Probably not, now that we've thrown CL football away.

A new name that I heard through the grapevine...
Edgar Barreto of NEC. Midfielder. Paraguayan. 21. Probably the best young 'Galásek' in the Eredivisie.

Perhaps Kallstrom will come. After all, some players would like the challenge of trying to help a presently wretched excuse for a football club return to the top.

Per schreef:I just read an interview with him in which he says nothing about a move being even upcoming or discussed. He just stated that he's in a good form and that he likes it at Rennes at the moment.
I do not hink he will come to Ajax.
i never believed that rumour - i've said many times: if rafi leaves, we need gokdeniz karadeniz of trabzonspor
however, i've also said rafi needs to sign a one year extension, win another title and then he can be sold next summer to a team he actually wants to go to for a good price
i am also all for bring davids back, perhaps he can scare the football back into some of these kids

A few players who we should be looking at for next season are-
Thomas Graveson who will be out of Real Madrid in the summer.
Andy Johnson who will leave Palace when they are relegated.
Lee Carsley who could be picked up from Everton for reaonable money.
Pierluigi Collinna who knows a thing or two about the game.
We really need someone to get stuck in in the midfield, like a young Jan Van Halst who was really scarey. The picture of him with his bandaged bloodied head really shows his spirit and commitment.
The other good thing about all of the above is they are "uncle Fester "types which is what we could really do with.

The only player off the three who might come is Gravesen and thats because he´s danish, Lee Carsley give me a break, Andy Johnson will go to a top team in the premiership( i would say newcastle) and i still believe Kallstrom will come, trust me we got a knack for the swedes and besides ajax is a much beter team than Rennes. I still have faith the Kim will be an ajacied next season.

In an interview before today's game between Malmö FF and IFK Göteborg Marcus Rosenberg explained why he turned down a contract worth around 60 million swedish crones (about 6 million euros) in Moscow. He said he wanted more experience before leaving Sweden, but if he was to leave this summer, he said, his dream would be to go in Zlatan's footsteps; to Ajax that is.
Something to think about maybe.
By the way, MFF lost the game and Rosenberg did not impress in todays first round in the Swedish league.

Poor games or no,I still would like to see a player like Rosenberg at Ajax.If he has the desire to follow in Zlatan's steps, and will take to the teaching as Zlatan did, we could have a winaar on our hands.
Edgar Manucharyan

Kowalczyk schreef:From VI.nl: Edgar Manucharyan is currently getting the second chance that Ajax promised him. The Armenian striker currently trains with the first team of the Amsterdam club. Manucharyan was on a try-out at Ajax in early December. The Amsterdam club wanted to test the Armenian talent. The bog testcase was a friendly against FC Barcelona. Manucharyan started, but had to be replaced after only 14 minutes due to a foot injury. He turned out to have broken a metatarsal. Manucharyan (18), who plays for Armenia's champions Pyunik Erevan, has now recovered from that injury and could take Ajax up on their promise to give him a new chance to prove himself.
Reports are popping up everywhere that Manucharyan has made a very good impression and that Ajax are about to sign him... We'll wait for confirmation. As soon as it's confirmed a news report will appear on Ajax USA, of course.

I just hope he's not the only Edgar in an Ajax strip when training camp convenes in July. As for strike options, unless he's the next Shevchenko, I just don't see him as the player needed to give us the 1-2 punch (with Ryan Babel).

Ah, Ajax is lucky to have spotted Edgar!
He will fit straight into the style of play Ajax posses.
He is already a legend in Armenia and has his best to come! :eusa_dance:
Blind3 - He is the player who will give Babel a run for his money, him and Babel will truly be a deadly partnership.
He truly is a natural born finisher who has a great future at Ajax if played regularly. :xyxthumbs:

I'll be only too happy to sing his praises if he can form, with Babel, a lethal striking partnership.Anything reminiscent of the Zlatan-Mido two headed monster during the Ajax dubbel season in '01-'02 would be great.

I heard that Ajax will being taking a page out of the Vatican's book. Specifically, white smoke will billow over the ArenA for a new player and black smoke for failed negotiation(or another De Boer burger DFU'ed...acronym speak for Done F****d Up... by SoccerWorld's crack team of chefs).

We can forget about Kallström (as expected) : he signed an improved and longer contract with Rennes this morning.

I would rather see players added who bring a certain toughness and unselfishness than see a marquee name just for the sake of selling tickets. Success will sell more tickets than a name on a jersey.
