Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
I read it will cost PSV 1m euros .
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Why does any team ever keep Ronald Koeman around as trainer. Terrible tactics at mid-week in the Cup match and today a loss to ADO. Enough already, time to promote van Bronckhorst to sort things out in Rotterdam.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
With Fword losing and Twente's game at Groningen off with snow a win today will see a 6 point gap with the 3rd place team.NEC just equalised against Chelsea 2nd team, aka Vitesse.Hope NEC hold on.
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Feyenoord and Vitesse draw 1-1. We can go four points top with a win on Sunday.

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Great news about Vitesse dropping points at Feyenoord.
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Yep, excellent chance for us. If we win Twente will be able to go second (three points behind) if they win their game in hand.

And now PSV want Sno...Van basten schreef:Evander Sno scores twice in a RKC win over psv
Unbelievable. They've lost the plot completely.
Edit: They're eight points away from a Europa League spot, but only seven away from a relegation spot...
K.
Still alive...
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Chelsea Juniors 0 - AZ 2, Vitesse drop more points. Maybe they are in freefall!

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Vitesse just lost 0-2 at home against AZ.

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Nice, another big chance for us to open a gap on Vitesse (although even if we win Twente's can still get within a point).
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Vitesse drew again. This time with last placed Den Haag.
It all seems to be going downhill for them at the moment.

It's ours to lose at this point. I hope we can keep our nerve for the rest of the season.Amol schreef:Vitesse drew again. This time with last placed Den Haag.

Speaking of Vitesse....here's an interesting Dutch/American story. Ajax, please take note. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/s ... 07993.post
BRING IT ON !!!!...
Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Ajax had a young American player, John O'Brien, some years ago. I think they also tried to set up a US based training academy but it really wasn't all that successful. I don't know how much scouting they do in the US but imagine that their preference is to bring a player in at a relatively young age (13-15) if they are promising. This obviously poses difficulties for the family. On a similar note there was a story in the New York Times a couple of months ago about a US 13 year old who is in the Barcelona academy. The family moved to Barcelona.Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:Speaking of Vitesse....here's an interesting Dutch/American story. Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Thanks for the link. Yeah, I guess Ajax have enough local kids who can enter their youth system directly that they don't have to go out of their way to scout other continents for them. No idea if it's true but I remember reading somewhere that exceptional ability (relative to other kids) up till the age of ~16–17 doesn't really correlate with exceptional performance as a professional, so I guess it's just not worth the investment actively scouting kids that young.

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
the problem with younger kids is, if a kid at 13 has physically developed more than the rest, they tend to play fantastic compared to another kid with the same or similar technical ability. once the others catch up, it kind of evens back out a bit. thus making it very difficult to judge.

Several of us Ajax-USA members got to meet Johnny O back in the day. Good times!Orange14 schreef:Ajax had a young American player, John O'Brien, some years ago. Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
You are right and the sad story of former US phenom Freddy Adu is the prime example. My hometown club signed him at age 13 and while he played for the US under 21 team a couple of times really never succeeded. At age 24, he is currently out of contract but I did see on the news that he has a trial with Blackpool.afcajax73 schreef:the problem with younger kids is, if a kid at 13 has physically developed more than the rest, they tend to play fantastic compared to another kid with the same or similar technical ability. once the others catch up, it kind of evens back out a bit. thus making it very difficult to judge.

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Twente played out a 1-1 draw with Gronigen tonight, so we are 4 points clear right now.
Basically we're crap but the rest is even craper.

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams
Fair comment Ajax are playing crap but the others are even worse.4 points clear and we really can only play better ie Bojan and Fischer may start scoring goals .
Pleased that Groningen held on tonight with ex Ajax Bizot,Lindgren ,Burnet and Kappelhof in their side.
