Top two teams square off on Sunday in Amsterdam. Both teams have to deal with mid-week Euro matches but PSV have the dreaded Thursday night Europa League match against Monaco and will have a shorter recovery time. Ajax will look for a measure of revenge for the loss in the Cruyff Shield match that opened the season. I will be out of town on holiday this weekend and don't know if I can get around to doing player ratings.

I watched the match and PSV were so much better but two defensive lapses were pounced upon by Monaco who otherwise could not complete more than a pass or two. Mandueke looked like he suffered a hamstring injury as he pulled up. Don't know about Gapko as he just went to the bench and not the training room.

Agreed - Madueke was definitely left hamstring strain/injury. Definitely won't be play against us.

Not sure about Gakpo. Won't be shocked if he does shows up on Sunday.

PSV defenders are generally not very good. We should be able to smack them this weekend.

Hope tomorrow sees us score 5 goals. Today I watched the 1st half of Ajax u18 on Youtube and they scored 5 ,finished 8-1.Then went off to watch my local side Worthing(Level 7 in England)and they won 5-4 so it would made a nice hattrick if we can stuff the lightbulbers with 5.

It's going to be a piss in the park, that's not me being arrogant that is an informed statement, Ajax have been winning big recently and are unlikely to drop their form, especially against rivals.

Gravenberch always plays sloppy in the first half then gets better in the second half, this can't continue, if it does, Kudus needs to be taken into consideration for his position. He has played there before and done well.

Well I hoped for 5 and we did so and stuffed them .Only moan my stream was not great in 2nd half and I missed 2nd goal but did not spoil watching this. Still only 10 games in but 4 points clear and I dont see PSV catching us,3 poor over the hill MF in V Ginkel Propper and Gotze.
(Didn't realise Gotze was on the field until he went off).

To make it a perfect weekend we just need Overmars to say he is not interested in Newcastle job.

Give PSV their due but until we got our 2nd they made us work harder than Dortmund did . Dutch no 2 and German no 2 were still basically crap against us.

With a goaldifference of + thirty and a big positive result in the personal confrontation you can technically say there's a five point gap.

Just finished watching the replay. Other than the first five minutes Ajax were not troubled. Some more good GK work from Pasveer and solid defending kept the clean sheet. Ajax mugged to keep up this level of intensity and the results will come.

Much better use of chances than in some previous matches.

Really could’ve been 1 or 2 nil down when Berghuis scored off Ajax’s first chance. Finishing made a huge difference today.

We always knew PSV was going to complain about the lack of rest since they played on Thursday. They can keep crying. So many times over the past many seasons, Ajax has been the only Dutch club which is still in Europe.

Totally right! PSV dropped out of Europe many times to focus on the eredivisie. Ajax were the only team to score point in the uefa ranking. And still ajax won the league and had succes in Europe. And thanks to the succes of ajax, there’s a chance that 2 teams from NL can directly enter the CL. Suddenly I’m rooting for Feyenoord or AZ.

Hehe Amol you are totally right about the crying part, I hope that it will be their main focus, so they don't point the finger towards the deeper problems they got.

They have a fairly sub-standard squad at the moment which is not deep enough for Europe + Eredivisie. Unlike most seasons, the 'smaller' Dutch clubs are doing pretty well in Europe and PSV probably has more pressure on them (to do better) because of that.

It's a Catch-22 for the Eredivisie. We're getting so many points, because we have 1 really strong club in the CL, 1 average club in EL and 3 average clubs in the UCL.

We're getting most points because of the addition of the ECL and well of course Ajax's fantastic season.

However, if we accidentally get more teams into the CL, I worry about the net loss of points year over year.
