Players Leaving Ajax

Zeux raises the really critical point. I think the entire Board of Directors needs to rethink what they want Ajax to be. Right now they don't seem to have any clue and all the ex-Ajax footballers who are in positions of power are totally clueless. I bought a couple of tickets to the US lottery this past week when the prize money was about $1billion US. I figured if I won, I could buy a bunch of Ajax stock and gotten a seat on the Board to effect some change. Alas, I didn't win.

We have mainly put players into the side at 20 and sell them after 4 years which is ok and Klaassen Veltman and Cillessen will fall into this group. The only player recently who debuted at 18 and left early was Eriksen ,who played for 3 years and left at 21. We now are going to face the Eriksen senario with 4 players ie EL Ghazi,Bazoer Riedewald and Tete. All coming in at 19 but gone by 22. Cerny and v d Beek will also likely be regulars in the next year aged 19 and gone by 22. In our youths talk of de Ligt maybe breaking through into the squad next season , he wont be 17 until August!!

Policy of bringing through youth wont get us anywhere apart from increase our bank balance. And the fact that another 16 year old is about to go to England means we are not keeping all our best talents (Familia Castillo being the 5th one since summer of 2014)

Filling a team with kids will never get us anywhere in the CL as we will see more seasons like this.

So Familia Castillo is going to Chelski,for money and fooball oblivion.In about 3 years time we shall see him at Vitesse on loan and when he is 21 he will be back at Heracles .At least if he had gone to Man U they do actually play some youngsters.

Sorry to hear another kid leaves for money but today Donny v d Beek is reported to have had an offer from Bayern Munich a few years ago but turned it down .Like Nouri he had to wait until after his 17th birthday for a contract .He quotes he never gave a thought to leaving, Ajax are the best club for youths to develop and break through, Ajax is my club.He says his only ambition is to spend the next few years playing for us.

Leaving Holland for a really big club as a teenager and making it has only happened to one player ever Clarence Seedorf. Dont think Krul at Newcastle and now Ake at Watford really count they are minor English teams.

I think some of these kids have grown up in very poor economic circumstances and there was family pressure on them to take the early money. These are very difficult choices that many of us never had to make. I'm disappointed when it happens but on one level it is understandable. I think of the current group of departures only Fosu-Mensah is likely to have a good career outside of Holland. He's the one player that Ajax should have really tried to keep.

SPL is correct about Seedorf but of course he did reach first team football and was on the CL winner just over 20 years ago.

EDIT: Do we get any money for bringing Familia Castillo through the youth system???

Boilesen is scheduled for a medical with Woverhampton today and we may get a pittance in return if he does move on. Hope he enjoys League Championship football as this club probably will not get promoted.

Back to Orange's last post of earlier ,I should not quote Seedorf as he was world class at 18 ,left us at 19 . Krul ,Ake and Rekik now at O. Marseilles would have reached the level of those clubs had they stayed in Holland ,but they have made more money by leaving at 16.

I do understand the financial circumstances of the kids families mean they take the money at 16 from England and I cannot blame them.

We do get money for F-Castillo, and indeed for all kids who leave our academy at 16

Seems Boilesen isnt going to Wolves , he has said he is in Amsterdam and has not been to Wolves. If he is still with us after 1 st February we should just pay him off.

Talk of El Ghazi going to Milan but his sister is now his agent and says she has had no contact but Inter were interested as well .Italian press say Milan offered 7m with 4m added of options but they do say Ajax will want more. Ajax have confirmed they have had no approach for the player.

I find the way this club is run utterly crap , Bazoer last week could have gone and clearly they could get rid of El Ghazi this month and both on the cheap. If Milan want El Ghazi ask a min 15m up front with add ons.

Our club's transfer record in selling players for less than we should get has been poor for 20 years since Bosman. We now put them on longer contracts but still look to sell them on the cheap.

A report today that El Azzouzi ,the Jong Ajax striker is leaving and NEC may sign him. Every time he plays for the Jong he scores and has more potential than Hendriks.

Ajax confirmed that Boilesen Duarte,v Rhijn and Serero are the players who can leave this month. Serero has his admirers on this site ,I am not one of them . With v d Beek breaking through I see little future for Serero as he is now 6th choice MF (Klaassen,Gudelj,Bazoer,Sinkgraven ,V D Beek all ahead of him)

Overmars says we dont want to sell El Ghazi but if a hugh offer is made we have to consider. We have to accept we are a selling club. Italian press say we would want 15m but Dutch press say Ajax would only consider bids of 20m.

I have been very critical of Ajax but looking at Ajax's point if any offers over 20m come in for a player we have to consider selling .Bazoer is a hugh talent but he is not the finished article and when you consider Sneijder left for under 30m the offer for Bazoer last week was hugh . He could do a knee this week and never be the same again . El Ghazi should be sold for say 15m with add ons but not until the summer.


Only positive news seems from Frank that Sanogo is not going to prove his match fitness and the hope is he will return to Arsenal.

Zakaria El Azzouzi is indeed going on loan to Twente, seems all is agreed but there is no option to buy. He has a contract to 2020 which is very long for someone who is a Jong Ajax bench warmer.Not sure of what playing time he will get at Twente, he is not going there to play for their Jong team.

Everton are looking to sign v Rhijn.1 or 2 papers over here have the story.May depend on Tete's injury ie if he we out for a month we may not sell him.

S. Liege want Serero but we have said no because there are still doubts about Klaassen's knee. So until Klaassen is fit he can sit on the bench and then he will be spare as v d Beek is ahead of him.

Serero is not worse than Gudelj but Klaassen is fit and in the squad tomorrow so Serero will be left out .With v d Beek breaking through Serero will be lucky to sit on the bench in future,he deserves better and we should sell him or even let him out on loan.

Milan offered us 7.5m euros yesterday for El Ghazi ,obviously we said no.They were going to pay it over 2 years as well and will come back in the summer. No way should we ever deal with a bankrupt Italian club like this.

That's pretty good - Sanogo gone, Duarte & Ligeon out on loan and Zivkovic back. Heits wasn't bringing anything either - so saving some money on salary is always good.

I don't think even Zlatan/Messi can do a lot with our current playing tactics though. FDB needs to really get his head out of his butt or leave.

Bigger problem is - who will take over from FDB? I'm not sure Jonk would want to come back. FDB has given us a big '0' on matchday tactics, but he's kept us pretty consistent for about 5 years now. We had a serious merry go round after Koeman had left.

Heits has been honest in retiring and clearly was never really fit .Sad but he is now looking to stay and learn coaching.

Sanogo ,nothing to repeat.A joke of a player and Overmars who bought him should go as well.His transfer record is crap.

I am glad Duarte has found a club so he can play. He has done no wrong and to be shunned by the club and not be involved as a player is a poor reflection on our management.

I see Boilesen could have joined Middlesbrough ,the club with the great nickname, the smog monsters . The town is home to ICI chemicals and probably the worst place I have ever been to.He will now hope to get a better club in the summer when on a free. But 52 games in 4 injury prone years and then not playing for a whole year when fit not sure who is going to want him.
