Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Saw that Spartak rumor as well. He should have gone to Norwich, would have been a lot warmer!
Liverpool are a wannabe top 4 club. They are too weak with and especially soon to be without Suarez. Ericksen would be a fool to go there, Toby as well. At least Spurs have an outside chance of knocking out Arsenal.
They both would have been smarter to go to Germany as a stepping stone.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Personally i dont see tottenham or liverpool as contenders for anything in the EPL or even CL qualification. IF Bale leaves tottenham, they have big troubles. arsenal were already good enough (to use the term loosely) to beat spurs to 4th last year let alone without bale.cdnajaxfan schreef:Saw that Spartak rumor as well. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Serie A side Juventus could sell right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, 29, to Arsenal as they look to raise funds for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, 21, who has been a target for Liverpool and Tottenham.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Juve would be a great club for Eriksen. Conte has them playing offensive minded football and they are pretty much a lock on CL football each season. If he goes this summer, I wouldn't mind that transfer as they are one of my favorite clubs.

What does everyone think we'd get for him? 20 million euros? More? Less?Orange14 schreef:Juve would be a great club for Eriksen. Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Yeah, I think the relative lack of interest from big clubs in England have limited the price that we can expect. I suspect €15M is the top. IMO he's a good player but not quite quick enough to make it as a 'top' midfielder and he doesn't quite have the field vision of a Pirlo who is able to compensate for lack of quickness.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I read Cruyff wants the transfer period to cease once the season starts. Dutch French and German leagues started early August the rest this weekend. We now have to put up with waiting until 2nd Sept to see if our key players go and how do you get a last minute replacement for Eriksen as the only one in Holland Maher joined PSV.
The transfer period should cease on 1st August . If the english premiership does not start until 2 weeks after that date then transfers between English clubs only can be made until the season starts.
Cruyff is to talk to Platini and UEFA and lets face it he still has hugh influence in the game. Lets hope he has some success.
I still see Eriksen leaving at the last moment and we being left with trying to sign some nondescript at the last hour.

I fear the same. He is still showcasing himself. Scoring for Denmark and he will probably put an inspired performance on the pitch against Feijenoord this weekend. Might give him the transfer he craves for.SPL schreef: I still see Eriksen leaving at the last moment and we being left with trying to sign some nondescript at the last hour.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
"If" the reports are to be believed and he only will go to a team with serious CL goals and qualification then there are only a small number of teams that fit that category. Breaking down the top leagues by country: Spain - he's not needed at Barca or Madrid. England - Chelsea and ManCity appear to be set in the midfield; Arsenal is questionable and will Liverpool or Spurs ever qualify for CL football? ManU could be a destination given they might need a midfielder of his ability. Germany - Dortmund already have finished bringing in players and Bayern don't need him (the other German teams are too variable and don't always qualify for CL football). The Italian league is in such a state of flux that the only serious team is Juventus which is a real possibility as noted above. I can't see him moving to France where PSG are the biggest club.
So IMO I think at this point in time Juve and ManU would be the only serious contenders given what has been published (largely rumors) at this point in time. I think he could do well at Spurs (though they just announced a new transfer today bringing in a young French midfielder) and if Liverpool lose Suarez they won't finish in the top six.
EDIT: if ManU get either Modric or Ozil they won't want Eriksen so this limits things even more.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Oranje ,Man u want a big name in midfield and not sure Christian comes into that bracket, Arsenal wont spend money and do have enough attacking MF. If Spurs and Liverpool are ruled out that does indeed leave Juventus.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
i think, also, that Juve are the only real club suitable in all cases, and to a lesser extent milan,
united for me are completely out, they would be daft to go for eriksen then they can probably get cesc or fellaini, both proven premier league players, with probably more to offer than christian

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, PSG is interested in Ricardo van Rhijn because they're not satisfied with their current right fullbacks: Christophe Jallet and... Gregory van der Wiel.
I doubt they'll be happier with a clone of the latter one though.

Transfer window closes on Sept 2, correct??? I'm getting a little bit of a warm feeling that we won't lose anyone.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
There've been more rumours lately about Toby to be wanted by Zenith, Napoli, Everton and Arsenal and Eriksen leaving to Milan. Some stupid transfer just before window closes scares me. We may not be able to find any replacement at reasonable price.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I can only see Eriksen going to Juventus, but Juve are struggling to raise revenue to buy him, I doubt it will go through. Not sure about Toby though, I mean he could go to the premiership or to Russia
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I can see Toby going but at least we have bought a replacement. V Rhijn wont go and the other rumour this week ie Arsenal want Siggy is just nonsense.
Eriksen if he goes will be Italy or nowhere as Spurs have decided against him. Milan have said they will want him if they qualify for the CL which they should do but thats not until next Weds evening. Big fear they come in at the last minute he wants to go there and they offer about 8 or 9m and we have no time to get a replacement as we do not have anyone in house.
The transfer market should cease 1st August imo .Once your season has started thats it.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
+1, there is no reason to have this period linger on leaving smaller clubs in limbo. If Platini is at all serious about 'fair play' rules this is one that should be quite easy to implement.SPL schreef: The transfer market should cease 1st August imo .Once your season has started thats it.

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
I can't see how having the transfer window open after the season starts helps anyone other than buying clubs. Seems pretty unfair, but not likely to change.
Anyway, today's rumour is Toby to Atlético. I know it's not a "one or the other" choice, but would you guys rather keep Eriksen than Alderweireld? I think I'd be sorrier to see Toby go...

Re: Players Leaving Ajax
Up until last Sunday's game I would have agreed with you, no question -- but if Eriksen can play *consistently* the way he performed in that match, then I would rather keep him. The question is whether or not he can keep up that level of play -- let's see how he does over the next couple of game (assuming he's around that long).
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
If Toby leaves Ajax, this will be the end of the Belgian wave that saw so many belgians play for Ajax over the past 10 years, with Van Damme, Vertonghen, Sonck, Vermaelen, Verhoeven. I hope he does leave.
Re: Players Leaving Ajax
16 year old defender Nathan Leyder joined this summer so we still have a Belgian on our books when Toby goes.
