What I don't understand about it all is that we have a good coach, we have individually great players, we have exceptional training facilities etc etc but still we fall short of matching the teams such as W II who have far less going for them.

Can anybody please enlighten me.

Ok I can take on board that insight Mr Saddler but could you then enlighten me please, as to why on earth with all this investment in time over the last 5 years we haven't moved any closer to becoming a team.

PS: What did our glorious leader St Marco have to say about this defeat?

Well.. don't expect too much of him. Our so-called intelligent manager is currently very busy making stupid quotes.

After the defeat against Real Murcia he was surprised that Ajax were so bad.

And only a week ago he stated that Ajax isn't even near the level that they should be...

One-and-a-half month of preperation, and Van Basten sends this team onto the pitch...

It scares me really....

At times like these i just thank the lord we have F-word playing in the eredivisie...watching them loose against a team like Heracles makes me feel a bit better....it does look like a trend though...milan lost to bologna and Barca lost to Numancia so we are not alone in the wagon...i guess a lot of people can share our feeling right now....roll on the next match im two weeks.

And Madrid is down at half 0-1 to Deportivo! We need to recognize that all the leagues are a lot more even than they were several years ago.

And did he by chance say anything about how he and his team were going to move them from the shambles (my words) to the level that they should be, plus did he let on to what that level was.?
What I would like to know is did he mean that scoring an away goal in Tilburg would be that level or did he believe that Ajax playing with a swagger, playing down both wings and thrashing the living daylights out of WII is the level he is looking for. Not much of a difference I grant you but none the less would be nice if somebody, somewhere, has teased that one out of him.

I seem to remember an oft made remark from Ko (well my interpretation of what Ko has said) - if Ajax is in trouble then you can always count on WII showing up and hey presto the problem would be solved. Well it certainly didn't work out this time but then again I suppose the exception proves the rule. Maybe the only problem was that WII hadn't read the script

I know this is a 34 game season and this was only the first game, but I just seem to remember the endings of the last two seasons when games like this have cost us the title.

From the comfort of being this side of the North Sea, it looks like its going to be another hard and long winter the other side of the North Sea down at the ArenA and the other 17 Eredivisie grounds that we will be visiting.

Let's not start panicking too early! Just remember that our new "Leader" has beeen used to taking eleven players and moulding a team....it's a little unfortunate that some of the players in his last team have been sold by Ajax. He's now being well paid to develop the talent we have, along with massive funds to bring in the players he 'thinks' will contribute as part of this team. Let's hope that MVB can stand the pressure....it's going to be harder at Ajax than with Orange....as OPH says, "looks like its going to be another hard and long winter" .... and a bloody expensive one for us Brits!!!

It's disappointing, but let's give the team some time, like until the winterstop. It's too much to expect a new coach and new team to gel right away. Doesn't mean they'll be great, but doesn't mean they're going to suck either. Sometimes a loss can really put your weaknesses into perspective in ways that victories cannot.
