Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Good riddance to him.He now seems to have signed for 2 clubs ! We should just pay him off his 3 final months and tell him to go.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
The new issue of VI states that Onana and Ziyech have both expressed their desire to leave Ajax this summer to the club’s management.
Ziyech’s departure wish has been known for months due to his fractured relationship with a section of the Ajax support, but where he could end up is not known.
Worryingly for Ajax fans, VI also states that Matthijs de Ligt, Justin Kluivert and David Neres are being followed by several top clubs and transfer noises are being made.
VI believe that despite hope that several of the young talents will remain, Ajax are set to lose a number of top stars this summer.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
de Ligt and Kluivert followed by everyone. Did read Spurs fancied Neres but his form since the winter break has not been that special and I see all these 3 staying for another year.
Onana,Ziyech,Younes ,Veltman ,Viergever Dijks will all leave . Orejuela, Cassierra ,officially first teamers will be loaned out and hopefully Siem de Jong will leave.Think that is more than enough players to go in one summer.
Kluivert's contract extension is the big worry. Mind back in December I read we were talking with Botman about his contract and he signed that yesterday, and he is an 18 year old youth player!!

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Still the situation regarding the two 18 year olds, de Ligt and Kluivert is stressful. Neres is bound to stay, he is struggling to make the world cup squad for Brazl. As for the others mentioned, I am happy for all of them to leave, bar Onana, decent keepers are hard to acquire. As for Siem de Jong, sadly I think he will stay, and occupy the number 4 (anchor man's) position, with Eiting behind him, and Schone as a 'super sub'.SPL schreef:de Ligt and Kluivert followed by everyone. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Agree comments its the 2x18 year olds . Just read de Ligt says he is happy at Ajax and hoped he would stay until 24 or 25 but never thought it would be so fast. Clearly Ajax is in his heart but he knows he is outgrowing Dutch football very fast.Still think he will stay next year.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Just do add to that, I had this weird vision that Joel Veltman did a Ronald Koeman and transferred to PSV Eindhoven, I wouldn't mind if that happened, I feel bad for him, he needs to resurrect his career, and that won't happen at Ajax. I still wonder how everyone reacted to Koeman's transfer from Ajax to PSV in the late 80s, perhaps the veterans will know.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
It wasn't as bad as when Cruyff moved to Feyenoord!!! Remember also that Koeman did not come up through the Ajax system; he started at Groningen.Ayman schreef: I still wonder how everyone reacted to Koeman's transfer from Ajax to PSV in the late 80s, perhaps the veterans will know.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Koeman wasn’t really a product from the Ajax youth academy, not quite the same sentiment as when Veltman would move to PSV (or Feyenoord). I also think he deserves a bit more credit than he’s given at the moment. He’s a better player than Kristensen.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
True but were there not Ajax players who moved to rival teams in recent times e.g. Kenneth Vermeer. He came through the youth ranks, if I recall correctly.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Correct about Vermeer but when he moved on, wasn't Cillessen the #1 keeper?Ayman schreef:True but were there not Ajax players who moved to rival teams in recent times e.g. Kenneth Vermeer. He came through the youth ranks, if I recall correctly.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
If I recall correctly, Vermeer had an injury, and Cillessen was on the bench in the first half of the season, then got his chance.Orange14 schreef:Correct about Vermeer but when he moved on, wasn't Cillessen the #1 keeper?Ayman schreef:True but were there not Ajax players who moved to rival teams in recent times e.g. Kenneth Vermeer. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Inter Milan will pay 50m euros for Neres if they qualify for CL so says the Italian press! Take that with a pinch of salt .
Back to Veltman,he is still better than Kristensen and Orejuela which is worrying. Most write off Veltman as rubbish ,which he is not, but we have spent 9m on 2 foreign Right backs neither as good. Think there are still some RB's in Eredivisie who could have been signed for cheaper and as good as these 2 we signed. Not talking about getting superstars.Even Zeefuik , after a half season on loan at Groningen must be on a par with our 2 new signings.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Does seem that Viergever is going to PSV on a free.Last summer Overmars turned down 7m,and wouldn't extend his contract. A joke. We still need an experienced CD and Viergever is more than good enough ,well PSV who are better than us think so!!
de Ligt Schuurs Wober and Viergever as Cd would be good enough .

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have opened talks with the agents of de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.
How reliable is Mundo Deportivo?
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
They want the 2 on the cheap and loan them back to us. Dont see it happening . 60m has been quoted by Ajax for de Ligt and as for Frenkie his value can only go up in the next year if he plays midfield regularly.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Its been reported in Holland and here in the UK that last night representatives from Manchester City were in Amsterdam to discuss the terms for de Ligt
I suppose we can't keep him forever, but I was looking forward to at least one more year.
The whole situation with Viergever just baffles me... Why on earth we wouldn't have sold him last year when we had the chance if we're willing to let him go now for free (to a title rival) is beyond me. The management of the club are well and truly clueless in regards to transfer.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Yes, they did screw up with Viergever but for the most part Overmars has done OK. Sure they should have brought in Tagliafico earlier but look at the money made on Sanchez and Milik. Good for the club's bottom line but unfortunately not us supporters.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
So is the de Ligt move (to where ever) pretty much a done deal? Man City met with Ajax scouts, whatever that's supposed to mean
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Judging by past performance of Overmars, if any club can pay up €60M, de Ligt will be transferred this summer. That's an outrageous sum of money for an 18 year old defender. Here is my take on who leaves:
Definite: Onana, Ziyech, Viergever (on a free as already noted)
Possibly: de Ligt for €60M (anything less is crazy on the part of Ajax), Tagliafico if he starts for Argentina in the WC and they have a good run
Remote: Neres who has a long term contract and won't make the Brazil WC team (if for some reason he does, all bets are off); Dolberg who was hurt most of this year and still has not proven himself a reliable goal scorer; Frenkie de Jong is only on this list because of rumors, I think he stays
Ajax could have some big holes in the roster to fill. I don't know when the first CL qualification round is but it might be before the transfer window opens

Window opens 1st of July. CL games are in the last weeks of July.
He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Agreed with all except Dolberg, who plays in the world cup. As for de Ligt. I know Man City spend silly money and throw it in the mix to see what happens but 60 million for an 18 year old, who hasn't played at the highest level with Ajax i.e. the Champions League. Could Man City be in Amsterdam, to strike a relationship identical with NAC Breda?Orange14 schreef:Judging by past performance of Overmars, if any club can pay up €60M, de Ligt will be transferred this summer. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I'm not sure about the ManCity stuff. They signed John Stones from Everton a couple of years ago for a lot of money and he is only 23 and plays on the right side of the defense. Maybe de Ligt is a replacement for Kompany who is always injured.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
True, but for the latter part of this season, Kompany has been playing often and playing well, he still has a couple of years in him.Orange14 schreef:I'm not sure about the ManCity stuff. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Echo Everton news reports that Everton will make a £50 bid for Hakim Ziyech. Sounds good.
