1. Italy. Juve are appealing the ruling. Not surprising. It wouldn't be surprising to see the others do the same. It will be interesting to see whether the punishment that was handed out today is really the same punishment implemented after the appeals.

2. U.S. In reading about the vacant U.S. coaching position, and the potential candidates, I've seen a couple articles mention that Hiddink's contract with Russia has fallen through and he's available. Is this true?! It's the first I've heard of it! If it's true, he'd go to the top of my list for the U.S. job (just ahead of Klinsmann).

Say no to Jurgen. Unless he brings Klose ,Schweinsteiger, or Ballack with him. I just think he benefited from a side which was talented,if under performing, and found its form at the right time. Not the first time a German side found its form in a WC setting.

I'd definitely prefer a manager who is used to taking on a side not known for being all that internationally, the US is SHITE in Europe, and molds them. READ: Guus Hiddink or someone like him.

Australia want to organize the World Cup finals in 2018. And - according to a few comments - they have a chance to get it. In 2010 WC will be in South Africa, in 2014 it will probably be South America, so why not Oceania in 2018? :xyxthumbs:

This all depends on one major thing. Europe. FIFA want to introduce spreading the WC each 4 years around the globe, but I wouldn't be surprised if Europe get in again in 2018 (Ned/Bel are looking at a joint bid btw). I can't see the Europeans being happy about waiting 16 years to get it again.

My gut feel is that Europe will put the pressure on and get it in 2018 and as happened to SA, FIFA will announce that Australia will host in 2022. boy cant wait for that ;)

hmm, Australia is actually in the asian confederation, and they had the WC in 2002. To be in Oceania the WC will have to be brought to New Zealand, or American Samoa and the like.

Sepp wants to introduce a fixed policy for the WC, so it travels the globe each 4 years. He wants this in place before he leaves (or is forced out). Either way I still can't see us getting the WC until 2022, but you never know. One thing is for sure, if we do get it the crowds will be huge. 100,000 at the MCG in Melbourne, 90,000 in Sydney etc. Would be massive.

Oh yeah and Frans is correct in an earlier post. Aust now belongs in Asia, not Oceania. Don't know why they just dont remove Oceania and join it together with Asia would give more funds to all the teams.

Yes ,maybe in Brazil ...but if Brazil didn´t do a good panamerican next year in Rio de Janeiro ,it will be in Canada ,to introduce the "soccer" there

I don't know much about the arguements for and against but this sort of thing rarely if ever happens. In effect, the Oceania Federation would abolish itself which means a whole lot of people giving up their roles/titles/priviledges etc etc in that Federation.

I don't think it'll happen for that reason alone...or am I wrong or excessively cynical?

It´s a test ...if Brazil become a good hoster ,they will ,almost sure ,host the WC .

Yeah they will win it for sure. But I think it would be a really cool world cup, the stadiums are huge, great atmosphere and I love the fact that the world cup that year will be in south america :eusa_dance:

I would say that a MAJOR part in the scheme of things. No doubt about it. From a truly football term though, I would think it would benefit the entire region.

After apeals of the clubs from game-fixing scandal in Italy, italian federation decided not to relegate Lazio and Fiorentina. Both clubs stay in Serie A, but they got minus points: 11 (Lazio) and 19 (Fiorentina).

Milan and Juventus got lower punishment: AC Milan will start new season with minus 8 points (instead of minus 15). Juventus is the only club that will be relegate, but they start a season in Serie B with minus 17 points instead of minus 30. Besides Juventus lost their titles from 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons. Lawyers of Juventus said that they will apeal one more time to the higher instance.

AMSTERDAM — Guus Hiddink, one of the most successful international soccer coaches the Netherlands has ever produced, is being prosecuted for tax fraud.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) in the Dutch city of Den Bosch confirmed the initial procedural hearing is scheduled for 15 September. The case will be fought out at a later date.

Hiddink is accused of making a false statement about his official place of residence in his tax filings for 2002 and 2003. This relates to when he returned to Europe after he led South Korea in the 2002 World Cup. The coach claimed he was resident in Belgium and paid tax there.

Many Dutch celebrities choose to live across the border in Belgium to avail of that country's more favourable tax regime.

The Dutch authorities do not accept his official place of residence was Belgium. His tax adviser Simon van den Boomen is also being prosecuted.

FIOD, the investigative arm of the Dutch tax office, raided Van den Boomen's office in the southern Dutch town of Waalre last October and seized Hiddink's files. Simon van den Boomen was arrested. Fons Spooren, a former director of PSV Eindhoven, is also a suspect.

Hiddink is furious with the authorities and has denied any wrongdoing. "My conscience is clear. It was not for nothing I left this matter with an accountant," he said. His lawyer Jan Leliveld has accused the prosecution service of rushing to court without giving Hiddink time to prepare a defence.

Born in 1946, Hiddink coached PSV Eindhoven from 2002 to 2006. He has made his name internationally as a coach of various World Cup teams. He led the Netherlands to fourth place in the World Cup in 1998 and got South Korea to the same position four years later.

Hiddink led Australia to this year's World Cup in Germany - Australia's first appearance in the tournament in 32 years. He signed on to coach Russia after the World Cup." :X :X :X

They do the same here. I suppose even if loads of others are getting away with it they have to go for the famous guy as a deterant to others (plus the fact they probably thinks he's taking the p a bit by being famous and openly getting away with it)

Just like to say here Congratulations to the Scotland U19 team on reaching the Final of the European Championship. Terrific performance especially knocking out the reigning holders, France, in qualifying and then finishing above Turkey and Portugal to reach the semi final, where they beat the Czech Republic.

Final tomorrow in Poznan against Spain who beat us 4-0 last week in the group stage and then humped Austria 5-0 in semi final. Class team and we will struggle to beat them but hey, getting to the Final is great considering the slump Scottush football has been through over the years.

Unofficial polish website of Arsenal London got a few days ago message from Football DataCo Ltd, organisation which was found to watch the copyrights. The message says that they (polish fanclub of Gunners) can have the problems, because they have on their website many things which are guard by copyright rules.

Football DataCo Ltd said that from now websites can't show the timetable of FA Premier League, photos, team squads, players' numbers etc. "Live" relations from the game (including forum, chat and so on) are also forbid, because they break the international copyright law.

They add that if the websites want to show the timetables, they have to pay for the agreement (258 pounds for timetable of one team or almost 6200 pounds for the whole FA Premier League calendaar - per year).

Football DataCo Ltd shut down a few unofficial websites (Watford, Arsenal, Leeds etc.) because they used materials from FA Premier League, which was guard by copyright law. For today they closed over 250 websites. The only thing which entitles website to use their materials is some kind of "half-official" status, but it also costs some money (and - as you know - majority of websites are made by teenage fans, which aren't rich enough to pay for all of permissions).

And now I have a few questions - is it possible that some kind of rules can be enforce to Ajax websites? Have you heard about such accidents like this one? Is that rule for all the websites, or just for these that have money for that?

FC Utrecht forbid the supportersites to use the official logo.

Well, I won't be the one who wants to make a website about FC Utrecht :pukey: , but I use their logo when Ajax play them, as does Ajax USA. And there is no way I will stop...

And about Football DataCo Ltd : is it still allowed to write/pronounce their name or we have to pay for that too ? :rocketwhore:
