Crazy result by AZ away at Napoli after losing 13 players to COVID. Props to them.

Feyenoord got an away draw ,even missed a penalty. AZ did wonderfully well probably the performance of the whole week.

Winning in Naples with a full squad would have been great but 13 missing with the virus was exceptional.

Interesting no call on a VAR review for a PK by Bas Nijhuis in the Vitesse 2-1 victory over PSV. I was watching the match and wondered what he would do when VAR asked him to review it. I didn't think it was a penalty call and that was the decision.

I fully agree. That push was a complete joke. The speaker in Greece insisted it was a PK when from the first replay, you could tell he just charged on the defender to get the call

Could say PSV were unlucky though - in the eredivisie VAR often awards penalties that weren’t called, but I can’t recall seeing them reverse many penalties given on the field.

I watched most of the Feyenoord game and they played very well winning 3-1. I saw the 2nd half of the AZ game and they were flatter than a pancake. Stengs and Boadu were poor.

didn't the qualify directly for Dutch champs happen when Ajax drew 1-1 with Juve?

The 2021 Dutch champs will already qualify direct but this season's coefficient table is for 2022 champs.

Here is a real stunner. AZ has dismissed trainer Arne Slot. Slot was negotiating to take over at Feyenoord when Advocaat retires at the end of this season and did not inform the AZ Board of this. I have no problem with this type of dismissal but it my harm AZ for the rest of the season.

I watched the last five minutes or so of the PSV game and it was crazy! They were losing 2-1 and Heerenveen had them on the ropes. Joey Veerman broke in free on goal but had his shot well blocked. PSV quickly countered and caught to many Heerenveen player upfield and scored. Heerenveen came right back and won a free kick about 30 meters out. The kick was floated in and the PSV keeper had a very poor punch and a Heerenveen play hit a rocket that was saved by a hand on the line for a penalty. Alas, there was an offsides by a half an arm that negated the penalty and that's how it ended.

If they're in for the long term this might be good for the Eredivisie in general. We need 3-4 teams which are consistently vying for the title and getting better results in Europe.

Psv won tonight but had already qualified. Until injury time AZ were qualifying 1-1 in their game but Sociedad made it 1-1 in Napoli in Injury time which was curtains for AZ unless they scored again.Sadly the minnows scored and won 2-1

Regarding the news about US investors spending a lot of money on Feyenoord, I find that hard to believe. There is little return from owning a Dutch football team other than Ajax because of the lack of television revenue. Feyenoord are badly in need of a new stadium and the plans I've seen are way more than the amount anyone would want to spend. Dutch teams routinely make money from match days but only Ajax and Feyenoord have arenas that seat 50K. Most of the clubs are at about 30K with some very small and under 15K. This is not a recipe for success.
