(I hope the irony can be seen, even though it's hard to show on the net)

BTW- Wesley Sonck scored his first (?) goal in Bundesliga several days ago. He scored against Bayern, but next game he spent on a bench...

The guy is f**king brilliant. Plain simple.

He had 17 Eredivisie goals for Heerenveen in the first half of the season when he joined Ajax. Now he's at 27. 10 league goals in 9 matches. In both the Gatorade Cup and the Champions League he scored in his first (and only) game. 12 goals in 11 games in total.

Amazing figures. Absolutely stunning.

Keep it up, KJ.

Damn right, Ko. The kid can score in so many different ways. After a slow start of 3 games without a goal, he's been on fire lately.

To think that there are still people who are doubting whether he's the right man for Ajax.

At the rate The Hunter is going, maybe he can send his doubters a signed picture of him receiving the Golden Boot award.

Winning the Golden Boot will be tough as Luca Toni just won't stop scoring in Italy. Huntelaar is currently in third position behind Toni and Neemelo and in front of strikers like Eto'o, Van Nistelrooij, Trezeguet, Klose, etc. Huntelaar will probably pass Neemelo in the coming weeks as the Estonian league is already over. Therefore, Huntelaar's biggest problem will be keeping the big names behind him.

He's great. The best number 9 we've had in years. By miles. It looks like he has most of the qualities that are needed to be a succesful central attacker. Adding to Huntelaar's seamingly strong character and personality, and assuming he stays fit..., congratulations! It looks like we did. We finally have someone up front again who can score goals. Not only in the shirts of whatever club they used to play for but actually in our own red-white. Whatever aspirations a team may have they need someone to deliver the bacon. Ajax has been missing that. Even with Zlatan. Ten goals in his first nine starts is just what we needed. His entree in goals is probably the best one since Shota's nine or so Ajax-matches, almost ten years ago. I hope he can keep the one-goal-average up to the end of the season. A lot depends on it. :eusa_pray:

Enthusiasm is a great thing in sport, and this guy has it in spades. He seems to lift the team which is nice.

Thought this guy would be a terrible signing (only through watching highlights, I noticed he didn't take easy goal-scoring opportunities when playing for Herenveen). Bittersweet. Great news for Ajax, but confirmation that I know sweet f*ck all about football.

I'm sure you're all aware of the fact that the Golden is not just a plain comparison of the number of goals. What Trezeguet and Toni achieve in Italy is in my opinion much harder, and Huntelaar wouldn't score 15 goals in France with these tough defences. No doubt he's pure gold though. I
saw him at work yesterday and he's got game.....

The bonus about having someone who scores like this is that the whole team lifts a gear. They know if they can get a half decent ball to him, he will put it away.

This is just what the team needed to get the worst season I can remember back on track. Once the forwards have confidence, the midfield lifts, this will hopefully get back to our defenders and before you know it, the entire team is playing with confidence.

How many against Mr Gussie's side though??? 2 for KJH is my pick :)

That's why you get more points for scoring goals in Italy and the other top leagues than in you get for scoring in the Dutch league.

I was also one in the doubters camp, my main worry being more about the amount spent than on Huntelaars ability. Have to say now that it could well be money very well spent. Huntelaar is looking superb not only putting the ball into the back of the net but also his support play is great.

Rubin, I agree that he is lifting tje whole team. Both Rosenberg and Rosales look far better now that they have somebody up front who they know will be there when crosses are played in.

Wish he could have been around at the beginning of the season when Ajax were outplaying opponents and forgetting to score. I think a lot of the problems we've had have been a result of not being able to win games early in the season and losing confidence.

Oh yea. How long will it be before some "big" club tries to sign him? How long has he signed with us, anyway?

There's an interesting question.
And i can tell you a story: after the fist leg against Inter at the Arena, the italian journalist that saw the game for Sky Sport was so stunned about KJH performance that brought him in the post-match studio. And there Paolo Rossi (forward of Italy '82 world cup) and Luca Vialli told him in a manner that i hated so much: "Ok, Klaas, you have all the skills to become a great international player. Stay at Ajax one or two more years, bring it calm and see you in Italy soon". KJH was absolutely embarassed and answered: "Oh, thanx, but I have my contract here at Ajax and want to do well here".
Rossi & Vialli: f***k you!

Lets sign him for like 6 years, so that we get a lot of use out of him and then sell him for $100 trillion with a year or two left on his contract.

$100 trillion is a fair price :D
But as long as Ajax doesn't make a "Zlatan", the price should be OK... ;)

RE: Golden boot,I know there are different coefficients for the different leagues.I just wanted to stir the pot.Bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble. I just downloaded PJ's Worldwide Suicide and am feeling frisky.

My take, keep KJH until 2009 and sell him for a top price.

Thats right three years, 150 goals and some 25 million in cash for us. Sweet :D

I would hope that we could get more than 25 million for him if he puts up numbers like that.

But this is all premature. Lets hope that he stays healthy, continues to score and make those around him better, and that Blind/Van Geel build a good team around him so that we can get back to our rightful place at the top of Europe!!!! :headbang: :headbang:
