Perhaps it meant taking over the armband until Vertonghen is fit.

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg

oh well... i really do not like to see ajacied going to that club, but what can you do?

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
A sell-on % on a keeper doesn't sound like a good deal for the selling club. Keepers don't change clubs very often.
I think I lost my fucking headache
Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Whatever is gonna happen, do it now and not on August 31. Same with the central defense. Now or not at all.

Interesting that they say Roma "significantly increased their offer"

yes, but they have the numbers slightly wrong: it was last at 7 and they raised it to 8-9
so yeah, i was wrong about the sell-on... apparently roma caved, because i know they really wanted to spend no more than 7-ish
good for us then

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Interesting you mention Van der Sar... Remember that his career abroad started with a really shit year at Juventus? He let in all kinds of soft goals there.ofey schreef:Hopefully you make it as big as Edwin has and will perhaps return in your later years... .
Second year at Juventus was better already, but things really took off for him in England.

I think its about the best result for everyone involved.. best of luck to him.
Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Best wishes to Steks on the new part of his career. He's also going to a club that has really cool looking kits; best design and colors in Italia.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Can't say I'm surprised Wenger dropped the ball on this. Will be interesting to see how many points poor goaltending costs the gooners this term....

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
That guy is the cheapest SOB in the world. What is it, 7 years with no trophies? Hello? Most "top, level managers" would be fired by now. They need to get rid of that guy if they ever want to be a "Great Club" like us instead of only being a "Good Club" like they are now.#14 schreef:Can't say I'm surprised Wenger dropped the ball on this. Sorry but the truth hurts sometimes and the Gunners fans are brainwashed on this guy. Steks was one of his missing links to finally winning the CL. He never would do a gaff like the one that cost them the Carling Cup. I absolutely killed myself laughing at that one!

Good luck Steks! Thanks for everything!
Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Sad to see Maarten go, think he couldve gone to a bigger club but hes been a true Ajacied and deserves his chance to go abroad. I'd be more depressed if we didnt have Kenny who in my opinion can be just as good if not better with regular first team action
Wit-rood-wit zit in ons bloed! We zijn de beste en zo goed. Ik spring me hele leven lang, voor: Ajax Amsterdam!

Re: Maarten Stekelenburg
Maarten Stekelenburg was officially presented in Rome yesterday.
I'm sorry to see him go, but after nine years in Ajax's first squad I can understand that he wanted to move on to a bigger league. He's 28. This is his moment - and I think he'll soon move on to a better club.
I wish him well.
