Re: New Players for Ajax
Just googled the players .Simon is 21 ,in pre season 2013 we gave him a trial played some friendlyJong games but we ddi not sign him .He joined Trencin and then in 2015Gent.
Bailey it seems we are going to buy from Genk for 11m euros. He was 19 last week. Came to Belgium in 2013 aged 16 but as a non EU couldnt stay.It was about this time we tried to sign him but as a non Eu we could not sign him until 2015 ,when he reached 18. Joined Trencin in 2014 and after 1 season joined Genk for 1.4m .

Re: New Players for Ajax
So does this rank as a "panic purchase?"

Re: New Players for Ajax
Seems highly rated and PSG fancy him and Chelsea have watched him.We could have signed him for just over 1m last summer but 1 year in Belgium and his value goes up 10m !!
NB Meant to add way too much . 5 or 6 m max

Re: New Players for Ajax
Genk seem to have issued a hands off warning on Bailey.
Re: New Players for Ajax
So Vince Gino Dekker who I thought was highly rated is 19 and so is Bailey. So this purchase would directly impact our youth LW unless we are looking to sell Younes.Ayman schreef:Genk seem to have issued a hands off warning on Bailey.
Why would we want to spend 11 million on that position when we know we need a good backup/replacement at LB?

Right, and on top of that, we have Cerny who can play on the left (albeit on the right as well). Add to that Cassierra can play as a left winger and a centre forward.
Verdict: No need to sign Bailey.
Re: New Players for Ajax
Dekker a proper old fashioned left footed left winger has only just played his 1st Jong game ,not ready yet.
Cannot see why we need to spend 11m for Bailey unless of course El Ghazi leaves for Italy.
We now need a new goalie more urgently

Ajax should sign TIm Krul form Newcastle, they said they are willing to listen to offers. http://the72.co.uk/62861/newcastle-boss ... l-stopper/?
Re: New Players for Ajax
He just returned to training from a knee injury. He's a great shot blocker but he's not a sweeper keeper and is not as good on the ball as Cillessen.Ayman schreef:Ajax should sign TIm Krul form Newcastle, they said they are willing to listen to offers. http://the72.co.uk/62861/newcastle-boss ... l-stopper/?
My hometown club, DC United, has a very good keeper, Bill Hamid, who probably would not be all that costly a purchase. I'm not sure that Ajax scouts the US though.

Re: New Players for Ajax
Evidently we are going for Krul ,will he be match fit? Doubt he will play straight away so wait and see
Re: New Players for Ajax
Krul has started training again at Newcastle.

Re: New Players for Ajax
Genk want 20 m for Bailey and our bid so far comes to15m Dont see him coming here.
On our new German Westermann Bochum didn't want him and they are in Bundesliga 2. He was ok last night but nothing special. de Ligt looked better so what on earth did we sign this old German has been for.

Re: New Players for Ajax
If little Genk can play hardball for one of their players, why can't Overmars ever seem to do that?
Re: New Players for Ajax
I think Bailey's contract has four more years to run plus the transfer window is nearing closure. Genk hold all the high cards in this game of poker. Overmars did good business with Milik!Amol schreef:If little Genk can play hardball for one of their players, why can't Overmars ever seem to do that?

Re: New Players for Ajax
Newcastle have extended Krul's contract to 2018 and will let him come on loan. He is paid about 3.5m euros pa. so we will probably have to pay somewhere near 2m euros for his loan, same as Traore.
Re: New Players for Ajax
Reading a comment Ajax should not be getting players in on loan for our 1st team. My Man u mate said to me a club like Ajax should not be loaning kids like Traore when we produce so many kids and are still a big name. I think he is a good talent but I had to agree .We have bought Cassierra and Dolberg already looks good. What we needed is an older striker not some kid on loan. Its was ok getting Milik on loan as we were looking to buy but Sanogo and Traore are just cheap stop gaps.
As for a goalie Cillessen is a top goalie and we have little time to get a replacement.Having Krul for a season maybe ok but he has not played for 10 months.
Not sure where we go on a goalie but selling our top goalie 10 days before the deadline is not good business.

Re: New Players for Ajax
1. one too many howlers from Cillessen means he has to go. Krul has not played in 10 months but will regain his fitness and is good enough.SPL schreef:Reading a comment Ajax should not be getting players in on loan for our 1st team. 2. Nothing wrong with loaning players like Traore, who is a huge talent and can help Ajax.
Re: New Players for Ajax
Traore is indeed a hugh talent but so is Dolberg and Cassierra . I would have preferred a good experienced striker , but Huntelaar is still scoring goals for Schalke !
Re: New Players for Ajax
This means that Traore and Cassierra battle for the number 9 position. Dollberg will have to seek first team football at a new club when the January transfer window reopens by then.SPL schreef:Traore is indeed a hugh talent but so is Dolberg and Cassierra . Re: New Players for Ajax
a couple of points. I don't think Cassiera is a true #9. He's probably a second striker as he likes to come in from the wing rather than stay out. I don't want to see Dolberg go out on loan as he is clearly an emerging talent and we are woefully thin on the front line as it is.
Regarding Krul, he is coming back from a bad knee injury and also has had shoulder problems in the past as well. He is a good shot blocker but he is definitely not the sweeper keeper that Cillessen is (one of the reasons Cillessen has been the Dutch #1). Krul slows games down as his distribution is slow and often to the wrong player. This is OK in the EPL which until the arrival of Klopp, Pep, and Conte didn't fancy quick distribution from the keepers.

Re: New Players for Ajax
Dolberg looks the best of the 3 at present but he is not going to be rushed ,expect he will play for Jong Ajax tonight. He wont get loaned out in January.
Traore and Casierra will be our main 2 strikers as you say.We need another winger not sure we will get Bailey

Re: New Players for Ajax
Hmm, it's true Dolberg has a goalscorer's touch so far, seemingly converting every chance he's had. From a statistical point of view I guess we have to expect his conversion rate to decrease, however.
Also, he isn't really involved in build up play so far. In comparison, Traoré gets himself in a position to receive passes around the final third and is a good ball handler.
In my opinion Dolberg is a good prospect but right now Traoré is doing more for the team. Of course if we are going to play with 2 strikers or 1.5 strikers, having three in the squad is not too many and they'll all get playing time.

We are already playing with a shadow striker in Klaassen.Tom_ schreef: In my opinion Dolberg is a good prospect but right now Traoré is doing more for the team. Re: New Players for Ajax
Yeah, that's what I meant by 1.5 strikers, sorry. Cassierra played there when he came on again Willem II, right?
