Re: Ajax friendlies
I watched the game , think it came from chelsea tv via sky , enjoyed it .So many players from our academy on the field in the second half and the move of the day was that 3rd goal .Bonevacia is only 18 and looks good.Dare I say the next one off the production line!!
NB.
on streams I notice NVS are showing Twente's friendly , they showed all our games last season ,via sopcast, so looks like we may well be alright for this season.

Re: Ajax friendlies
Watched only the second half. Naice combination Bonevacia-Blind-Suk fot the 3-rd goal. De Zeeuw is, i think, out of form, Urby too. But the season is not even started, so - nice game. Sarpong - good, but not outstanding, Zeegelaar - still not for the first team. Mayby only agajnst De Graafschap og Excelsior
Re: Ajax friendlies
Encouraging result and comments on several players. But, Mido, Ten Cate, Boukhari ? Sounds like Back to the Future ? I wonder if there was a DeLorean in the car park just to complete the effect.

D.C. United to host AFC Ajax in international friendly
Black-and-Red to face legendary Dutch side May 22
Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2011) - D.C. United announced today plans for the club will play an international friendly against legendary Dutch Eredivisie side AFC Ajax on Sunday, May 22 at RFK Stadium. Though Ajax played a 1-1 draw against the U.S. Men’s National Team at RFK Stadium on May 12, 1990, this will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m. ET.
“We’re excited to kick off our 2011 schedule of international games with one of the most honored teams in European soccer, Ajax of Amsterdam,” said United President and CEO Kevin Payne. “This match will be the first of several matches this season featuring top quality European opponents and we’re pleased that our season ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend each of these matches as a part of their package.”
Tickets for this match are available as part of Full Season Ticket plans and 10-Game Plan A Holders as Special Game A. Groups of 15 or more may now purchase discounted tickets at $25 for Spectator level, $30 for Premium, $40 for VIP and $50 for Mezzanine level. Individual game tickets will go on sale Monday, March 21 for $30 at the Spectator level, $40 at Premium level, $50 at VIP level and $60 at the Mezzanine level.
Founded in 1900 and named after the mythological Greek hero bearing the same name, Ajax is among the most successful clubs in the world. Ajax is one of only five teams to repeat as European champions, having accomplished the feat in 1971-1973. The club won a European treble, three major titles in a single season, in 1972 and claimed the last of four European titles (now known as Champions League) in 1995. Ajax has won the Eredivisie league title on 29 occasions. The club plays their home matches at the famed Amsterdam ArenA, which opened in 1996. Ajax currently stand in third place in the Dutch Eredivisie, a mere three points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.
“We are truly honored to be coming to the US and playing the most storied franchise in MLS history,” said Manager Frank de Boer. “We are fully aware of the passionate D.C. United fans and we look forward to show casing our unique brand of Ajax football as we visit the States for the first time in many years.”
Ajax is, perhaps, best known for their development of world-class players from their youth ranks. Best known from this group of legendary players is Johan Cruijff, the iconic forward plied his trade at RFK Stadium from 1980-1981 as a member of the NASL’s Washington Diplomats, but also Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Frank Rijkaard. Their current roster boasts the likes of Holland national team goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and defender Gregory van der Wiel, who both played in the last world cup final in South Africa. Alongside these two players the Ajax squad will feature Danish talent Christian Eriksen and Belgian national team players Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Broadcasting and P.A. Request: When speaking of the organization, please refer to the team as either “D.C. United” or “United,” but not “the D.C. United” or “the United.” We appreciate your cooperation.

Really not being bitchy her - I do watch MLS on ESPN when it's on but does this last sentence tell a story about some of the resistance I've heard about to MLS from the more "traditional" sports reporters in the USA. DC United are definately one of the best known and more successful teams yet have serious concerns that (presumably) sports journalists won't even be able to describle them properly by their designated name.Roche schreef: Broadcasting and P.A. Wow - that would be a nice one to go to...
I've never really been to DC, except that I was once stuck at Dulles Airport for about eight hours, on my way back to Amsterdam, from Chicago... This was during the 1998 World Cup and I remember watching all the games of the day (including a Holland one) at some sports bar at the airport.

