I consider this loss icnredibly humiliating. Really, we take their best player away nd still we lose oh god, what a slap in the face. Co's definitely got our number.

Re: 30 Jul 2011: Ajax - FC Twente
Its humiliating because we let them score while being a man down. Twente are still a very good team with an excellent coach, I would not have felt bad had we lost while playing 11 against 11 but after we went a man up it was basically our game to loose and that we did....in front of our own supporters. Not a bad match, but poor defending when we needed it the most.
BRING IT ON !!!!...
Re: 30 Jul 2011: Ajax - FC Twente
To quote JC, "Playing against 10 is harder than playing against 11 players. You know why? The team with 11 will think “ok, we can take it easy now”, while the team with 10 will think “we really have to work hard now".."
The final 30 minutes were some of the worst football that I have ever seen. Everyone wanted to be a hero and nobody wanted to do what needed to be done to get the 2nd goal. We get gifted a 10 against 11 situation and what happens, nothing! I found the two substitutions by FdB curious as Sigthorsson was playing quite well up front. I know he had words with Boileson and maybe there was something about his play that FdB was angry about. It is clear that Blind is not of sufficient quality either in the middle back or left back; he just makes too many mistakes. We played good football for about 40 minutes with nice crisp passing and good movement off the ball.
FdB is not a happy man after this travesty.

Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: 30 Jul 2011: Ajax - FC Twente
Don't forget that Boilesen, VDW and Kollbein havn't been in training as long as the rest. They have to be prepared for the competition, more so than playing in this match.
Good first half, poor 2nd. Twente wins, but they disappointed.

Re: 30 Jul 2011: Ajax - FC Twente
should have won this but a really soft penalty . Ruiz scored a superb goal but losing to 10 men not good enough .
Blind is not good enough and although Ooijer is still decent if Toby or Jan get injured he is our only cover!!! Finally Sigthorrson played well but we need another striker.
Playing with 3 wingers how are you going to score?

I know someone probably will give me a greata rticulate answer to this question that I will make with a very hot head right now. But Why didn't Serero come on? I could totally see him at least getting fouled close to the box for a Janssen free kick, I really had the image in my mind with the way I saw him dribbling and moving during the friendlies. I knwo we can say they are just friendlies, but if we can't use them to audition and see what our new players can do then I don't lnw what's the pont.

Just got back from watching the game at Leidseplein - very soft penalty to concede but really we should have won as we had the vast majority of offensive possession and chances.
I'll try and type a fuller summary in the morning, suffice to say though that the atmosphere at "Cafe Mokum" was excellent and made it worth going out - certainly better than the AZ Euroipa League qualifying game I went to the might before last......

I was hesitant to put money on the game since Co was in charge and apparently he does have our number.
From my perspective, it's embarrassing for us to have bought Theo (essentially their heart) from them and lose to their 10 men.
The season start can't come soon enough!

Ah. Come on. It's a pre-season friendly. Officially the Cruijff Shield is a real trophy, but it really isn't. I don't give a flying f*ck about it.ajaxcolombia schreef:I consider this loss icnredibly humiliating.
Frank de Boer subbed Sightorsson and Van der Wiel because he wanted to rest them. "I didn't want to take any risks, with the league in mind," he said. That sums it all up.
No biggie, this.
I thought Ajax looked quite good, actually. Especially when Twente were still playing with eleven men.

I'm with Ko and Aveslacker on this. The game was a friendly and we obviously used it as that. If you listen (or read) Frank's assessment of the game... Actually read this: “Twente deserve this lift, Especially after what happened in their stadium, and the results of that.”
“Of course we would have loved to win the Johan Cruijff Plate. But it you lose this match, then the point is how you played. We didn’t dominate like that all year. This is a big positive for us and we’ll take that into our next matches. We’re disappointed, but we’re moving ahead with our chin up.”
De Boer was complimented by Adriaanse, who celebrated his return to the Netherlands with an immediate prize. “The best team doesn’t always win, that was clear tonight.”
I was impressed by the domination in midfield even with no 'real' defensive player. With Vertonghen back we should be laughing, but i do feel we need another defender.

I agree completely. if we don't buy a defender (and I am pretty sure we wont) please frank when vertonghen is injured or suspended, field boilesen and not blind as CB: he has to be better.

I also think Nicolai has to be better than Blind, Daley is definitely no Danny!!
I say use some of the money from Maarten and Moonie (if he does go) to buy a solid CB to give Toby some competition.

Plus, in the last 15 years only twice has the winner of the JC Schaal won the league in the following year. So this definitely brings us good luck as well....just as last year..aveslacker schreef:I'm with Ko. We have a long season ahead of us. No reason to get dejected about one match.

Mwoah. Daley doesn't have the talent or the skills to become as good as hid father was.

Daley Blind is a wing back, most wing backs cant play as centre backs. You are all being too hard on him

Re: 30 Jul 2011: FC Twente - Ajax
I'm going to say this without really believing it, just to see what you think. (I haven't had a chance to watch this season's version of Ajax defense prior to the Twente game, but...)
~ My impression is that the defense did a pretty solid job but was guilty of two momentary lapses in concentration, and Twente took full advantage. It wasn't like Twente were continuously allowed to penetrate the defense and shoot on goal. Very few chances. I thought the Ajax defense did well, in the main. Discuss.
Now here's something I really DO believe:
~ I was more surprised by the reaction of this forum (e.g. so negative) than by the result itself. I thought Ajax looked great, playing with skill and flair, controlling the tempo of the game, staying organized. Normally, you can say "Yeah, but it all comes down to the result." Not in this case, however. The JCS is a warm-up, not a meaningful piece of silverware. Discuss.

Re: 30 Jul 2011: FC Twente - Ajax
I think most of us who have posted are saying it's not an important loss, because we looked good and we're the better team. We are pointing out where we think needs work for the new season, e.g. Daley not being the answer as cover for Center Back.

Re: 30 Jul 2011: FC Twente - Ajax
i think the gloom on the part of many (me included), which has been noted previously, is that we bought their best player and then couldn't beat them when they were down to 10 men. there's simply no way to walk away from that with a good taste in your mouth. i do think ajax looked the better team, jan will make us all feel better when he returns on defense, and this certainly doesn't mean in any remote way that the season is lost.
to be honest, there was one other thing that bothered me (having watched the game stream). i'm all for good sportsmanship - and i understand janssen just came over from twente - but after the final whistle, rather than rounding up with his current teammates, he was immediately yucking it up with his former teammates. that just didn't sit well with me....
