Re: Ajax Finances
Seems like you'll have to wait longer for the oligarchy : Na het seizoen 2013-2014 blijft AEGON echter nog minimaal twee seizoenen als partner aan Ajax verbonden. De nieuwe verbintenis loopt tot en met 30 juni 2016. Daarbij is een optie opgenomen voor verlenging met nog twee seizoenen, tot en met 30 juni 2018.
Confusing read though ...
Insurance group Aegon will stop its shirt sponsorship of Amsterdam football club Ajax in the summer of 2014, one year earlier than agreed in the contract.
Aegon signed a seven-year contract with Ajax in 2008, with an option to end the agreement after five years.
Sponsor and club have now agreed one more year of shirt sponsorship, giving Ajax time to find a replacement sponsor, Aegon's Jan Driessen told the Telegraaf.
Aegon was unhappy about the furore around the Johan Cruijff revolution at the club and a year ago Driessen said Ajax had not met expectations.

Maybe Royal Dutch Shell? Would be cool to see their logo on the kit top! Better than Gazprom.

Re: Ajax Finances
I hope this could turn out to be true. I know Shell from the F1 championship I watch. They are Ferrari and used to be McLaren sponsors. Lots of money. Maybe they should get interested in footballOrange14 schreef:Maybe Royal Dutch Shell? Would be cool to see their logo on the kit top! Better than Gazprom.

Saw this on Twitter from Mohamed Moallim (writes 442 website) and the Total Dutch Football website. FWIW - Surprise... Ajax paid €2.5M for Duarte, new policy = €5M or less. €12.1M spent on 5 players by Overmars (July '12-present). €56.6M in sales.

i should add i know its not all about results, but what im getting at is that if we dont succeed and win anything, then how can we attract players to spend the money we have.

Re: Ajax Finances
That's the cool thing about having the best youth academy in the world. We've been following this policy for a few years now and winning at the same time.afcajax73 schreef:i should add i know its not all about results, but what im getting at is that if we dont succeed and win anything, then how can we attract players to spend the money we have.
It also means that we're not so reliant on qualifying for the Champions League. All good things, I'd say.

Re: Ajax Finances
The Swiss Ramble who analyzes the finances of Euro football clubs looks at the Ajax results from last season. He only posts to Twitter these days so you have to look at a series of Tweets that are posted on October 21-22. There is a lot of good data here along with comparisons to other major Euro teams as well as within the Eredivisie. Ajax are still way below the major teams that were in last year's CL in terms of finances but they have one of the lowest debt ratios. Lots of good graphs here as well.

Re: Ajax Finances
Ajax salary bill for the first team is €92M. Worst English Premier team gets €112M in television money.

Re: Ajax Finances
Thanks, that was an interesting thread.
I don’t have much of a head for finances. It’s interesting that the two things that Ajax is most reliant on financially (CL qualification and selling their best players) seem to be in direct conflict!

Re: Ajax Finances
The Swiss Ramble has a sobering analysis of the Ajax financial situation https://swissramble.substack.com/p/ajax-finances-202324. Key take aways:
Or, as the club put it, “Ajax’s result is highly dependent on the sporting scenario and outgoing transfers.”
Therefore, Ajax only qualifying for the Europa League in the last two seasons has really hurt their finances, as will the low player trading profit this season (unless they do more business in the January window).
As a consequence, the club said that “additional structural cost reductions will be implemented this season”, which makes sense for the bottom line, though it might make their recovery more difficult.
That said, Ajax still have the best financial resources in the Eredivisie in almost every category, so they should be fine, but that assumes that the management will stop dropping the ball.
Ajax have been pretty successful for a number of years, both on and off the pitch, but are finding life more of a challenge these days, though the board put a philosophical spin on the club’s situation, “Without losses, victories have no value.”
