Re: New Players for Ajax
Would prefer Gomez over Balottelli. Afterall, Gomez is a champions league winner, although seems to have lost his touch.

Re: New Players for Ajax
Gomez scored 26 goals in 33 games for Besiktas last season. Can't see why he wouldn't score the same or even more in the Eredivisie. Ok, at 31 he is not getting any faster, but I'd still take him in a heart beat. Think he would be even worth breaking the salary cap for.

are you on reddit? I saw someone with a similar comment to yours re:'Think he would be worth breaking the salary cap for'. Busted
No, I'm not and yes I did read that comment when digging info on this possible transfer and the thought in my head was that it's never going to happen because it's hard to see either of the Marios coming to Amsterdam, because I'm sure that they are used to bigger salaries. So I agreed with that comment that the salary cap should be broken to get a real striker (Gomez, not sure about Balotelli). Then again don't know would the different salary policies cause feelings of inequality in the team that could hurt the morale inside the team.

Re: New Players for Ajax
If not Gomez, then Bertrand Traore would make sense, he worked under Bosz at V itesse. But for the love of God, Not the other Mario!
Re: New Players for Ajax
Ballotelli is so overrated has scored hardly any goals in 2 seasons and is on 6m a year. Why on earth would we want him. He comes across as a bit crazy well he seems a bit of a nut case. Ok so does Zlatan but he actually scores goals.

Re: New Players for Ajax
I wonder is it possible that we end up just saving the money and hope that the youngster Dolberg is enough with maybe Zivkovic, El Gahzi and Cassierra as back up. I guess that would be the Ajax thing to do. As a supporter you obviously want more than just financial success. Dolberg has potential, but is he ready to take on such a big role so soon? Maybe Gomez is too much to ask for, but I hope we sign a new striker that has proven himself at least at some level.

Re: New Players for Ajax
Silly rumours claiming that Bas Dost is linked with a move to Ajax. No chance! He is 27, it wouldn't make sense for him to return to Eredivisie as he has not seen a decline in his career, therefore doesn't need a spring board to resurrect it, like Van Wolfswinkel or Luuk de Jong. Bas Dost is on his way to Sporting Lisbon most likely
Re: New Players for Ajax
According to De Telegraaf, we have hired (no option to buy) Bertrand Traore from Chelsea for the next year. He has of course worked with Bosz before at Vittesse and was apparently at the top of Bosz's wishlist.
Re: New Players for Ajax
Seems a done deal.Highly rated young striker from Chelsea will cost us 2m euros for the loan which could prove well spent if he does score goals as excepted.
This guy is no Sanogo.

Re: New Players for Ajax
it makes sense, its not uncommon for a coach to sign at least one player he has worked with before. This does mean that Dolberg goes down in the pecking order, behind Cassierra (Who can also be deployed on the left) and Traore, with Kaj Sierhuis coming up the ranks behind him.SPL schreef:Seems a done deal.Highly rated young striker from Chelsea will cost us 2m euros for the loan which could prove well spent if he does score goals as excepted.

Re: New Players for Ajax
One of the problems with Traore is the African Cup of Nations is being held this year (they contest it every two years rather than the four like the Euros). If Burkina Faso progress, Ajax could see the striker absent for two months.

Re: New Players for Ajax
He will miss 4 league games
Re: New Players for Ajax
This is an interesting one. Bosz obviously knows the guy, which is reassuring.
IIRC he played as a "second" forward on the right side of attack a bit at Vitesse? Wonder if we'll see a front two of Traoré + Dolberg/Cassierra.
Also a bit of a departure in playing style from Ajax's recent strikers.
No rumours about LB or wingers at the moment...

Re: New Players for Ajax
If Ajax were to sign a left back, why not go for Maxwell from PSG? I know he is 35, but he is vastly experienced, and played regularly for his former club, he is out of contract if I am not mistakenTom_ schreef:This is an interesting one. Bosz obviously knows the guy, which is reassuring.

Re: New Players for Ajax
He signed a contract extension at PSG this year. Also I don't remember all the details, I do remember that all of us hated the way he left.Ayman schreef:If Ajax were to sign a left back, why not go for Maxwell from PSG? He was seriously injured in April 2005[6] and never played again for Ajax.
Re: New Players for Ajax
I just checked and see that Boilesen is still unsigned. Should he return to Ajax and take over at LB?

Re: New Players for Ajax
No way ,Boilesen has an arrongance that he should be playing for a world class team. 2 Belgium clubs wanted him but he is waiting for Barca!!!
We could do with a LB who can defend.

Re: New Players for Ajax
We need another left winger urgently. Younes is our only left winger. El Ghazi Cerny and Schone for the right side.
Re: New Players for Ajax
What about Casseria? He's been playing out on the left. Maybe we bring Gino Dekker up from the youth!!!!

Re: New Players for Ajax
Why the hell are Ajax eyeing Leon Bailey? http://www.football-oranje.com/ajax-going-sign-bailey/ They should resign Moses Simon! At least he is familiar with the system!
Re: New Players for Ajax
Is Cassiera a true left winger but then again Younes is not a proper left winger. Vince Gino Dekker ,just starting his Jong Ajax career,is a proper left footed left winger .
Re: New Players for Ajax
Leon Bailey and Moses Simon could have been signed for nothing.Bailey could have been signed on his 18th,he is Jamaican, and Simon we decided to let go .We now face spending a few million on either.

Makes more sense to sign Simon. Bailey is as risky as Suleimani was
