Re: Players Leaving Ajax
We are still not out of the woods with respect to Blind. van Gaal has given a number of ManU players walking papers today and said the club will bring in several more players over the weekend.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Back in early July ,when 16 year old Dilrosun joined Man City we discussed another 16 year old heading for Man u and today the Daily Mail shows that Timothy Fosu Mensah is joining Utd having turned down Man City and Inter Milan. Clearly these 2 lads are motivated by money and good luck to them.Tim Krul was the only teenager in the last 10 years to go abroad and make it ,and he took about 5 years to get there.
Meanwhile Man u may well be coming back to us for Daley, but at least it will cost them 22m or so euros

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Yes, I was just about to post this as well. When will these youngsters learn that staying in the Dutch league is really the right thing to do for their development. We get €300K for this "transfer"

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Another 16 year old Mink Peeters could be leaving for Athletico or Real Madrid. We should go back to putting 16 year olds on 3 year contracts. The odd one will still say no and leave but these 3 kids would not have all left if they had contracts from us on their 16th birthday. We seem to have changed our rules because Ouasim Bouy ,signed for 3 years at 16 walked out at 19. This does not wash with me, we had Danny Blind sort of dealing with contracts at the time and the club was at civil war plus Bouy was a one off in walking out after 3 years .
The bottom line the 2 best 16 year olds have left and we can expect to lose more 16 year olds in the future . These kids are probably being pressurised by parents to take the money. Meanwhile we sign foreign kids and those from other Dutch sides aged 16 and give them 3 year contracts.
NB Actually the best 16 year old at the club is Vaclav Cerny the Czech winger who we stole on his 16th !!!!

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
this is a hard one to call. Clearly we have attracted foreign youth in the past (though maybe our three successful Belgian defenders are a special case) and will do so in the future. It's hard running such a big academy to make financial commitments across the board and there's no guarantee that even if you contract a lot of 16 year olds that there will be a good success rate. I see that Bouy is loaned out again this season to Panathanaikos; I wonder if he will ever play first team football at Juventus.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Late at night here in the US and there are reports that Blind is off to ManU for €18M. Probably a fair amount. What will Ajax do with only a couple of days left now?

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I'm quite surprised it's 'only' £14m. The numbers quoted over here for the past few days were more like £22m. But hey, it's £14m I guess... Other reports are that john giuidetti may be returning to holland with ajax, man city told him to find another club weeks ago and nobody came calling
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Same story as every year I guess. So our DMF options for this season are Viergever and ...?
PS the fee is totally irrelevant, they could've had him for a packet of hobnobs since we don't spend money on transfers.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Thought we would get nearer 25 m euros ie £20m quoted by the english press but we have bonuses and a % of the resale so we could end up nearer 25m.Anyhow we don't spend money and Fword got about 20m euros combinded for Janmaat de Vrijs and M Indi so we cannot complain.Blind is a decent player but selling him so near the deadline is wrong. We should have said no but then again we let our best players go on the cheap every 31 August. Our best player left is now Schone so I quess we wont have the same problem next year.
Not a great 48 hours,Siggy stays Blind goes and as we dont like giving 16 year olds contracts anymore our best 16 year old defender has left.
Big question now we have Viegever as aDM ,Boilesen as LB and the only cover appears to be 17 year olds Riedewald and Bazoer. Cannot say I am positive about the season and any players we buy in the next 48 hours will cost us now we have 120m euros sitting in the bank.

How much? Where has this money come from????

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Maybe €120M was a typo but I do wonder what happens to all the cash we get for transfers. Cruijff's consultancy fees?

After the deal with Blind and the CL-bonus I guess we will be somewhere above 100 million.Tom_ schreef:Maybe €120M was a typo but I do wonder what happens to all the cash we get for transfers. Cruijff's consultancy fees?

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Ajax sites have all quoted we had nearly 100m euros in the bank, thats before todays sale.So we do have about 120m euros in the bank
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
The number is correct. There was a report in the Dutch press a couple of weeks ago that they had a net positive of €100M and when you add in the Blind transfer fee that's where you get what you see. Club has already announced expenditures to boost the youth program though as SPL says they need to reconsider not giving contracts to 16 year old talents. The club is also hamstrung by the salary cap of €1M per season; they won't get top experienced players under this restriction. I guess this fits in with Cruijff's approach to things.Tom_ schreef:Maybe €120M was a typo but I do wonder what happens to all the cash we get for transfers. Cruijff's consultancy fees?
Remember that we lost players late in the last several campaigns and won the league. We'll see what happens this season.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Sorry to see Blind go, of course, but we cannot be surprised...best of luck in England Daley!! That goal he scored in the WC was fantastic!
Also very sad to see Dijks go, on a free transfer? He was always one of my favorites, a real defender! Now what once was a position with a lot of talent is very thin. Boilesen is often injured and more of an attacker than defender...guess Riedwald, who I like, will be the back up.
Looks like Moisander will stay...van der Hoorn should be starting! I think.
And no takers for Sigthorsson? Well maybe he'll do okay but was looking forward to seeing the other two CF's.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Yes we can. Feyenoord are selling everything just so that they can survive as a football club. We have 100 million in the bank, and Daley Blind's contract still has two years to run. Man Utd have been spending money left, right and centre and have been desperately buying players to improve their team. It is also transfer deadline today. It is Man Utd who are in the weak negotiating position. They already spent 30 million pounds on Luke Shaw, who sat on the bench for England during the World Cup.SPL schreef:Thought we would get nearer 25 m euros ie £20m quoted by the english press but we have bonuses and a % of the resale so we could end up nearer 25m.Anyhow we don't spend money and Fword got about 20m euros combinded for Janmaat de Vrijs and M Indi so we cannot complain.
The whole thing is a farce, we should have gotten 20-25 million pounds at least.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Frank just confirmed that Vermeer is leaving for Feyenoord. Disgusting...
May the Force be with you
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Good luck to him. I wonder what the Feyenoord fans will make of it.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
That to me is absolutely unbelievable. It's one thing selling a player to another team, but when he's decent, and to a main rival and especially fword. Can't believe it.
Players Leaving Ajax
Bah, good for him, he deserves to be playing and if so, why not another top Dutch club? I hope he does well.

all the papers here this morning, and skysports, are commenting that QPR are back in for siggie...

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
QPR can have him. Shock move for Vermeer but he needs to play regularly so cannot blame him.

did anyone see that Man Utd were in for Vermeer?
