers who wont play 90 mins ,4 strikers include Rijkhoff. MF is a mess.

Cannot blame Kroes although Bergwijn leaving so late has messed things up. We can still sign a free transfer winger but he cannot play in Europe games.

Not many on Showtime are happy but as a sub he does come on and get vital goals.I am very upset we did not keep Vos and Misehouy as the 3 players from last summer Tahirovic,Mannsverk and v d Boomen are not good enough and wont get much playing time.Berghuis,when fit,Taylor,Fitz-Jim, Henderson and Klaassen will be the MF and I dont think they are great.

Am I being hard on the 3 I dont rate? Well Ajax wanted Tahirovic and v d Boomen out and Mannsverk having missed a sizeable chuck of last season probably gets a year to show himself.

Misehouy was making ridiculous salary demands I think. They tried extending him, but he wanted a starting spot and high wages. I don't like us moving Vos either.

We have to survive somehow till the winter break and try and poach a left winger. Faberski is excelling at RW in Jong from what I'm reading and the few highlights I've seen.

The Vos situation was complicated. He apparently was displaying an attitude at the beginning of training camp and Farioli had some conversations with him that did not take. All of the other MFs bought into Farioli's plan with the system or the work required. I think this was the same type of problem Noa Lang had with EtH. ten Hag tried to take with him but Lang would not follow direction and was sent packing. Too bad as he was a talented player.

Misehouy has only played one match at Girona.

I've already read that Misehouy needs to prove himself at Girona and won't be treated with any special kid gloves. We shall wait and see if he somehow shines or goes the regular route back to the Eredivisie mid-table in 5 years.

Mention of 9 starters with no transfer fees makes me just say that I dont see us paying much money in January and maybe a left winger on loan . If we finish in the top 3 we can start to spend more next summer.

Just noting we have basically only 8 in the squad who cost over 5m( which is a small nominal amount) and only Brobbey and Sutalo will still be here and first choices come end of January.
Akpom ,Tahirovic, Wijndal were on the list last month and will go in January and Kaplan also will go ,likely on loan. Avila wont play for us again , if fit in January then loan. Magallan the 2nd. This leaves Mannsverk who due to injury probably will stay the season but is way down the order of MF and Mokio will get games ahead of him.

Summing up apart from Sutalo and Brobbey, who we lost for nothing and paid 16m 6 months later, all other signings these last 2 years over 5m have not been good enough .Akpom as back is the other exception.

Youth and loan and free transfers are this season going to get us at least 3rd. PSV champs, AZ Feyenoord(now on a slippery downward slope) and us for 2nd ,3rd and 4th.
