Ajax.nl confirms that Lassina Traore has been signed until 2022. To be honest, I don't know a lot about the kid, besides the fact that he comes from Ajax CT, is Bertrand's nephew and impressed Ajax Amsterdam during his trial in spring 2018.

Appears a top talent but apart from Pienaar we have never got anyone from Cape Town who has been anywhere near good enough to make it.We have owned the club since 1999. Thetani and Solomons currently from CT and in our Jong look very moderate even at Jong Ajax level.

You forget a couple names, but ok...
Now next one to buy is Jan Vertonghen. And yes buy I still owe you an explanation why my opinion is Ajax should pay some millions for Vertonghen instead of waiting until he comes on a free transfer what was (or still is?) your wish.

Regards Vertonghen I would only want him this summer,he will then be 32 but Spurs have extended his contract to 2020 and would want some money.I dont see him being a regular for Spurs next season and indeed he has had some injuries this season. If he is to come back its this summer or never. I am not sure I want us to pay much money for him.

I forgot a couple of other names from CT who made it to our 1st team Enoh and Serero of course.

Traore now officially an Ajax player.He was only 18 on 12 January and went home to Cape Town from Florida to complete the formalities of a work permit .

We may buy another goalie this coming week but that seems it.

Biggest concern for me is that with as many as 7 of our core 13 to leave in the summer we not only need to replace those 7 but our current back up is not good enough.

Magallan is a replacement and we wait to see how he develops.

Of the rest Lamprou is not good enough,Kristensen may develop but after Mazraoui we have Dest coming through. Veltman whose best days with us are behind him.

Midfield Labyad is not good enough for Ajax ,Eiting has had injuries and gone backwards.Sinkgraven is not a LB and not good enough MF.

Cerny has had many injuries and cannot be written off completely and Bande who knows. 8m for a kid who has had one decent season in Belgium.For 1m we could have signed Groenwald NEC winger and Dutch.Went to Club Brugge and Milan will now pay 10m.

Not sure who from Jong Ajax is ready . Kotarski,Dest, Gravenberch plus Kuhn and maybe Traore could break through next season.Others at Jong either not good enough or question marks.

With the 300m we will get this summer Overmars will have a lot of players to buy.

Ajax loan Benfica Goalkeeper Varela until end of the season. (reportedly with option to buy).

Yes that didn't take long ,not sure how good he is is but assume he is taller than Lamprou

He was the starter for Benfica but was beaten out this season. 1.91M tall is what I read.

Varela has passed a medical and signed on loan to June 2019 with an option to buy. We are evidently interested in a 19 year old Croatian LB .

Doesn't make much sense to me either. I don't think he is a particularly quick decision maker with the ball. Which MF position would he play? Matusiwa comes back to Ajax after his loan spell ad de Grafschaap and he just made the team of the week. He has a good chance at starting next season.

I always liked Matusiwa. He is versatile. He can play at right back and midfield. Bye bye Eiting

Yeah if he wants to come back at a reduced salary and if he costs less than what we sold him for. Neres and Ziyech will probably leave in a year or so anyway.

Neres is likely to stay. Ziyech will definitely leave. Along with Onana de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong. I hope the rest stay. Except for Dolberg and Nissen.

There is a report that we are buying MF Razvan Marin, a Romanian NT player, from Standard Liege. I don't know much about him other than "...he is a replacement for de Jong." Purchase price is €12M He is 22 years old.

I'm just amazed at how life at Ajax has changed in the past 3 years. Ajax to sign Romanian player from Liege for 12 million and none of us even bat an eyelid at the amount.

Romanian teammates all expecting Marin to come here.

Meanwhile we seem on the verge of signing Emmen goalie Kjell Scherpen ,only 19 and their no 1,and loan him there for another season.

We also appear to be about to sign Heerenveen left sided CD Kiki Pierie also 19 and a regular.

Overmars has indicated we need to buy some young talented Dutch lads.