Re: Ajax friendlies
Ajax playing a friendly tomorrow v Shimizu S-pulse of Japan a benefit game . KO 20.30 CET game is on tv so will be on a stream and probably myp2p will have links.
Many Jong in the squad
Verhoeven Bizot
Vertonghen, Oleguer, Ooijer, Boilesen, Kappelhof, V Rhijn , Koppers
Enoh, Lodeiro, de Zeeuw, Bonevacia,Sneijder
Sulejmani,Cvitanich, Ozbiliz, Ebecilio, Jozefzoon.
7 from the Jong in the side. Vink ,the Jong Ajax coach said today that Jozefzoon is to sign a new contract ,thus he is probably now considered. Bizot,V Rhijn and Kappelhof are the 3 Jong players for whom no mention has been made of extending contracts but their selection in this game surely suggests they are not being released.

Re: Ajax friendlies
Okay - this would be absolutely flippin' brilliant.
It's not been confirmed, but there's talk on the Ajax Life and AFCA Supportersclub websites of two friendly games at the Olympic Stadium (!) against two clubs we won World Cups (Intercontinental Cups) against. Independiente on 21 July, Grêmio on 24 July.
That would be awesome and a gazillion times better than the Amsterdam Tournament.

Siem de Jong
Lorenzo Ebecilio
Kenneth Vermeer
André Ooijer
Theo Janssen
Daley Blind

I believe Jan Vertonghen and Derlk Boerrigter have injuries at present. I saw where Nicolai Boilesen and Cristian Eriksen are scheduled back from their U-21 EC and holiday on Monday. Not sure if Kolbeinn Sightorrson is also one of the 11th reportees .
EDIT : That'll teach me to read the article . Gregory van der Wiel and the aforementioned Boilesen, Eriksen, and Sigtorsson are all due in Monday.
Upcoming fixtures are SV Jahn Regensburg - Ajax on the 13th and 1.FC Nurnberg - Ajax on the 16th.

Re: Ajax friendlies
V Rhijn dropped already and Koppers will be when Vertoghen fit so therefore none of our young reserve defenders are deemed good enough .
Our defence will be V d Wiel, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Boilesen with Blind reserve left back and Anita reserve right back and only Ooijer for the centre back positions . I think we need another central defender. As for right back we have 4 spare right backs not good enough for the first team ie VRhijn,Silva, Toivomaki with Ligeon likely to be the main Jong Ajax right back.
Looking at the squad for Germany with Lodeiro and Aissati to return we still have too many midfielders.
Frank de Boer has said he will cut the squad after Germany. He still has some decisions to make.

Re: Ajax friendlies
Blind slotted into the central defense when Koppers came on yesterday so he can provide additional coverage there. I think you may be a little harsh on van Rhijn and Koppers at this point. They are still young and it may be they see first team action at some point in the future.SPL schreef:V Rhijn dropped already and Koppers will be when Vertoghen fit so therefore none of our young reserve defenders are deemed good enough .

I was just looking at the present time in saying V Rhijn and Koppers are not deemed good enough.I think they may well make it but at this moment De Boer clearly does not think they are ready.

I will post here as Ajax played a friendly today at de Toekomst behind closed doors v Go Ahead Eagles. We won 3-1 . It was for the spare first teamers not on Int duty plus Jong
thus neither a first team or Jong team game .

Apart from Bulykin just about the same players who played on Monday for the Jong
Cillessen
Ligeon, V Rhijn, Blind, Koppers
de Kamps(Arica), Rits, Serero

Talk of a home game v Celtic but games in England v Southampton and Norwich.Good news as Southampton is only an hour by train from me. We went to Norwich a few years ago so I would go there as well. Not quite the Arena but 2 live games in England would be nice.
