He said in the papers today that Ajax would always be his team and that he'd love to return one day but not yet. Can't remember if that was in the Independent that I bought or the Sun that I found on the bus......

Yeah I'm serious, he has the skill set Franky is looking for and knows Eriksen from the national team. Like someone has posted here the only thing he probably hasn't got is the team work ethic. But he is a solid center forward with European experience and I think a move from Arsenal to us would be good for him.

Neither would I, but if we would get someone from PL i would rather have Blackburn's Nikola Kalinic, who's also available and should not be too expensive - just my opinion

Nevertheless I trust Frank and think he'll find a suitable striker for Ajax, we all know we NEED one!!!

Im glad Mathijsen didnt come to Ajax. I hope Inter approach Ajax with a player plus cash exchage between Vertonghen and Chivu :)

The only thing that worries me about losing Vertonghen is his ability to go forward as sweeper. It is hard to find a central back with such technique. Chivu would be nice, it would add some experience but Jan's the man!!

Chivu is too old and one concussion away from ending his career. We do not need to go after older players despite their history with the club. Were this approach to be followed we would bring back Marco van Basten and end our search for a striker.

on a side note though, i see PSG are in talks to take Samuel Eto'o from Inter, if PSG can do it why cant we?! imagine him up front in the eredivise?

Yeah, Leonardo has spoke to him and PSG are a newly rich team after some oil money.

If Vertonghen leaves I still think, as I have posted before, that Hector Moreno from AZ would be a good replacement for him, lets try get a (€8m should do it) double deal for Sigthorsson and Moreno.

sightorsson is nearer and nearer, according to dutch press. ajax and az are working on details.
we have our new striker, and also the team pretty much done. with oleguer, lindgren gone, aissati almost gone and el hamdaoui clearly out of first team and on sale, we just have to resist for vertonghen and de zeeuw and to get rid of silva and cvitanich. don't know which one is more difficult!!!
