New Players for Ajax

Youth and loan and free transfers are this season going to get us at least 3rd. PSV champs, AZ Feyenoord(now on a slippery downward slope) and us for 2nd ,3rd and 4th.

The new Champions League format is not kind to PSV and Feyenoord. While PSV may dominate the league this season they have some tough matches in their group and Juventus locked down their MF and easily won the first match. They still have to play PSG and Liverpool, meaning all the other five games are must win in essence just to reach the playoff round. Feyenoord were dissected by Leverkusen yesterday and that have too many holes in their team. they still have Bayern, ManCity, and Benfica and even their "easy " games are against tough opponents. I see them going out barring some kind of miracle. Quentin Timber is really the only quality MF on their team.

The ten Hag teams are looking like they may be the last Dutch team to really do something at that level.

Bologna has soured on former AZ winger Jesper Karlsson and it's rumored that they have contacted Ajax about taking over his contract. He's a decent left winger and scored goals for AZ. He's also only 26 years old. We'll see if something happens, though I think Ajax would probably want to move Akpom if this was to happen.

Raul Moro of Real Valladolid is our top choice for left wing . A loan with an option. Have to wait and see .

Ajax want to loan Moro with an option to buy but Valladolid want a mandatory 6m so looks like we will say no.Apart from Akpom I dont think we will sell anyone this month for money .

Celtic have offered 10m euros for Moro so no surprise he wont be coming.Now 16th Jan, market open 2 weeks and no other signs of any other winger. Akpom still back up a joke.

Though not optimal, Faberski has played a bit on the left side at Jong Ajax. Bonida has spent some time there as well though he mostly played at the U-19 before being called up to JA. Banel is just too wasteful to warrant consideration. I feel bad for Kroes and Farioli as this bad hand was dealt to them by Mislintat.

Names being thrown around as replacements for Rensch and for a winger. Not sure which ones are
a. made up,
b. which ones are accurate or
c. which ones will actually materialize.

Moro has broken his collarbone so he wont be coming . Doesn't seem there are any other names listed so Forbs to return is still my prediction. Meanwhile we are looking at all sorts of non descript RB's to replace Rensch.

Some fans want Veltman back, He is coming up 33 and contract expires but still plays regularly for Brighton and my mates who are fans say he is still good for another season .

From what I read in our sport sites, Panathinaikos has rejected an Ajax offer of 5m + % of resale for Vagiannidis. They don't want to sell a first team player in January

I read the Greek lad is not very good and no better than Gaaei.Had Ajax agreed an extra 1m pa to Rencsh he would now be staying the season and we would be getting 10m plus in the summer. So far I have little faith in Kroes.

The price for the Greek RB is 8m . If Kroes spends that then he is no better than Mislintat.

Apparently we're bringing Regeer back as a stop gap replacement for Rensch. He's available to us for 4M because of a clause we had.

We were going to bring him back in the summer as DM, but decided to bring him back 6 months early to split RB responsibilities with Gaaei. I don't think he's a great RB, but I thought he did well as DM when he played against us.

Sounds like Regeer is almost a done deal. Farioli was asked a bunch of questions and confirmed that he's only going to use him as a mid fielder.

Crazy goings on .Kroes landed us with 3 strikers and only 1 LW, now signs another moderate MF and will ask him to play RB . So come the summer we will have to buy yet another RB.

Farioli says he considers Reeger a Mf .

Meanwhile we still need a left winger and no mention of anyone now that Moro is injured.Even talk we may still sign him even though it will be March before he is fit.

Any TD would have a difficult job clearing up Mislintat's mess but so far I am not impressed with Kroes.Will see how things are come 4th Feb.

Plus I don’t think Gaaei is great defensively. I actually rate him as an attacking option in MF or maybe as a wing back but not as a RB in a 4-3-3.

So if Rensch goes we can add RB to the list of problem positions.

Well, other than Akpom, none of the players have much sale value at all. Some like van den Boomen don't want to leave because they would have to take a salary cut. Since Ajax really don't have much money to spend, it is difficult to see how they can buy anyone.

VDB is never going to agree to leave and has a contract until Summer 2027. IIRC he's on a 2.5M+ contract. There's just a lot of dross which we're not going to be able to move.

Wijndal is here until Summer 27, Mannsverk and Gaaei until Summer 28.

The only way out of this mess is to somehow keep this house of cards standing until some of the kids in the Jong break through.

Of the 12 Mislintat signings only Mikautadze has been sold.Of the 4 loans Forbs wont make 10 starts for Wolves and will return , Medic will return as Bochum will go down and Sosa may ,if lucky sign for Torino for 4 or 5m . Avila will never return and we will get 2 or 3m max.

If Reeger comes and he is really a MF what prospects of Mannsverk getting playing time and Tahirovic and v d Boomen wont get a minute.

I think Amol is right, we just have to grit our teeth and wait for some better young players to come through. We’ve seen what happens when Ajax goes shopping in the price range they can afford. It almost never goes well.

Agree the kids have always been our future and will again . Nothing about Reeger today so maybe he wont come, and the 6m for Rensch will be spent on a winger which is badly needed. Just get a backup RB on loan and thats it.

Regeer deal done. Confirmed by Ajax an hour ago. I actually don't want us to spend 5M on some unknown RB. That has never ever worked for us.

I honestly cannot remember a successful RB purchase at Ajax in the past 25-30 years. Trabelsi is the only one who comes to mind.

Reeger for 4.3m to 2029. Can play as a RB cover but now MF no 10 and only Taylor and Henderson are good enough to start and play 90 mins .

Reading the other day about RB's signed in the last 25 years and Trabelsi was the name that came up as the only good signing.

So we need a new RB, LW and striker as Brobbey is going.And Kroes has 11 days to get them.

Might be worth a punt on Mathias Kvistgaarden from Brondby..gradual development is good, and his goal tally is improving... although not sure on ability to hold and distribute in penalty area as good as Brobbey..but goal strike much better!
Can do no harm in either watching .or just ask ex-players..Eriksen etc al!! After all, if Celtic were/looking and comparing to Kyogo, there must be something!!

Ajax want Forbs back . Reading Showtime everyone wants to shoot Kroes. 2 weeks ago when Moro was injured I thought Forbs to return is the only thing we can do . He wont make 10 starts for Wolves, 1 so far, and will return this summer and if lucky we may loan him out .Return here as back up and if he gets some playing time and does ok we may even get some idiot club paying 10m . Wolves paid 2.5m in loan rental so we will have to repay 1m or 1.5m.

So, no this is not ideal but he is ok as LW back up. Worst of course Traore on RW blows hot and cold and not even a pure winger.As back up Berghuis who is not good enough even as a sub or Rasmussen who is KKD class.

Beat Feyenoord on Sunday and even this selection should finish ahead of Utrecht and be 2nd.

Still need a RB though.
