06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Saturday fixture ahead of the final CL group match mid-week. Bazoer and Menig are in the selection replacing el Ghazi (groin) and Zimling (thigh). Let's hope for a rare clean sheet and a win! There is a possibility to head to the top of the table because of the postponed PSV/Feyenoord match.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Picking 2 x18 year old DM to cover Serero means Duarte is not considered good enough ,hope he is sold next month.
Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
We always beat Willem II. 4–0 I reckon!

Wasn't he originally bought to replace Eriksen? That didn't really work out did it? I think we payed around 3 million for him. Not the best purchase we have made.SPL schreef:Picking 2 x18 year old DM to cover Serero means Duarte is not considered good enough ,hope he is sold next month.

This got me to thinking what the best purchases the club has made over the last 5-8 years. Certainly Huntelaar and Suarez rank up at the top, maybe Moisander right behind them. I don't count the youth purchases in this category (Danes, Belgians, etc.), but what other "established" player buys have worked out?King Litti schreef: Wasn't he originally bought to replace Eriksen? Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
In the last 10 years the only players we have sold for a good profit ,who did not come from our youth or were signed as youths, are Zlatan ,Suarez and Huntelaar.
We have made a lot of poor buys over these last 10 years which is why we are going back to what we are famous for in the football world - producing youth.
Of those currently in our squad who we have purchased I would say Moisander has been a decent buy, Siggy will be a decent player but does not fit into our football system.Schone a great free signing , v d Hoorn a good defender who has not had a chance here as Veltman is better. Finally Sana can join Duarte in leaving next month ,both poor signings.Zimling hopefully should go next month luckily we only signed him on loan.

Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Ajax has four matches left before the winter break. Two league matches, a must win CL match next week, and a KNVB skirmish the week after that, then the lads can all have a bit of a holiday. Traditionally Ajax plays better in the 2nd half of the season, and all things considered, are in good shape to get some trophy's.
First up is today's home game against the team from Tilburg. Ajax can, once again, claim top place in the Eredivisie with a win. However PSV kicks off at the same time, playing away at Dordrecht who rest comfortably at the bottom of the table with a paltry 5pts. PSV also has a game in-hand.
So today's game is very important for Ajax to stay within striking distance of the league leaders. Willem II usually play attacking football and have some good forwards, and wing play. At CF the Swed Armenteros has 8 goals. some old friends as well: Mitchell Dijks at LB, whom I'm still upset Ajax saw him as surplus and let him go, and Fabian Sporkslede, a young player and has only played one game for Willem....
Well looking forward to it, comon Ajax!!

Siggy to start then. With the busy next couple of weeks it makes sense to rotate players a bit. De Boer has not really done much of that but for what ever reason it makes sense. Comon Siggy!

And now look like Siggy will be coming off after a bad tackle....
Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
And just like that it looks like Sigthorrsson's day and maybe month are over with a really nasty tackle on his ankle.

Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
I hope he isn't seriously damaged. Looked horrible for his ankle. Could be his ligaments...
May the Force be with you
Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Good striker's goal but awful looking injury. He's done for at least the rest of the year.
Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
That was the third wonderful pass from Andersen this half. Too bad Kishna couldn't have done better but Milik is clinical.

Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
I guess Veltman can always fill in as striker!!! 3-0

Was that suppose to have been a cross from van Rhijn? Shocking.

Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Milik giving the fans what they want 4-0. After a good start from the visitors Ajax has really taken control.
Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Well played first have with four well deserved goals. Andersen is my MOTM so far with fine passes and a good snap shot that was headed in to the far corner and well saved by the Willem II keeper.

Re: 06 DEC 2014 Ajax-Willem II Match Day 15
Well a great first half ,hope Siggy's injury is not too bad.I quess Milik has shown already that he should be the regular starter.Hope to see at least 6 goals from us.
