Exactly - who would've thought Ajax would be at the top of the table at the end of Matchday 2?kezme44 schreef:what a great game. could have won this 3-1. tagliafico, tadic and van de beek with big chances, especially the last one. schone hitting the bar late. unlucky but we stole a point away and still top if the group!

Great performance by us, we created enough chances to have won but few teams win in Munich. I too believe we will qualify and this game will have given our team confidence.
Wober had a good game in defence and this will have done him good. Still think a proper striker should play , a couple of chances would have been buried by Dolberg or KJH

This is what football is all about. The passion and the effort from your team when they are up against an opponent who have better players. Ajax put in a massive shift from all the players and I'll confess that ten Hag had the tactics right. Defense made all the big stops and even though Ajax were poor passing in the MF they created more dangerous chances on goal than Bayern. Ajax are now STAY TOP OF THE TABLE.
Player Ratings:
ten Hag (8.5) - I had my doubts when I saw the starting lineup but it was the right lineup. I had my doubts about de Wit coming on but it was the right decision; I had doubts about Dolberg coming on but it was the right decision.
Onana (8) - commanded the box
Tagliafico (7) - had more of the ball in the first half and saw little when Ajax went bunker down
Wöber (7.5) - great match and has to be considered as a starter along side de Ligt
el Capitan de Ligt (8) - Rock solid and some great interventions
Mazraoui (7.5) - really fine game, except.............................I think he was supposed to mark Hummels on the goal
Schöne (6.5) - played super hard but just not quick enough for the Bayern MF
Blind (6.5) - slowness really showed but as with Schöne played his heart out
van de Beek (6) - great game, except...........................should have done better on the shot that went wide
Ziyech (8) - a rocket that forced Neuer into a great save and boy did he ever play defense tonight
Tadic (8) - all over the field tonight
Neres (7) - had some good moments in the first half and very quiet in the second
de Wit (6) - put in a good shift and was decent on the ball late
Dolberg (6) - drew a foul at a critical time
Whew, I'm now out of breath and wonder what team will come out against AZ on the weekend.

Really great Ajax performance. Playing our game tonight and proving we can make something good if we continue like that. I see that De Wit is a typical sub in the last few games. Maybe he's going to be the next young player to establish himself. There was a mini hurricane and it went by Crete were Ian lives. Nothing extreme over there though. Blind as a midfielder should be something we see more often. But on whose expense?
May the Force be with you

nice read, thanks for posting Orange14. besides the success on the field, it's also noteworthy to mention that we have added an additional 2.5 million to our coffers with the win two weeks ago and the draw yesterday. the next two games against benfica will be crucial. if we take away 4 points from those games, we should be in a good place to take the second spot.

Mazraoui and Bayern keeper Neuer both on the ESPN CL team of the week.

That's clearly a compliment to how we played when they put Neuer in the team of the week.Orange14 schreef:Mazraoui and Bayern keeper Neuer both on the ESPN CL team of the week.

It's still a shame that Benfica managed to get a 2-3 win in Athens.
With 11 against 10 and AEK getting back from 0-2 to 2-2 it looked like developing into a very good score for Ajax.
