Fantastic... Chari has sustained a concussion against Arsenal and will be out 'for some time' (source: Ajax.nl).
On a positive note: Hedwiges Maduro and Wesley Sneijder are almost ready to rock & roll again. Trabelsi and Rosales still injured.

Suddenly the following news report has popped up on AT5 Text:
Angelos Charisteas unwell in bar
Angelos Charisteas became unwell in a bar near Amsterdam's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The Ajax striker suddenly fainted around 2.45 PM and was brought to hospital by ambulance.
Ajax doctor Edwin Goedhart announced, via an official Ajax spokesman, that Charisteas underwent several tests at the hospital, but that it appears that the incident has nothing to do with the concussion the Greek sustained against Arsenal on 27 September.
Strange news. By the way: that bar must be VakZuid, where we always go for a drink on our infamous Ajax USA 'History Tour'. I know that a few Ajax players live in the brand new appartments right next to the Olympic Stadium and that they visit VakZuid quite frequently.

Back in training today, as if nothing happened.
False alarm, it seems. Maybe he's just a wimpy who can't drink beer. ;)

The latest and very alarming rumour here in Holland is that it might be end-of-career for Charisteas... He's been injured for about two months now and according to football journalist and TV personality Jack van Gelder Ajax it is much more serious than it initially seemed...
I don't know what to think, but it's very worrying news...

He may be out for a season at most or so, but I dont think his career will end

Concussions are a very delicate matter, mainly because of the "Post Concussion Syndrome". This has ended a lot of sports careers especially in Hockey and American Football, lets not forget that one of Harry's strong points is his heading ability, if the injury is very serious he might not be able to do so, thus rendering him useless in the world of football.
Sad......Very sad, hope its just a minor injury or like zoef says only a season ending injury, not career ending :nooo: .

According to AT5 Text Charisteas will return to action with Young Ajax tonight (against Young Willem II). obviously, the Sparta Prague game will come too early for him. It is as yet unknown when he will be ready for a return to the first team.

Well I hope he is back even as a sub on the match against RKC. I will be in Amsterdam for that match and would like to see at least one Greek player on pitch

He said on Talpa TV that he's now 100% fit and ready to play. He'll be available on Sunday and there's a good chance you'll see him in action against RKC. Important game, btw. They're higher on the table than us...

Charisteas mag weg bij Ajax
Ajax heeft Angelos Charisteas laten weten dat hij eventueel mag uitzien naar een andere werkgever
Charisteas could leave Ajax. Ajax and Charisteas informed that he could leave for another employer.
my advice : keep Angelos and sell Markus Rosenberg

Going to change the record - it is becoming a bit repetitive to say the least. We all know you dont rate Rosenberg - but as was asked on the other forum and you did not reply, Why would you keep Charisteas and sell Rosenburg.
Having watched both players since they arrived at Ajax I personally would keep Rosenberg. The reason is that in my opinion for what it is worth, Rosenberg is a better footballer than Charisteas - by that I mean he has a better first touch, is more skillfull and bring more to Ajax on the whole. This is not to demean Chari who has been playing well of late.
Instead of giving one liners could you explain in a bit more detail why you would keep Chari and sell Rosenberg, then maybe we could understand where you are coming from.

Of course we should keep Rosenberg and sell Harry (if we have to choose).

Rosenberg spends most of his time on the pitch losing the ball, missing the target, and hitting his defender. He has no significant experience of top games.
Charisteas is hard working guy, playing for the team, and he has played for Greece and in Bundesliga. More experience and more potential.
You may feel free not to share my opinion without me demanding explanations. ;)

Also, when Ajax dominates, Rosenberg is by far the worst player. He is a player that you have to send deep and let him finish the counter. Charisteas proved against Feyenoord and Sparta Praag that he has learned during the summer break and now know's how to play in 4-3-3.

we should keep charisteas because he has seven goals in nine starts. i can't believe he may be going. he's just starting to come good. keep rosenberg as well and sell anastasiou.
and i know it's a charisteas thread, but it's criminal that escude is going. disgraceful. sell heitinga instead.
