I've never truly understood us giving up on Botman and now Lang.

My understanding is the training staff did not believe Botman could play in a high line defense, that he was susceptible to being beaten with space at his back. They felt Perie was a better player in that regard. The Lang decision makes me wonder as well.

I think Pierie is done at Ajax. Schuurs will be next because Timber is a supplement alongside Blind because of his speed.

Quite happy to see Klaassen. I think he’s what this team needs, from a mental perspective. It also helps he played in the premier league and Bundesliga. That will make you stronger.

Go back and look at the De Grafschaap thread from May 2016 and you might change your mind. He was our Captain and they could not even beat the 17th place team in the league. That was the nadir of Frank de Boer's reign. We'll see what happens with Klaassen but I'm not optimistic.

The team he was playing for was relegated in Switzerland and that was one of the reasons for returning. I don't know what kind of options Ajax have other than to terminate his contract or wait and see if there are suitors in January.

A couple of weeks old with this but we signed a 30 year old ex Twente goalie Nick Hengelman as a spare goalie for training and sort of cover for Young Ajax.

If Warmerdam and de Waal don't receive contracts by end of March they leave for free. I guess it's a matter of how they perform at Jong Ajax

reports coming out of france (l’équipe) that we are signing haller from west ham for 25 million euros (!!) he joined west ham in 2019 for 45 million and was part of the eintrach frankfurt team that did well that year. it’s been an interesting day here in the us and this is definitely more interesting news.

Has a good record and if you want a decent striker 20m is the minimum.Rather buy him than pay the same amount for Bremmer, a young Brazilian.

As we have said no to Wolves and West Ham for Traore and still have KJH I just have a feeling Brobbey is not going to sign thus we wont play him. This is the longest contract extension we have ever dealt with and he is a meer 18 year old U21 player.

I just don't get it. I understand if the kids think that they won't make it at Ajax and take the EPL money. But he is definitely going to be a starter if he stays. What's the point of leaving right now taking a huge chance with your career?

he’s likely looking at nao lang and botman and how those two established themselves in the first teams. it’s a huge gamble. if he doesn’t succeed, he’ll certainly never be heard from again. good luck to him.

I see your point - but IMO their cases are slightly different. They stuck it out with Ajax and Ajax didn't show any faith in their abilities. So instead of going nowhere - they moved on.

But for every Botman and Lang, we have countless others who have moved too early and have regularly failed at other clubs and destroyed their careers.

I can understand it from a non-sporting point of view. If you don’t know for sure you’ll make it long term, taking a payday while it’s on offer is not totally irrational. I suppose lots of the young players who leave are financially set for life, whether they make it as football players or not.

II think we have to cut our losses and move on. It's a shame, Brobbey has the potential to be a George Weah. So if he goes to AC Milan it would be pretty fitting.

Noa Lang was a special case as he was difficult to manage and I think the Ajax felt this would cause problems; there was no doubt about his talent. The didn't fancy Botman as he was not good with the ball at his feet and thought Perie was a better long term choice. That remains to be seen pending his season at Twente where he is playing pretty well. We don't know what kind of offer Overmars made to Brobbey and it may be that they tried hard to get him to extend but he would not do so. Will he go the same way as Deshawn Redan? Only time will tell.

EDIT: Remember that Danilo who is scoring goals for Twente comes back to Ajax next season.

Is it true that Ajax have no interest in keeping Danilo? Since Ajax already have strikers, even if Brobbey leaves.
At the most I would at least hope he would extend his contract by 3 years and loan by 1 year.
