We have to give him a special thanks for stepping into the breach last year when both Stekelenberg and Vermeer were out injured. He made some great saves and kept the team afloat until Vermeer was ready to come back on. A lesser keeper might not have made such a difference.

I always had a soft spot for him, as it were. My only real life Ajax game so far was our 2–1 victory over ADO den Haag, when he was playing for them, which I think was the game in which he earned the nickname. He seemed to be having fun with it then—faking out the crowd so they yelled "Pizza!" incorrectly, etc.

there is also his mark on the last year championship. Wish him well, he seem a down to earth guy and for sure he is a good keeper.
