Said this right ! :xyxthumbs:

Danny Blind will always be in our hearts.

I did not like at all the way the club made public their reasons. This kind of indictment is a serious lack of respect for Blind.

Philippe, You are probably correct about how this has been dealt with but I find that I cannot find anything wrong with the reasons they are stating viz:-

· Ajax's first team has not realised the most important goal: playing for the championship.

· Ajax's first team has in the past season not played the desired football, namely attractive, offensive and dominant football.

· The progress of both the collective and the individual players - with a few exceptions - has been insufficient.

It must be a very sad day for Danny Blind, and I feel very sorry for him. Lets hope the new person will do the job in such a way that the above ideals will be met.

Reason 1 : yes of course
Reason 2 : probably
Reason 3 : no way, if you compare the beginning of the season to its end, progress can not be denied

Did they deny there was progress?

There's no point denying that progress was insufficient. Too little, too late.

enough to beat all our Dutch rivals, enough to save the club's reputation, is enough for me

Looking back at the season I would say that we were definetly better at the start of the season than during the rest of the season - the only reason we put together a decent string of results at the end was down to the signing of KJH and the emergance of Vermaelen.
As to the rest of the players - did they improve? In the main the answer is a resounding NO.

Translating your comment I take it that you mean that you cannot agree with me.
I would suggest that you re-read the match reports and see if you still come to the same conclusion. However, I won't be holding my breath awaiting you change of mind.
BTW very interesting that you appear to now be posting in the style that you were having a go at just the other day - is it a case of if you cannot beat them, then join them?

First of all can I just express my sympathy to Danny Blind and the others who lost their jobs this morning. Never good to see especially for someone who has given so much of their working life to Ajax.
But at the end of the day no one is bigger than the club.

I personally felt that Danny Blind had not the experience at the time of his appointment to be the head coach for Ajax and so it ultimately seems. I think that you will become a good coach in due course and probably starting at another smaller club will help you acheive this. I also feel that you were let down by a number of the more experience players in the squad, especially a lot of players who were nearing the end of their contracts and during the middle of the season, seemed to be more interested in themselves than playing for Ajax.

Good luck for the future :xyxthumbs:

It seems that they think is "the right man but not in the right place", and they say they will offer him another job (same with Krol). What kind of job ? Chairman of the board ?

Where did you read this - I have a very strange feeling that this offer was made months back so they could proceed with interviewing Ten Cate without breaking the EU Empoyment regulations.

Ajax sprak met Blind over andere rol
AMSTERDAM - Ajax heeft met de woensdag ontslagen Danny Blind en diens assistent Ruud Krol de mogelijkheid besproken in een andere functie voor de club actief te blijven. the question was "when" and the answer above is 10 mei 12:03 meaning 10 may 12:03, in case some do not understand

BTW what does "tricky bastard" mean in English ?

Not very nice people and they cannot really be trusted. A bit like a F-Word fan really. :D

My understanding of this article was that they had been dismissed from their current positons today but nowhere does it state that the offer of alternative employment within Ajax was made at that same time.

BTW tricky people means the same as tricky bastards but only one is more insulting.

Best of luck, Danny. You might not have been the right coach at the right time, but you're still an Ajax man through and through. Nothing will change that.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You'll always be loved in the heart of this Ajax fan.

Probably the wrong man at the wrong time. We did have a bad season and our playing style was poor but having half the squad wanting out was not good.

As we all agree only good thing was signing KJH.

I note in my paper today that Escude was given 8 out of 10 and rated agood defender who is attracting better clubs. I dont want to bring this up again but dropping him and then seeing our defence being poor most of the season and indeed after Christmas having to play Reserves is bad management just one of his mistakes.

We do need a more experienced coach but of course next season with Perez, Stam and Davids around KJH all season and no players at the end of contracts and KOEMAN at psv even Blind would have likely had a good season.

I totally agree with this. Alienating one of the team's best defenders, not playing him, making him an outcast, and then selling him mid-season was one of the biggest disappointments this year.

I was on away on a business trip for two days, so I heard about the whole Blind thing while abroad. I couldn't find the time (and/or the right internet café...) to write a news report in the fine town of Nottingham, England.

Now I'm back home (although I will go on another three-day business trip tomorrow morning) and have just written and published a lengthy report. Check it out. It's got quite a lot of quotes and background in it that hasn't been published in any other English-language report yet...
