New Players for Ajax

The more I read about these two new signings the more I like them. I think Overmars and Co. have done quite a nice job...potentially. Also like that there wasn't weeks of speculation and when it did happen it happened quickly; little drama.

Can't imagine anymore signings, the team is well stocked, and Ajax has not lost any players from last season that they wanted to keep. That might change with Kishna. I would hate to see him leave but there are able replacements to take his spot. The only player that worries everyone about leaving is Cillessen.

We'll see of course, but PSV has lost some important players and may have an off year.

Neither have yet been signed officially. Sanago has his medical today and will sign tomorrow. Younes arrived and had a medical tuesday and yesterday was at De Lutte but did not train. All the official papers are not yet completed.He has agreed a contract to 2018 with an option for another year and we are paying 3m euros for him.

Younes officially confirmed today as an Ajax player .3m euros contract to 2018 plus a year option as quoted .
Apart from Sanogo FDB says thats it for new players unless Cillessen goes.

Boilesen to go but FDB says Viegever Riedewald and Savastano are adequate cover. Younes signing means enough wingers if Kishna goes. He said no one has contacted Ajax about Kishna and he has no idea whether he will be here next season.He said Kishna still has to prove himself before he gets an offer of a contract extension .

On this last point Ajax are a joke ,we have given moderate kids like Menig Acolatse longer deals and Kishna is already in a different class to those.Clearly the coach and Ajax want him out.The only young first team player who has not been offered a long term contract!

They can get Serge Romero for free instead of paying a large transfer fee for Cillessen. Romero has always been good for Argentina.

EDIT ADDED: I think with Kishna there was real concern about whether his knee would hold up and that's why they lingered about extending his contract. It's still not apparent to me that he's 100% fit (did he ever play a full 90 minutes?). There was also the problems between the player, agent, and FdB as well. I guess he's going to Lazio and we'll see if he ever plays up to his full talent. Unhappy players should not be kept around.

Cillessen to Man u rumours seems to have gone on the backburner.More hopeful he will stay.

Ajax have done a great job with extending contracts but by not even talking to Kishna about extending his suggests they dont mind him leaving , especially given his agent is making things difficult. If that is the case then fair play to Ajax and the management team. I'm personally tired of these guys shouting demands and us having to take the hit when they leave anyway

Remember that they did extend Tete's contract and he's a Raiola client. Several youth players also signed. I don't think we know everything about the FdB/Kishna/Raiola story but one thing is for sure to me. Raiola clearly thinks Kishna is much better than FdB thinks he is. It may be nothing more than this.

Press says we are after Utrecht's french striker Haller but they want 10m euros.Norwich and Sunderland are interested but Haller fancies Ajax. Well he is ok but I would want someone a bit better and from a higher league for 10m. We do need another striker but a 30 year old like Pantelic for a couple of seasons.My dream player would be a 32 year old at Schalke,yes I would love the Hunter to return but what service would he get from nil creative midfielders and inconsistant wingers .

Any new player in January has to be better than what we have. Viergever, v dHoorn,Gudelj and Sinkgraven were not better than players already here.Sanogo worse. The only player in our whole squad who has been purchased and is a great buy is Cillessen and he came in before Overmars.
Milik is an ok forward better than what we had but I dont think is the answer to being an Ajax striker.Younes is also ok but no better than Kishna.

I don't think Haller is any better than Milik and won't do much better since the problem is getting the ball to the striker in a good position. Utrecht only paid €500,000 for Haller from a French club and will make a lot of money when they sell him. If he is that good why didn't Ajax scout him?? Is the club giving up on Zivkovic?

Hmm, agree that our problems aren't solely because of the lack of a striker but I don't rate Milik at all. Well, he has a lovely medium-range shot. But he can only operate against defenses that don't apply any pressure, as soon as he has one or two players marking him, he coughs up the ball, and his ability to control passes is worse than anyone I can remember in Ajax-1. Anyway, he's still only a kid so there's time to improve, but I personally don't see him as any better than Siggy at this stage. I don't know a lot about Haller but wouldn't object to trying someone new.

Mention of Zivkovic ,he is struggling at Willem. He should have stayed at Groningen last season,joined us this season as 2nd striker.

Dijks is the only player on the team who has a decent cross!

It's not so much that we don't cross the ball, it's that 90+% of the crosses are nowhere near the mark, and for the ones that are, we don't have enough players in the attacking area to do anything with them. Most of the time it's 3 or 4 defenders vs. 1 (if any at all) attacker waiting to receive the cross.

The main difficulty is that the team is so slow in the offensive third that defenders have ample time to double team any attacker.

FDB still not giving up on Sanogo so why are we buying another striker just to sit on the bench. El Ghazi could easily be used as back up for Milik .

There is a rumour that Ajax joined the race to sign Bertrand Traore of Chelsea, he is a winger that can play as a striker. He had a loan spell with Vitesse Arnhem

Well Traore has actually scored goals which is something Sanogo has not done since leaving the French 2nd division.

Big problem Traore has played 7 mins for Chelsea this season so has not really played since leaving Vitesse back in May,thus he could be a bit rusty and will need time to settle. I would hope for an older experienced player.

Dont think we want someone who cannot get in F word team. Dont think we would want anyone from Fword.He is nothing special but you would still choose him over Sanogo . Traore is staying with Chelsea so we continue to look.

Hoffenheim are looking to unload Kevin Kuranyi but he would probably cost too much money for just a half season. Still he is a proven scorer and probably has another year left in his legs.
