This is great.

Researchers discovered a 100 year-old film reel of a football match. The ground was easily identified as the ground of DFC in Dordrecht. At first they thought it was footage of DFC vs Sparta (Rotterdam), because the legendary Sparta player Bok de Korver was recognized, but it turns out to be a Holland vs Belgium fixture from 1912.

Now, why is this 'Ajax history'?

One of the Holland players (in white) is Gé Fortgens, the first Ajax player ever called up for the national team. Which means that these are the oldest moving images of an Ajax player, almost exactly 100 years old.

The oldest known video footage of Ajax is from 1918. Not available on the internet (I think), but only on DVD.

The promises team ie Dutch U21 2nd team play in the Toulon tournement starting today .The Dutch games will be on Eurosport and Ligeon Veltman Koppers and Lukoki are in the
squad(Ebecilio was but dropped out with injury)

First game today KO 20.00 CET v Egypt and its on Eurosport The other games are Japan on Friday and Turkey Sunday, semi next Weds and the final on June 1st.

The main Dutch U21's have 2 qualifying matches for the 2013 Euro champs coming up next week and just Blind and V Rhijn are included. They played Macedonia last night in warm up and lost 1-0

Finally the Dutch U 19's are playing 3 qualifiers for July's Euro Champs finals in the next week and only Nieuwpoort Dijks and Sporkslede are included . de Sa has been injured for a few weeks but Klaassen was not in the initial squad and although Denswil was he too has been dropped or rested. Both played for Ajax U 19's in a tournement at Terborg last weekend and were not injured !!(NB. Ajax finished 2nd to Cruzeiro of Brazil)

He was born in the Congo but has lived many years in Holland and played at u19 level for Holland. I quess as duel nationality he could still play for the Congo.

Just watched the Dutch beat Egypt 3-0 in this promises team comp at Toulon. Because of the Olympics it is an U23 comp but there is only 1 Dutch lad over 21 . The Egypt team is their official Olympic games team with some full Ints. They did get a red card midway in the second half but Holland won comfortably. Koppers and Veltman played all the match and had good games with Koppers pass setting up the first goal . Lukoki came on at HT and showed his speed several times beating the defenders but near the end he beat his man went to the byline and a perfect cross was put into the net . Classic wing play .
As you will gather our trio are all our Reserve players and V Haaren ws Fwords only player and he has only been a sub for their firsts . The rest of the Dutch team play fairly regularly but all for the lesser clubs ie Excelsior de Graafschap,Hercales RKC NEC with striker Barazite not good enough for Vitesse a year ago now at Monaco so basically the Dutch team are not stars from our top teams.

Lukoki has the speed and ball skills to drive the opposition crazy -- he just has to learn what is the best thing to do with the ball after he beats his man. Hopefully, it will all come good for him this coming season.

Rounding up junior Ints yesterday

Promises team in Toulon lost 3-2 to Japan and need a result tomorrow v Turkey to get to the semis. Ligeon and Lukoki played all the game and Veltman came on as sub.Koppers not used.

Dutch U21's drew a friendly v Ukraine 0-0 with Blind and V Rhijn both playing

Dutch U 19's playing the 1st of 3 qualifiers for the U19 finals in July won 2-1 v Norway. Our 3 Nieuwpoort Sporkslede and Dijks all played.

I notice that of the 9 players involved at Junior level this week 8 are defenders and with the highly rated Denswil not picked for the u19's thats alot of defensive talent .

The U 19's won 3-0 over the Czech Rep with just Sporkslede and Nieuwpoort playing .

bad results today with Dutch U 19 losing 6-0 to France and thus not in the U19 euro finals. Nieuwpoort Sporkslede played all game and Dijks came on as a sub

The promises team were beaten 4-2 by Mexico in the Toulon semi final, Koppers and Lukoki played .

To wrap up the promises team finished 3rd in the Toulon tournement they beat France 3-2 on Friday . Veltman played the whole game and Ligeon and Lukoki came on as subs.I overlooked Bizot who played in this game and the group game vJapan. Having been on loan last season he is likely to stay on loan .

The Dutch U 21's won 5-0 v Luxembourg in a 2013 Euro U 21 qualifier. Blind played all the game at left back and V Rhijn came on as a sub.

They play Bulgaria on Tuesday and thats it for Dutch youth until next season.

Dutch U21 aka Jong Holland beat Bulgaria last night 5-0 in a Euro qualifier with Blind starting and VRhijn coming on as sub. Thats it for junior Dutch teams now until next season.

I saw the match from the 30th minute to the end. Blind had a very fine match though Bulgaria really never threatened to score. van Rhijn only played the final 10 minutes.

Jong Oranje beat Austria 4-1 earlier today and reach the 2013 Euro U 21 playoffs. Blind played left back. Dijks was unused sub and Lukoki dropped out earlier in the week with an injury .

Oranje teams from U17 to U20 playing over the next week and there are lots of Ajax in each squad.

^ I don't think van Gaal had any choice. He has to revamp the entire defense as well as formation. I think he will continue to sort things out over the next several qualification matches and we might even see more changes. If Van der Wiel comes alive at PSG, he very well may be back in the starting lineup. I think Stekelenburg's days as a starter are over. He had a weak Euro tournament and Krul has surpassed him.
