If Anderlecht scored a real awesome goal then ya ok but common that was a joke. Why didn't Stekelenburg have his cover?? Who was it, Vertonghen? Ahhh!!!

Well, anyways good play and attempt. 1-1 is okay I guess

After several games without letting in any goals ,except that stupid peno last week, we let in a soft goal again .Thought they were a thing of the past .

They're not robots, you know... They're humans...

I thought it was a bit of an unfortunate one. Suárez lost the ball (it really wasn't his day, was it?) and it kind of caramboled back into the box.

That can happen. Our defence had another very good game otherwise. Conceding one goal against Anderlecht, away, is not a disgrace.

Overall I thought we played quiet well, should have punished them with at least one goal at the beginning of the game, and got more out of our dominance at the start of the second half.

Ironically the red card really worked against us as it motivated Anderlecht far more than us.

Dutch teams in Europe really struggle against massed attacks in the final minutes against teams that have nothing to lose. AZ several times inrecent years, Twente this year, Ajajx last year against Marseilles and last night again. Is is lack of concentration, lack of discipline, naivety???

BTW I was at the game and saw a generally positive atmosphere between the fans (only a couple of minor scuffles). The Ajax fans applauded the Anderlecht players at the end ...very sporting I thought.

Ko I agree the defence was good and has been superb in recent games. I was just frustrated ,like all of us, that having stopped giving away soft goals they did last night. You are right they are human .

Moreover, they're also very young. That adds to it. And of course, all of our defensive players in last night's game are Ajax products.

But the funny thing on google the after all kind of links to dictionaries etc where it says no word exists you find it has been used before - in an Ajax USA match report from February 2006 against Den Haag. And guess who the author of that article was :smallgrin.gif:

Actually the word does exist in one sense; see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carom_billiards In all my years of playing three cushion billiards, I never heard anyone refer to it as carambole. It's a pity that this form of billiards is dying out (I think there are only one or two parlors in the greater Washington area that even have a straight rail table) as it teaches geometry and the need to understand spacial relationships. Are there any tables in Amsterdam these days?

I wasn't even aware that there were any in the DC area! I'd heard that the only tables on the East Coast were in NYC.

What a difficult game.

What a difficult game.
The last time I played which was about five years ago, there was one in Arlington but that may be gone now. There was also a table at one in Silver Spring. Unfortunately, I have hung up my cue stick because of the difficulty in finding a table somewhere. Don't have room at my house for a table.
