I'm trying to learn German at the moment and it gets very confusing. There are a lot of similarities in the language between Dutch and German, but the spelling is slightly different and the pronunciation also different (much softer/less guttural).

In one way it helps and you can pick up more words here and there (especially while reading), but it does make it harder to speak. Being bought up with a Dutch family, I always use a guttural 'G', when I say German words, a big giveaway that I am not a German speaker.

Problem is now when I try to speak Dutch I have started to introduce the German way of saying things, which is probably not a good idea to do if you can help it :smallgrin.gif:

That IS a random question, but simple answer: No :ajaxsmiley.gif:

But now I have to ask. Why?

Because I once sat next to a Dutch Aussie Ajax fan (and his hot girl -- something you Aussies have a lot of) on a flight from Port Vila to Sydney. We talked in Dutch about Ajax.

I thought it would be pretty amazing if it turned out to be someone on this board. This was a few years ago, but for some reason it only occurred to me to ask about it just now.

Oh well. :headbang.gif:

Re-posting...
Raymon schreef:Hi there, nothing to do with football, so maybe Ko knows a better topic for this, but I'm very interested in the dollar prices for Disney World Orlando. All I can seem to find are UK sites that resell these tickets but of course I have no idea if those tickets are cheaper (or more expensive) if I buy them at the gate, considering the current rate of the dollar against the pound.

Hopefully one of the American posters can help me out here.

Much appreciated!
K.

Thanks Ko :)

To broaden my question, does anyone know of things to do around Orlando?

As usual I've been following all the UK transfer news on the bbc http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 482819.stm

There's a few Dutch transfers here involving UK teams but des anyone know a link like this one that gives all the NL transfer news?

Thanks

Hi SE6.

Will be interested to see what any of our Dutch friends come up with as I like to see who is moving in Holland.

You might want to check out elfvoetbal.nl. Although in Dutch it is easy to follow .Click on transfers heading and all the dutch clubs come up. Each one shows their buys and sells so far this summer and also lists for the last 2 years.

I can easily follow these Dutch sites with my limited knowledge of the language although a little knowledge is dangerous.

Thank goodness this messageboard is still open and working as I can ask questions from you experts.

Cheers SPL, hadn't seen that site before (from the magazine of the same name I expect) - I'll have a look around it anyway - looks good

There is also vi.nl or more specifically for Ajax transfers:
http://www.vi.nl/NieuwsItem/Transferove ... 09Ajax.htm

VI is from the Voetbal International magazine, and also covers a lot of World Football news.

Note - That the site is also in Dutch.

Cheers Dan, yeah - I've got that one already - good site though. Some site called Ajaxtalk or something ( :smallgrin.gif: ) keeps me quite up to date on Ajax transfers but I'm quite surprised that there doesn't seem to be one with a transfer list for the whole Dutch league.

Anyway, I can recommend a site of my own http://www.hollandsevelden.nl/competities/ , a real goldmine of information on the Dutch leagues....especially if you want to check on the Amateur league tables or check where abouts in the league system a particular team plays.
