First home match of the season coming up on Sunday. Alvarez will be back in the selection after serving a one game suspension. Bassey is out for this one from the RC in the Cruyff Shield. I have not seen any reports of injuries.

Kudus wont start sadly, and Brobbey will be on the bench and come on in the second half. Berghuis to start along with Tadic in front of him. It's good to have experienced players but they are not as fast as the other two. Anyway at least Ajax have a plan B, I cant remember the last time they had that.

Wont be watching today.Will be going to Brighton to see live cricket and have a few drinks with mates.My watching will properly start next weekend. With temps of 30 degrees every day it does not fell like footy season yet. My son and new daughter in law are off to Barbados today on honeymoon and its actually lower temps than here on south coast of England.

Hope for 3 points today.

Ajax are running all over Groningen and could have scored 5.

I’m liking the look of this front 4 with Tadic playing the Litmanen role and Brobbey either running deep or backing in on his defender.

Defense is still a problem but Blind is really there for his passing more than anything so we will probably have to accept conceding a few goals.

Good first half other than the conceded goal. Ajax had good possession inside the offensive third with some shots that had to be well saved.

On a very hot day in Amsterdam, Ajax took their scoring chances well winning 6-1. It could have been worse for Groningen had it not been for some very fine saves from the keeper. Bergwijn with a hat trick was MOTM. Solid play from everyone other than getting caught out and conceding a cheap goal.

Player Ratings:

Passveer (6) - really had nothing to do and tried his best to cut down the angle on the goal
Rensch (6) - better game today but still is getting beat a little too easily
Timber (6) - didn't have much defending to do and got free deep in the box but could not put the header on frame
Blind (6) - good passing but his lack of quickness hurt when everyone was caught up field
Wijndal (6.5) - really did some good attacking down the left side
Alvarez (7.5) - disrupted everything in his area and had a great cross pass to Antony who cut in and scored
Taylor (7) - nice game with the ball at his feet and took good shot for his goal
Tadic (7) - solid game at 10 which is where he is likely to play going forward
Antony (7)- caused trouble for Groningen defenders all match long
Brobbey (6.5) - still a little clumsy when the ball is in at his feet in the box but was decent with his passing
Bergwihn (8) - wonderful game with three great goals
Klaassen (5) - on in the second half and hardly saw the ball
Berghuis (5.5) - took a nice PK following a hand ball
Lucca (5.5) - unleashed a wicked shot that was saved and seems to have good quickness for someone so tall
Schuurs (NR) - on late in what could be his last appearance in an Ajax shirt
Kudus (NR) - on late but had some good moments with the ball

A very easy win. Kept up to date at my cricket .We won our cricket and my footy team won so a good day. Will start watching next weekend.
