05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
Anything less than three points and we are pretty much out of Europe for the season. Part of me wants to see the team go far if only for the country's UEFA coefficient but we have to remember that this is a very young squad and the Klassiker is coming up on Sunday!
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Would like to see us playing in Europe after the winter break, since we're already out of the cup. Hope the positive game last weekend will carry us. Bazoer is in and Dijks is out of the squad. FdB said that Riedewald will not play left back, so I guess it's Viergever and Riedewald will play as center back.
"We're on a mission from God."
Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
I think you have it backwards. FdB stated that Riedewald will play left back and likely to start Viergever in the middle.

Since english isn't my native tongue, you're probably right Oranje14. To think of it, It would make much more sense to play Riedewald as left back because the wing demands more pace and Viergever isn't exactly a rocket.

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
Viegever CD, Riedewald LB and Bazoer back.Hope for a win ,we were unlucky to lose in Turkey and anything other than a win basically puts us out .

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
We have to win, preferably by more than 1 goal to get ahead on aggregate.
Not sure about Milik starting. Maybe he can light it up against Roda but he won't get as much space tonight, and his ability to control the ball under pressure is about as good as my ability to control my cheese intake (this is not a compliment). Hope he proves me wrong!

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
the intent to attack is good but too many poor touches and slow passes just won't get the job done. Gudelj had a couple of real bad plays early on but then settled down. Klaassen has been very poor on the ball and Bazoer again is too long on the ball. Defense has done enough. Too bad about el Ghazi's freak injury, possible torn calf muscle though I hope not. It's hard to see where the goal(s) are going to come from in this match.

Fairly uninspiring half , sorry to see El Ghazi go off ,hope its not too serious.
I was having problems getting a stream.Cricfree doesn't like giving full screen if you have adblocks on. I dont want porn adverts coming up and viruses so put up with a smallscreen but then got a full screen in english.Football either way is not very great .

Fisher is out too...
We're back to our old habits of backpassing and being unable to even have a shot straight to the Turkish keeper

Well, lucky to get away with a point in the end. We are just not good enough, sadly.
Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
We should lose, just to get over our so called European ambitions...

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
Ajax very poor , we are as good as out and sadly we dont deserve anything. 3 moderate teams and we failed to win any game so far. 2017/18 Dutch looks like having 1 team in the CL and even then in the qualifying rounds. Ajax's poor performances this season in Europe have not helped that cause.
Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
I felt like I was watching that great American western, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Lots of very nice defending by the back four and that was the highlight of the match. Everyone else was pretty much bad or ugly. There was very poor ball control on the part of the midfielders and only Schöne was decent on the ball of all the attackers. Too bad that el Ghazi and Fischer were lost to injuries as they are the only ones on this team capable of scoring during the run of play. Surprising to me was that Ajax won so many balls in the air, probably more than all the games to date. Fenerbahce had two good chances to score in the last 20 minutes but made a hash of both. They really did not look very good overall and it's easy to see why they have had difficulty in this group.
Player Ratings:
Cillessen (5.5) - didn't have any tough saves to make but what was he doing kicking the ball along the ground right to an opponent in the last 10 minutes
Riedewald (7) - defended pretty well and moved up the flank when the opening presented itself
Viergever (7) - good match and strong in the air
Veltman (7.5) - had a couple of very nice interventions to take the ball away
Tete (7.5) - should not have let the ball go out of bounds late in the match when it was clear that it had to be played but that was the only thing to complain about, had a nice left footed cross in that Klaassen skied over the goal
Gudelj (4.5) - two very poor give aways early in the match but then settled down before being subbed off
Bazoer (5) - maddening game! Lots of energy and good defending but then stayed on the ball too long or made a poor pass
Klaassen (4) - awful first touch all match long
Fischer (5) - had a half chance when he broke free but did little else
Milik (3.5) - could not hold the ball up much at all and when he did seemed to be clueless about what to do next
el Ghazi (5) - calf injury cut his match short
Schöne (6) - only player up front to control the ball well
Younes (5) - created a late chance but the angle was too narrow and Klaassen was waiting at the far post for a ball that didn't come
Serero (4) - really should have been punished for the silly give away but Fernindao displayed comic finishing ability
Molde win again and are through to the next round. Ajax are two points behind Fenerbahce and look to be on life support.
We'll have to see what the injuries to Fischer and el Ghazi look like. It would be difficult to face Feyenoord without anyone who can score.

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
PSV are currently second in their CL group and AZ have a shot in their EL group if they get a result tonight. We have to hope one or both of them are still in Europe in January. Still looks like Ajax will end up bottom of the group.

Orange, I only disagree with one word in your post: it's a great film, but not American! ;)Orange14 schreef:I felt like I was watching that great American western, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."

Filmed in Spain by an Italian director of course, though the plot line was American. I actually like Leone's "Once Upon a Time in the West" better. Henry Fonda is evil incarnate!!!Tom_ schreef:Orange, I only disagree with one word in your post: it's a great film, but not American! ;)Orange14 schreef:I felt like I was watching that great American western, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."

Now that I didn't know; I always assumed it was made in Italy... although Spain makes a lot more sense considering the landscape!
PS sorry to drift off topic but it's far more interesting than today's football

Re: 05 NOV 2015 Ajax - Fenerbahce Europa League Group Play
one point I meant to add what was the point of Serero coming on near the end.Surely Sinkgraven at least may have created some chances and he did have a good game last weekend v Roda.
I am not a fan of Serero think his ability is limited and we should sell him. After the winter break with no Europe and just the league which means 1 game a week we should just bring in v d Beek for Serero.
