Re: Young Ajax in the Jupiler League

Jong Ajax being in the Jupiler league has been ok in the first half of the season when players had not played the max 15 first team games(after which you cannot play for Jong)

However in the 2nd half of the season fringe players like v d Hoorn and Riedewald have had more playing time in the first .Duarte ,Ligeon, Becker, Denswil, all regulars left in January and thus our Jong team has been left with a small squad of inexperienced kids who are unable to compete with the experienced Jupiler teams. It doesn't help that a class striker like Zivkovic is clearly unmotivated to play at this level.
.
The team has lost 6 in a row with 2 further defeats by NEC and Oss to follow. With all these kids I wonder if they would be better off back playing in the promises/reserve team league. They are gaining experience but need
3or 4 older players in the squad to help them compete.

It's been a mixed bag certainly. I don't think this is necessarily what Ajax prefer but it was the only way to have a Jupiter league as many top flight amateur sides did not want to move up because of the financial ramifications. The only way they could get some more teams was to include the Jong Ajax, Twente, and PSV sides. I wonder why Feyenoord was not included, perhaps the club saw the issues and decided not to participate. At least Jong Ajax stand above Twente and PSV in the table right now.

Playing NEC tonight,no idea if its on tv. Zivkovic is playing so hope the kid scores a goal although NEC are miles better than anyother team in the league and given we have a weakish squad it could well be a heavy defeat.

Just started and not on tv.

Onana

Sanniez, Sporkslede,V Bruggen ,Owusu

Noordhoff, Bakker ,Warmerdam

Acolatse, Zivkovic,Menig

subs Mous,Vissie,Dankerlui,Hendriks.

A very weak team ,Noordhoff is joining Telstar,Sporkslede will go as his contract is up and Bakker and Warmerdam are not good enough midfielders.Acolaste and Menig are not very special wingers either. The rest of them are all teenagers who are struggling without any experience. Plus of course Zivkovic who is completly unmotivated.

my prediction is that NEC will win by at least 6-0.

Well we only lost 2-1. 2-0 down at Ht but Noordhoff scored on 86 mins. Hendriks for Menig for the 2nd half and Dankerlui(still uncontracted) for Sanniez on 75 were subs used.

Final game next week home to Oss, after 7 defeats in a row would be nice to at least draw that game.

Last game v Oss no Tv no stream

Onana

Owusu,Vissie,Noordhoff,Warmerdam

Clement,Bakker,Muric

Hendriks,Zivkovic,Menig

subs Mous,Acolaste,EL Hasnaoui(been injured for months) Bergsma(A2 youth full back)

So only one real MF Bakker.Zivkovic wont play for the firsts on Sunday. Sanniez and v Bruggen will play for A1 youth tomorrow in a game they need to win to be champs.

With a weak defence and next to no MF this looks like an 8th defeat in a row.

We actually got a draw, finished 1-1 with a late equaliser from Menig.

Zivkovic did not play as he injured his groin in the warm up so Acolatse started in his place.El Hasnaoui came on for Muric for the last 20 mins, his first playing time for many months, and young Bergsma made his Jong debut coming on for the last 5mins for Owusu

They must be glad this long hard season is over.

will keep Jong Ajax friendlies here. Today they beat Hollandia 5-0 with Hendriks and Muric scoring in the first half and Menig and El Azzouzi who scored 2 in the 2nd half.

The Jong squad currently numbers about 30 although 3or 4 are still injured and 4 others off to Dutch u19's.Some of this squad are likely to be loaned out before the end of August. Today Meleg and v d Hart played, both were on loan to eredivisie teams last season and I cannot see them staying. Duarte, who is not in our 1st team squad did not even make the subs bench today.Hopefully he will get loaned out again as we dont really want a player in his mid 20's keeping out real talented youngsters.

I know van der Hart had the big cock up against us last season but is his talent just not good enough for Ajax?

Just meant that v d Hart wont want to play Jupiler League footy. He probably would make a good No 2 though but again he wont want to just sit on the bench.

El Azzouzi seems to score lots of goals. Is he a real talent or just someone who seems to be in the right place at the right time? Maybe one of the Dutch readers can weigh in on this.

Season opener tonight in Groesbeek against Achilles. There should be some streams around as it is broadcasted by Fox.

Line-up Jong Ajax: Onana, Lartey-Sanniez, Mirani, Warmerdam, Dankerlui, Clement, Muric, Andersen, Hendriks, vd Beek, Cerny.

Nouri (bench) and Owusu not fit enough to start. More quality this year in Jong Ajax.

Watched most of the first half. Nicely taken goal by Cerny to put Jong Ajax up 1-0. Decent ball movement from this group of players.

Oh my, that really looked like a dive by the Achilles player but he got the call. Don't know who the Ajax #5 is but he should have not lost position to even give the semblance of a push there. 1-1; bad call by the match official.

Jong Ajax concede a second goal in the 78th minute and lose 2-1. I was not impressed at all with Andersen who really does not look like Ajax material or Hendricks who got the ball in two shooting situations and did nothing. Onana had three nice saves but did not save the penalty.

Watched a big chunck of the 2nd half.A very poor decision for their pen .Dankerlui the no 5 is a right footed player and not a left back .Owusu who is injured and V Bruggen ,who came on as sub are better defenders than Dankerlui and Mirani. (Meleg and Nouri the others subs.)

Caught the last 40 mins or so. van Rhijn also went off injured. Are he and van der Hoorn completely out of the picture for the first team?

Younis came on in the second half but I didn't really see enough of him to comment—what did you think SPL?

Hi Tom I am here. Should add it finished 1-1 their goal came from a corner and somehow went in .Younes did not impress me much ,he came on for Fischer. Heavy rain and football did not look great.Sanogo does not impress much either but I was eating whilst looking and the wife was talking so I didn't concentrate like a first team game.

At least they got a draw.

I was not paying full attention either. Nice to have a game to watch on a Monday evening though.

It seemed like Sanogo was left almost completely isolated but it's true that the couple of times he latched onto a long ball he didn't do a lot with it. Though as you said it's hard to play football in that rain (today fit with my memories of North European weather)!
