Interesting discussion, but it's getting a bit long, so here's a quick roundup for those that just tuned in:
If Ajax-PSV turns out to be a fantastic match, with great football from both sides, 2-2 after 90 minutes and 4-4 after extra time, and PSV wins the penalty shootout lottery, philippe will
not give full support to Blind because we didn't win the cup.
On the other hand, if Ajax plays one of their usual embarassing excuses for a football game against PSV that (despite not taking the match seriously, fielding their reserve team, and playing in slow motion) hits the woodwork a few times, sees three bona fide goals disallowed because of offside, gets red-carded twice for fouls that only exist in the blind referees imagination, and it all ends with Blind c.s. stealing a 1-0 win through a penalty awarded after Huntelaar tripped over thin air, Ajax takes the cup home and philippe will give full support to Blind.

Yeh, Phillipe but Koeman had a good season as coach, he won the league, won the cup and reached the quater final of the champions league. For a while under Koeman there was hope, something which i've never felt under Blind. Even if we win the cup he should go, how important is the gatorade cup really? Does it define a succesfull season for Ajax? The point is Blind isnt good enough, and that's the last im going to say on the matter.

Koeman inherited a team on the up. Several young stars were breaking through and beginning to fulfill their potential. Blind on the other hand inherited Koeman's team. A team on the slide. Contracts were expiring. Players wanted out. The team was playing shit. And still he won 8 straight league games to secure second spot and champions league football for this season.

Henk ten Cate has signed his contract - it's official. Source: SBS6. Apparently Blind will get another position at Ajax.

To Danny Blind supporters (most notably Philippe),
Look, no one is bigger then the club, especially Ajax Amsterdam FC, great players who coached Ajax had a chance, the likes of Johan Cruijff, was successful, Jan Wouters flopped after a season and a half, Koeman was doing well at one point, but IMO was unlucky with the Zlatan sagar, and players had form crisis e.g Pienaar, Stekelenburg and Heitinga. When things went bad for him, he had to go, and Blind has had adequate time to convince the board/fans that he is the man, sadly he isnt, but all was not lost as we saw today and the playoffs. I like Blind, as a player, just as I did Wouters, Koeman (although he couldnt defend) and ofcourse the great Maestro Johan Cruijff. The point here is no matter who you are even if Van Basten came back to Ajax and flopped it, aslong as he has adequate time, i.e for arguments sake if ten Cate flops it and is sacked in November and we get Van Basten, he will get his chance of another season, but thats it, if he does well great, but if we are a laughing stock of Holland and Europe then he will be booted out aswell. Thats the point Im making no one is bigger then Ajax, absolutly no one.

The club definitely comes first and is bigger than any one man...even Hendrik Johannes "God" Cruijff. There still must be room for decency. Does Danny Blind get to take his champagne with him?His cup winner's medal? Not even one night to enjoy the successful end to a cup run and the defeat of PSV ,something done with such regularity(THAT'S SARCASM), if SBS is right. Ten Cate would have been there to sign tomorrow.I wonder about Ajax's tact and decency at a time like this.

Blind3, I understand your frustration...I assume Danny B knew this before he went out for the final, he's a pro, the situation was clear...all's well, ...if not it's a disgrace...

I am so happy for the cup and the Cl spot, our end of the season was excellent and gave back confidence to the club and to some players.. but at the same I am very frustrated for the treatment reserved to danny blind.
ok, it was the worst ajax season in years, and maybe he is not ready to be a top coach, but hey...HE IS AN AJAX ICON, doesn't deserve a treatment like this. the press note before the feyenoord match, the name of ten cate in ears from weeks, and now the (semi)official news of the nu oach when they're still celebrating the victory..no, not honest. they should have expected some days, we are ajax and we are stylish.

Not questioning Danny Blind's fate. Even a Blindophile like me understands a 52.9% winning percentage from league matches this year and only a fair partial season the year before doesn't cut it. Just wish they'd have left it at no comment until the dust finally settled on the season..say May 9th.That would've given him one day to relax.
I hope he will take a job at Ajax.

