Absolutely terrible defensive play by both fullbacks. Anita gets caught upfield from a player he should be marking ending up in the first goal. Van der Wiel, what can be said; constantly putting us at danger and not even doing much offensively. Another goal mouth scramble leading to goal #2. Damn, these should be locked down when you go up 2-0. Sure it always was going to be a tricky match but not one that we should have dropped points on the way it turned out.

Cant say its a surprise, Ajax just cant defend under pressure, plain and simple, the fact that we had no one to help from the bench hurt too, i just think the team got tired after 60 minutes and thats when groningen put down the pedal...you could see that the team was not fit enough. Remember that we have played a lot of matches in the recent days with out a very good pre season. It hurts to have wasted a two goal lead but in the end a draw at the Euroborg aint that bad.

El hamdoui and Suarez are going to fucking rock the eredivisie.

This was so unnecessary. In spite of what anybody else might say, I thought Ajax played quite well in the first half hour: they knocked the ball around quite well, they were calm and focused. At half time I thought: just carry on like this and wait for the chances. And there they were: bang, 0-1 and 0-2. Game over. Stay awake, stay focused and keep playing. No problem at all. You're on your way to a near-perfect, very solid away win.

But almost immediately after the second goal Ajax fell asleep. They were asking for trouble - and they got it. Very, very daft and totally unnecessary.

We're always gonna score goals, Suarez and El Hamdaoui are going to be immense but we need to sort out the defense, we cant afford to be dropping points wastefully, we werent out played today, i could understand that, but we were just tired and poor. We can do better though!

Gave up two late goals, and the win, all over again. If recent history is any indication, two points, lost today in the most nonchalant of ways, could easily make the difference at the end of the line. But again, Ajax doesn't seem to have learned that lesson. We'll finish great in 2011f, and fall just short. Virtually guaranteed with 33 games to go.

90% of defense is mental. That's the category we are lacking. As Ko noted, we tend to zone out. Maybe it's because we traditionally have so much possession that we don't spend much time playing under pressure during matches. Same think happened against PAOK but all we needed was a high scoring draw to go through. Groningen will be a tough match on their home grounds for the other teams but this is still a bitter result.

Strange isnt it? Three games in a row... same thing. Play well first half, gain the lead and fall asleep after that.

Its more strange that the head coach's name is Jol. I always thought he has the ability to make his team be tough and not to give away anything. Its clear now that the boys dont have it... he better inject this to them ASAP.
I always think is very important to win the first games, it gives momentum and room for improvement. In fact the first games were those that cost the title last year. And the excuses... Jol just came in, he didnt know the team etc. What can we say now?

Had to go out today but watched the first half and thought a draw would be ok but came home to see we gave away a 2-0 lead for the second game in arow. Glad the new boy started well and yes with Suarez we will scores loads of goals but we need an experienced defender.

Yeah, I went out too and missed the second half though I did hear it was 2-1 to us. Just watched the whole second half I'd recorded. It's not the result so much that hurts (I could have settled for a draw in the circumstances) but the way we conceded, especially the second one - what a bloody mess!

We looked very very shaky in defense today I thought, even with Vertongen out Oleguer should have been an adequate replacement - he's hardly a novice!

Missed the first half but saw the second. I think we're missing Enoh in the mid field. The defenders were getting caught in possession time and time again with no one to protect them.

Also in the past 3 games I've noticed a strange phenomenon. Player in midfield/defense gets caught in defense, keeps passing the ball back until it is with Steks. Steks just kicks it really long
1. into the side line OR
2. other team's keeper OR
3. other team's player.
This happens at least 5/6 times a half and doesn't help us in any way.

All in all - I'll take a draw at the Euroborg. But, today we actually had a win and we kind of gave it away. Sucks.
