Ajax Youth & Amateurs

An item yesterday some report has come out and in the top European leagues last season 69 players from our youth academy played ,this of course was more than from any other club . I do know a couple of years ago I read we had more academy players playing pro footy that from any other club in Europe so the item yesterday was no surprise. Ajax academy is still No 1 at producing pro footballers.

This report does say an Academy player is someone who has spent 3 years at the club between 16 and 21 so they are not all local Dutch kids.

with the site going down tomorrow I will thus highlight the AEGON Future Cup this Saturday to Monday .It is U17's and will be on Dutch Tv so there will be links,firstrow bound to have some, and games are being shown on Eurosport.

In our group we play Toronto on Saturday at 11.30 CET ,Sao Paulo Saturday 14.30CET and Spurs on Sunday 13.00 CET.
The other group has Barcelona,Bayern Munich, Benfica and Anderlecht so we have the easiest group on paper.

Semis and Final are on Monday . Check with the Ajax official site ,its got and english link. Last year I remember we beat Man U in the final.

Eurosport in Uk is showing some games on Saturday and Sunday but the only group game of ours being shown appears to be Spurs (scheduled to be shown the next morning ie Monday.)The semi's ,3rd place and final are all being shown live . Games are an hour long.

Ajax will be their B1 squad but 3 players who are new are :

Riechedly Bazoer the defender signed before Christmas from PSV and not allowed to play league games

Vaclav Cerny a 15 year old Czech winger who is joining us next Jan when he is 16

Dimitri Silvestridis a Greek winger who is likely to join us in the summer when he is 16.

2 of our 3 15 year old talents will be playing Nouri and Walian (the 3rd Dekker is missing playing for Dutch U16's)

Ajax U17 started the Aegon Cup with a 1-0 win v Toronto,alas there was no streams.Walian scored our goal but Groothuizen the goalie was sent off thus we played over half the game with 10 men. Our next game starts at 14.30 CET v Sao Paulo .

U17 beat Sao Paulo 1-0 in their 2nd game Walian scored again and have qualified for the semis. They play Spurs tomorrow
but even a defeat and we qualify for Monday's semi.

Haven't had time to post but we finished runners up in the tournement. Having beaten Spurs 1-0 ,Efmorfidis the scorer we beat Benfica 5-0 in the semi this morning with Cerny the new Czech kid scoring 3 ,V Bruggen and Mirani the others.

In the final we lost 2-0 to Andelecht who looked quite a bit bigger than our boys. I started watching the final but broke a tooth half way through so missed the end . Still good that we got to the final and today they played 2 games ie 2x 60 mins and at 16 some only 15 thats probably alot of football.

^sorry to hear about the tooth!! I only saw the second half of the final so I missed the Anderlecht goals. They were bigger and also very solid defensively. I don't think the Ajax kids had even a single shot on goal in the 2nd half.

Competitive games still being played at youth level. This weekend is the Copa Amsterdam in the Olympic Stadium for U 19 teams. Our team will have a 19 year old German trialist Marvin Honer a striker from Bielefeld. Bazoer the 16 year old defender who has not been able to play league games since joining from PSV will play .

In our group we play Borusia Monchengladbach, Ajax Cape Town and Chelsea Ghana


Our B1 U17 team having won their league last week play the U17 cup final tomorrow v Groningen. During the week they won the semi 2-0 v Fword in Rotterdam. This group of players looks as if they have lots of talents.

NB Just altered my original post as the squad has been announced and we wont play V Kessel just our normal A1 squad plus Bazoer and Honer the trialist.

Our B1 ie u17 won the U17 cup today v Groningen 3-2 having been 2-0 down at HT Riedewald ,who has played mainly for the
A1's since January scored the 1st and 15 year old Ezra Walian scored the other 2. Having won the league and cup double they have to play Fword in the super cup ,Fword being league runners up. Clearly a talented bunch this year and the 2 youngest Nouri and Walian will still play for the B1's next season.

Meanwhile in the Copa Amsterdam our U19's lost 1-0 to Monchengladbach. Each game is 2 halves of 25 mins.

We lined up with 3 defensive midfielders and a midfielder El Hasnaoui up front( We have 5 other forwards in the squad but not played today).In the end we have included 2 over age in our squad V Kessel a striker who has been on loan to Almere and Busse , a defender come defensive midfielder who was in our Jong Ajax team this season but has been released.Both played also the German trailist Honer got a few minutes .

The Ajax U19's played their 2 final group games today but have not reached the semi's and will just play off tomorrow for 5th place

1st up today was a0-0 draw with Ajax Cape Town who finished 2nd in the group behind Monchengladbach

Bazoer will be with the 1st team at pre season training which for a 16 year old is very impressive.

we ended up finishing 6th having lost to Spurs for the 5th place . 1-1 at normal time with V Kessel scoring the only goal and then of course we lost on penalties.

In the final Ajax CapeTown beat Monchengladbach 2-2 at the end but CapeTown won the penalties.Maybe there is some talent in CapeTown that we can sign !

As well as Bazoer starting the pre season with our 1st team Kenny Tete the 17 year old A1 right back is also starting the season in the 1st team . Clearly 2 talents that have been earmarked for early promotion

Ajax A1's are playing the annual tournement in Terborg (Near Doetinchem as in de Graafschap) and have reached the semis.

yesterday they beat Mineiro Brazil 3-2 with Bazoer,V Kessel and de Bondt the scorers. Good news in this game Davy Klaassen played his first game for 9 months.

Today they drew 2-2 with Leverkusen ,V Kessel and Menig the scorers and 0-0 v Porto.

Tomorrow the semi v Cruzeiro Brazil and the other semi Leverkusen v Vitesse

No team details are shown but no trialists included with Ajax and Klaassen and V Kessel the overage players with the rest just A1 players

Ajax U19's only finished 4th in the Terborg Tournement . They lost 2-0 in the semi to Cruzeira and in the 3rd and 4th place playoff drew 0-0 with Vitesse but lost on penalties. Cruzeira won the competition beating Leverkusen 1-0

We lost 4-1 having taken the lead by Acolatse. I will make a few comments later on as I have to watch the Tv

I ended up watching alot of the first half with the sound down as I was on telephone but we did play ok from what I saw and Acolatse scored from a Becker cross.Barca equalised just before HT. Barca were the stronger team in the 2nd and caught our defence flat footed a few times.

Not sure how old the Barca boys were and not all were Spanish but our team were all local lads and of the starting lineup
only the front 3 are 2nd year U19's ie the remaining 8 were in the U17's last season ( except Bazoer who did not play )thus Barca probably had a more experienced side. The Ajax lads will not win this competition but will certainly learn from the experience.

The front 3 Acolatse Menig and Becker were all lively but we played 2 defensive midfielders for all 90 mins and there is no new Eriksen in this team. Not sure why we played with 2 DM .

The remaining games will all be on Tv so hope to catch them. This game was shown on youtube and the stream in english.

Hoping for the youth to come through and 15 year old Ezra Walian a young striker made his A1 ie U19 debut yesterday in a6-1 win over Utrecht and scored a goal. Ricardo Kishna an 18 year old winger who has had terrible knee injuries over the last 2 years made a comeback yesterday in the A2 ie U19 2nd team. Before his injuries he was rated as a great talent so good luck to him.

Our U 19's are currently playing Milan U19's in the U19 CL ,game at de Toekomst. Its not on Tv so no streams