The ajax.nl website has had a statement in which defines "incorrect" the reports of SBT6 'bout both the dismissal of the technical staff and the singing of henk ten cate.

Had to did a little work this morning on Dutch and European Employment law and found that what I was reading is very relevant to the whole has Danny been told / the board has went behind his back saga.
According to the EU Law you cannot find or even interview another candidate for a persons position of employment without the person currently in the postion being made aware of this or without him being in the knowledge that he will no longer be in that position of employment in the near future. IE If AFCA have followed EU Employment law then Danny Blind was aware that AFCA were going to replace him as coach. This would have had to be done officially ie AFCA would have to have handed Blind a signed document or have minuted in a meeting that at the end of the season or prior to that he would be removed from the postion of head coach and that they were actively seeking a replacement. This is the law.
So makes me wonder who is telling the truth - if AFCA have not been honest with Blind then he is in a postion to sue them for millions in compensation or has Blind known what his future was months ago and as results went in his favour because of the Play Off game and the Cup Final and the leaked newspaper story played the sympathy story.
Ever since this whole story has been leaked a few weeks back there has been something not quite right about the perceived trail of events.
If Ajax have signed Ten Cate as press are stating they would also have had to be in negotiations with Barcelona FC to have him removed from his current contract if his contract is to a date after May 18th which is when he said he will officially announce his future plans. Football coaches and players are usually on fixed term contracts ie 2 years etc and to leave during that period withoput your current employer being aware is illegal - tapping up of players / coaches as media like to refer to it. These negotiations are not something that has happened in the last 2 weeks but probably initial contact with Barcelona FC to approach Ten Cate would have been officially made as far back as January / February. Nothing has been reported in the press that Barcelona FC are unhappy with the news leaks which suggests to me that they have been aware all along what has been going on.
As a qualified professional person myself

all I can say that since his arrival Van Geel appears to have acted in a very professional manner in his dealings with players contracts - getting rid of players prior to contract expires to recoup money, extending the exisiting contracts on various players to expire at different time lengths so that no more mass exodus in any given close season - and I would therefore be very surprised if he has not handled the whole Blind / Ten Cate situation with the same professionalism, especially knowing that it is a very emotive issue and the that if anything has been illegal then it would cost him his own job.
Now I know that I will be accused of this post being anti-Blind but I would like to say that it has been written from a professional point of view based on what I know about current legislation and trying to look an obviously emotional subject from a subjective point of view.

Ah had a guess you would reply - now if you are going to disagree with anything I have written please have the decency and courtesy to point out anything that I have written which is obviously untrue. As I said at the start of my post I was looking at various aspects of employment law as part of my job and that a lot of what I have read is very relevant to what is happening at Ajax just now. All I am pointing out facts and issues which in all the emotion others posters might now be aware of. If you diagree with what I have written fine but please dont insult my intelligence by posting one line non-descript answers as is your norm. Which part do you not agree with or thinking I am wrong about, as I would be very interested to hear where my understanding of employment law differs from you.

well, I have no opinion about this, but I think you meant that you were trying not to be subjective, that's all, or maybe it's a faux ami ?

LOL you could be right there

Being honest with you i think there is a whole lot to this story that will never come out in the wash and one of the major problems is especially with football being such a very emotional topic then nobody looks at impartially, which I was trying to do. It has been the subject of much debate in NL in newspapers etc and every article, tv report I have looked at has been emotionally based and not otherwise which is unfortunate.

Okay, Martin van Geel announced today that the club will reveal their decision about Danny Blind "this week, but I can't say on which day."
Come on folks, let's get it over with. We all know what's gonna happen.

On xtratime website a post is saying
"AT 5 reports that Danny has to report at the office at 9 to hear what he wanted to hear: duidelijkheid, or better said: Danny, you're sacked.
NAC and Vitesse are both mentioned as interested clubs."

It's official: He's gone!
Most important arguments:
No progression in football, not attractive etc.
No player improvements.
Didn't win the championship.
