As expected, FC Barcelona had an easy night at AD Ceuta (a third tier team). This was a special Helmond Cup night: Ceuta is Spanish territory, but it is on the African continent (the most northern bit of Morocco).

Meanwhile, Real Madrid embarrassed themselves at another third tier side: 0-0. Which is not even that bad, considering that Real Madrid were knocked out of the cup by a third tier side last season and the season before!

Anyway: Helmond Cup is still in Barcelona. Tough league game coming up.

Easy cup win for Barça: 5-1 in the second leg against AD Ceuta (third tier side).

One goal from Lionel Messi, who has now scored ten goals in six Helmond Cup matches. The only players who scored more Helmond Cup goals are Jack Tuyp (FC Volendam, 13 goals) and Diego Milito (Inter, 14 goals).

FC Barcelona absolutely destroyed Real Madrid this evening: 5-0. Puts things in perspective, don't it...?

The next two fixture Barça will play are for the so-called Copa Catalunya (Catalonia Cup): two fixtures on one evening, against Espanyol and Hospitalet on Wednesday evening. The Copa Catalunya is a semi-official competition (the fact that there are two Barça fixtures on one evening already suggests so) and does not count for the Helmond Cup (just like non-official games like the Amsterdam Tournament, etc.).

Which means that the next Spanish Liga match is the next Helmond Cup game.

Well we nearly had a Helmond Cup First. Barca nearly didn't make the Osasuna game as they "thought" it had been postponed for a day due to the Air Traffic Control strike in Spain - presumably an automatic 3-0 defeat if they hadn't turned up .

Bit of a tricky fixture coming up. Barca lost to the Russian team last year in CL giving up the Cup. I think they have clinched first place in their CL group and may be starting a junior team. If the Cup goes to Russia it will stay there for some time as I believe the Russian season is completed.
