Re: Ajax Coaches
Good luck Michael! He's our coach right now and get my full support for the next few games.
Has played for Ajax, Milan and Barcelona. Lot of pedigree and did play under Riijkaard for a year and under Van Gaal for 6. Fingers crossed.

Re: Ajax Coaches
Is Ten Hag any better? Reading about him I am not sure what type of football we can expect. We have swapped one inexperienced man with another.
I will give him a chance but if he does not win the title he will under hugh pressure.2nd place will mean 2nd round qualifiers in the CL.
Yes letting Keizer go was right but will it be any better. I expect his use of subs will be ,as Keizer was sadly clueless.
Have we now gone down the line of so many EPL sides, struggle a bit sack the coach but bring in someone no better?
I hope I am wrong but fear that is what we have done.A nobody who has coached Utrecht for 2 seasons!!
Anyway ,who ever is coach and whatever type of football he produces I will just follow Ajax as always. No other club on the planet matters to me.If Ajax went out of business I would never support anyone else.

Re: Ajax Coaches
To be fair to Ten Hag, he has had success in his experience prior to Utrecht. Go Ahead Eagles, and Bayern Munich B team or Bayern Munich II as they call it. But this means nothing on the grand scheme of things. But how does his experience differ from say, Peter Bosz? Who had a spell as coach at Vitesse then at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Re: Ajax Coaches
Erik ten Haag has been officially unveiled as the new coach of Ajax. Honestly I do not know much about him, except that he was Utrecht's coach and has been the assistant coach at PSV and the coach of Bayern B.
Re: Ajax Coaches
I have a good feeling about this guy!!!

Re: Ajax Coaches
Alfred Schreuder has yet to be confirmed as the assistant manager, he will be the brains behind the scenes.
Re: Ajax Coaches
Welcome to our new coach hope it goes well.If we finish 2nd this season pressure will then be on him.

Interesting, but long analysis on Erik ten Hag on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comment ... _erik_ten/

Re: Ajax Coaches
Alfred Schreuder set to join Ajax as an assistant coach, I have followed his activities on and off recently, he isn't bad for such a position, as long as he isn't a foreman.

I agree.Ayman schreef:Alfred Schreuder set to join Ajax as an assistant coach, I have followed his activities on and off recently, he isn't bad for such a position, as long as he isn't a foreman.
I follow the guy already since he played for RKC Waalwijk. Despite his Feyenoord period he's a good pick.

It's ironic, Ajax have done well with coaching staff who played for Feyenoord, Cruyff, Koeman and of course, recently,Cruijff schreef:I agree.Ayman schreef:Alfred Schreuder set to join Ajax as an assistant coach, I have followed his activities on and off recently, he isn't bad for such a position, as long as he isn't a foreman.

Bosz.
Re: Ajax Coaches
Well... there was a period (a short period) in the '70's that Ajax and Feyenoord were the two strongest football teams in the world.Ayman schreef: It's ironic, Ajax have done well with coaching staff who played for Feyenoord, Cruyff, Koeman and of course, recently,
Bosz.
Feyenoord by winning the Champions League / EC I Cup in 1970, followed by the World Cup against Estudiantes. Ajax three times in a row winner and top of Europe in '71, '72 and '73.
Probably it's best to have knowledge of best of both worlds, walk around in the kitchen of both Ajax and Feyenoord and then try to go wild with attractive and attacking play at Ajax.
After his final football year at Feyenoord, a super recommendation to watch this minutes of play (!!!):

Directly after that one year of football Feyenoord offered him a huge amount of money to become their technical boss and trainer. Johan refused, he wanted to return at Ajax.
Re: Ajax Coaches
Ten Hag extends till 2022! This is amazing news.

Re: Ajax Coaches
Kovac has left Bayern. I hope they don't come looking for Ten Hag.....

Re: Ajax Coaches
I don't know if there is a buyout clause in ETH's contract (Ajax received €5M when Bosz left for Dortmund after a year). Personally, I think moving to Bayern is the wrong move. The club is very insular and the group of former players pull strings there. I don't know if Lucien Favre stays at Dortmund after this year. Dortmund with their emphasis on youth and pressing football would be a much better fit (I know that Bosz did not succeed there).
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: Ajax Coaches
Rumours of Spurs speaking with ETH this week about him taking over the vacant spot at Spurs. Not sure why he would go to Spurs when they are going to play in the EL and are $1B in debt. Kane possibly moving on this year and can't imagine there being a huge transfer budget either.
Re: Ajax Coaches
ETH has signed a new contract to 2023 and says he is not ready to leave. Good news for us as he is doing a good job .
Re: Ajax Coaches
Great news indeed. I just wish he rotates a little more next year.
Re: Ajax Coaches
Just read Van der Sar still has faith in Schreuder so looks like he could still be in the job in January. If he stays the biggest hope is we get 2nd place ahead of Feyenoord.
Re: Ajax Coaches
2nd place still qualifies for the group stage in next year's Champions League as we over took Portugal.

Re: Ajax Coaches
I am sure 2nd place getting a full CL place comes into effect for 2024/25 season .This season 2nd place will still mean qualifiers for 2023/24
PS>Just checked , the ratings at the end of 2022/23 season effects 2024/25 places so for 2023/24 2nd place is still qualifiers. We must finish ahead of Portugal this season .

I thought we had pulled ahead of Portugal last year, but maybe not. You might be correct.SPL schreef: ↑vr nov 11, 2022 6:14 pmI am sure 2nd place getting a full CL place comes into effect for 2024/25 season .This season 2nd place will still mean qualifiers for 2023/24

BTW, the Ajax Board met a couple of days ago and stated that no changes were going to be made in the coaching staff and technical director.

Re: Ajax Coaches
If they dont sack this man now and let him continue in January we will finish 3rd. Last time we were like this was 2011 and Cruyff said enough .The great man must be turning in his grace at the shambles this poor coach has reduced us to.
Ps I dont count 2017/18 disaster season the whole club was in shock because of Appie.
