Another very boring match. Hey Peter Bosz, you have enough mediocre players that you can do a squad rotation if you think players are going to be tired from a Thursday night match. The quality won't drop off at all because there is very little of it to begin with. Sanchez is my MOTM, not a single mistake all match long and some very incisive passing. Might have even stolen a goal off a free kick had he been a little luckier. Klaassen gets one of the great garbage goals of all time and then celebrates as if it was a Champions League winner, go figure.

Player Ratings:

Onana (7) - solid game and came up with a couple of nice saves
Dijks (3.5) - dumbest play of the year, he argues with the match official over a clear foul and the free kick is quickly taken and given to the man he is supposed to be defending who gets a nice cross to the goal mouth but Heracles couldn't convert
Viergever (6) - decent enough
Sanchez (8) - absolutely superb on defense
Veltman (4) - woeful, no more need be said except that Tete should be playing
Riedewald (6.5) - quietly solid
Gudelj (6.5) - finally more good moments than bad ones
el Capitan (4.5) - a charitable rating for a player who should not be in the starting 11
Younes (4) - a couple of weak shots and constant selfish 'I can beat any defender' play
Traore (6) - really is working hard and at least he shields the ball pretty well when he receives it
Ziyech (4.5) - looked completely disinterested all match long; maybe he didn't come to play on the wing
Dolberg (5.5) - a couple of decent touches
Sinkgraven (5.5) - should be starting in the MF over Klaassen
AeG7 (5) - one slow motion step over as per his idol; it didn't work

Busy time ahead with four straight home matches: Beker Cup against Willem II mid week; PEC Zwolle next week; Standard Liege in the EL and then our nemesis Utrecht. Will there be squad rotation? Don't bet on it.

Tete should be RB .Veltman doesn't attack that well and is no where near as good as Tete defending.

Ziyech is a midfielder so why is he playing out on the wing . Our football last year under de Boer was boring and his time was up sadly this guy Bosz is worse as our football has actually gone backwards.

Early days but I dont see us winning the title with these players .Sad to say that if todays starting line up got sold I would not worry except Sanchez who looks real quality .Worryingly our little kids in Jong Ajax came up against a tougher better side on Friday and struggled so maybe they are not ready yet.

i would give Bosz to Christmas and if our football is no better he should get the bullet .Johan must be looking down on this shower of crap and wonder what the hell has happened to his club.

Who would take over? A lot of us had high hopes from Bosz and were expecting to see free flowing attacking football. I think Jonk might be the only replacement we might be happy with and that's not going to happen. Not sure how much someone like Riijkaard (if he were ever interested) would be able to do.

I'm not sure it would matter who takes over if Bosz is sacked. The blunt truth is that the players are not very good regardless of what kind of system is put into place. Maybe the players at Jong Ajax are not quite ready for prime time but they will be the future of this club. On the senior team the following players are worth keeping: Onana (decent enough keeper), Tete (probably will leave because of lack of playing time), Veltman (only if he moves back into the center defense), Sanchez, Viergever (I know some of you think he is just ordinary but he seldom makes mistakes), Riedewald, Sinkgraven (needs to play in the MF), Ziyech (we paid a lot of money for him and he has talent when used in the right position), Dolberg, and Cassiera. Bazoer is a question mark as he has talent but no confidence right now. Everyone else is not good enough for a championship team.

Would go along with Orange 14 on players to retain. Our defence ,with Tete and Riedewald will be no problem ,Dijks to go obviously. Midfield Bazoer Sinkgraven and Ziyech with de Jong v d beek and Nouri. Up front Dolberg and Cassierra both good prospects but the others can go.

Tom said we should stop playing with wingers but El Ghazi is the only real winger and he has been dropped. Traore is better on the right coming inside but we have Cerny who plays like that and also Muric did. Why on earth do we need to loan a guy no better. Younes just tries to keep the ball and beat everyone and achieves little.

I dont see Bosz dropping Klaassen Gudelj and Riedewald from MF so sadly nothing is going to change.

Also Overmars managed to create the most imbalanced selection of all time. For some positions we've got 4 or 5 options (especially when you count up and coming youth players) while for others we've got only 1.

Left center: Viergever
Left back: Dijks
DM: Riedewald
Right half: Klaassen, Gudelj, Bazoer, Schone, Vd Beek

Some of the players can be used on multiple positions obviously but I put them where I think they function best in this formation.

Not including guys like Westermann and Serero who have been practically written off. Also not including talents who have yet to play a role.

Yeah I would agree with most of what's been said here.

I don't have anything against wingers, but I DO think it's totally pointless putting e.g. a left footed midfielder on the right wing, just because "we're Ajax and we have wingers".

We haven't had *quality* wingers for a long time and I think avoiding the centre of the pitch is hurting us because the ball goes to the wing and gets turned over to the other team or goes back to the fullback.

Added to that, I've always thought crosses are a pretty inefficient way of scoring, which is made worse by the fact that we don't exactly have a KJH-style striker to get on the end of them.
