Well, unless Jol changes the system......I can't see it happening!!! Suarez looked sharp enough but El Hamdaoui looked sluggish again....he might be a goal scorer, but if he can't fit into a system with Suarez, while we still have him:

Give the partnership time. I have a feeling it will be very deadly in a few weeks or so, once they get to know how each other move, play the ball, etc.

Don't forget too that this was a major away fixture, and it didn't seem like the squad were under instructions from Jol to attack very much. Most of the attacking was fast on the break which didn't give either striker very much freedom to create or get really involved.

If the Suarez - El Hamdaoui partnership doesn't work out (and I agree it's idiotic to give up on it after one game) it should be Suarez that we get rid of - not El Hamdaoui.

We know that Suarez is going to be with us one more season max, so then if teh partnesrship doesn't work out we should sell Suarez in January and move on.

I agree that it is Suarez to be sold early enough so we can replace him and integrate any replacement into the side. Depending on the next installment of " one of the most important matches blah, blah , blah..." , the home draw vs. Dynamo Kiev , and whether we qualify or not, that sell by date could move up to August 31 .

Ajax just look so unprofessional to me these days. Take the 1-0 lead, lock up the game against ten men, and let Kiev be the vulnerable team in search of a goal. Do that, and you're practically in the CL.
But what do these geniuses do? Basically the same as in the second halves at Paok and Groningen. Try to dictate the game and open up the back. When the game is in hand, and there is absolutely no need to go for another goal and expose the extremely vulnerable transition defense.

I really do not agree with you. Ajax had full control on the game, and were playing with 11 against 10. So it was a logical strategy to put more pressure and to try to score a second goal that would have eliminated Kiev for sure.

Besides, I feel confident about the return leg.
