According to football journalist Hugo Borst, one of the big shots in football talkshow Studio Voetbal, AZ winger Kenneth Perez will join Ajax next season. Borst claims that it's not a done deal yet, but that Ajax and AZ have the intention to reach an agreement. The Dane's contract in Alkmaar will expire in 2007 and he will not renew.

Perez is a fantastic player and a very good left winger indeed, but there are one or two AZ players I would rather sign... Landzaat and Mathijsen, for example...

I read recently that the Ajax youth system has not supplied the first team with a left-winger since Bryan Roy! Oh well...

Can't help thinking that Blind is concentrating on the wrong end of the pitch. Instead of panic-buys like Huntelaar, he should be getting us two new full-backs, a back-up centre-back, and a decent goalkeeper.

And a decent natural-leader-of-men stile midfielder - a la a young Roy Keane.

Do we have a backup number 10? Are we even playing with a genuine number 10 when Sneijder's fit? Not having seen a game this season, I got the impression we were playing 4-3-3 with a defensive midfielder and two central or a left and right midfielder...

Perez is a very good player, but what about the defense? It's our biggest problem.

I doubt we will sign Perez...AZ will do what they did with Vlaar, and that is out price Ajax out of the equation. The only players we can sign from AZ are those who are out of contract (Please let that be Landzaat :worshippy: )

what is happening with majstorovic? is he going to basle? I want him to come to Ajax. It would be good to have a proper hardnut in the team, it really would.

Some more breaking news: in FC Godenzonen on AT5 (which is on right now; they just announced the Stam deal) it is said that Ajax are closing in on AZ's Kenneth Perez and that he is likely to sign a three year deal today or tomorrow. Reported transfer fee: 2.5 or 3 million euros.

Not sure, but I would think we're talking about a summer transfer here.

We completely outsmarted PSV on the Stam deal. They wanted him too, because Chelsea are likely to claim Alex for next year.

I was under the impression that Stam was at his best in his English days. Am I wrong? In that case, were did 'the real Stam ' play?

Yes, fingers crossed this doesn't turn into Frank Verlaat Mk. II. But then again, even an aged Jaap Stam is better than Verlaat...

And 3 million euroquids for 31 year old Kenneth Perez is very good business for AZ. It smacks of desperation to be honest. (edit: don't get me wrong though, he's a great player)

Let's not get our hopes up too much here.

No matter if he is as great as he has been; we still get a leader to the team! An experienced fighter who can lead our young team.

Stam sounds like an excellent buy....I must admit, I thought he was excellent for MoanU. They only sold him because he fell out with Ferguson (not a good move, ask Roy Keane). Apparently it was as simple as that, one week he had just bought a new house in Cheshire (near Manchester) and the next week, that book was published and he was gone.

Anyway, great signing I think and Jacobg is right, a leader who is just what we need right now (and although I suppose the whole team will speak English, speaking Dutch might help with keeping some of our youngsters in shape)
