That's right, mate. I was there at Hampden and I have never experienced anything like it. Bloody hell, did those Jocks go mental. And me too! Absolutely great experience.
As for Holland: okay - we dropped two points, but it was arguably the toughest game in this group and from what I've heard Holland played quite well and were a bit unlucky.
In other words: Van Basten was
not proven wrong - and it would be unfair to give him all kinds of stick because he 'lost' two points in Bulgaria (which doesn't mean that you have to agree with him, by the way;p I'm just saying that this game did
not prove that he made the wrong decision).

A very good day for Scotland - particularly Gary Caldwell
No hand signals from TrezeGIT yesterday ......... 1:0 yah big Argy poof :D
I watched the Netherlands' match after the Scotland game ....missed the first 10 mins - too busy gloating :headbang: . The Dutch were much the better side and would have won but for some poor officiating. RVP had a perfectly good goal chalked off for an imagined handball. Not long after that the Bulgarians should have been reduced to 10 men after one of their players swung an elbow into RVP's face.
A very good Dutch display. Marco can cancel the Taxi

San Marco will not add any players to the current Oranje-squad for the Albania game on Wednesday. Instead RVP is the likely candidate to start in the number 9 position.

Given the circumstances in wich the match was played, the draw was a good result, i mean the pitch was just dreadfull with puddles everywhere that made fast passing and skilled dribling almost impossible( without mentioning the freakin cold). The oranje had too scrape out a result and they did, they actually could have won, and i am sure with a pitch in better condition that would have been the case.

The RVP at #9 experiment was quite interesting too watch, it really looked like the "Total Football" days. The three wingers (Babel,Robben and RVP) would exchange position every minute, normally the #9 in the Oranje is kind of static wondering in the penalty area, it wasnt like that this time around  The three wingers would apear on all sides of the pitch ;)
PD: Van Basten even used a 4-2-4 in the final 25 minutes of the game.

Uhm, Scotland trashed Bulgaria 5-1 not too long ago.
Bulgaria are absolutely horrible. They have no team spirit whatsoever. One of the most over rated nations in Europe at the moment.

Depends on where you would stick Holland. If you still think they can play with the best, yes you've been over rating them for a while. But if you had your doubts and now think they're wonderful again after drawing with Bulgaria, then you're also way off.
It's just a pretty pathetic group with Holland, Bulgaria and Romania.

Bulgaria played Scotland less than 48 hours after having played Japan.
Scotland 0:1 Belarus -> Holland 3:0 Belarus -> Scotland 1:0 France
Holland must be set to whip France 5:0 in their next meeting :D

It's comforting to see that it's not just Ajax that can't produce a single decent cross in 90 minutes. The whole of Holland doesn't appear to ba able to produce a single crosser. The most pathetic were the corners, landing on the very opposite corner of the penalty box. The irony was that the goal finally came from a cross.........a
throw in...à la Bolton.

Holland had most of the ball but created nothing besides some half-chances from solo runs by Robben and a few good interchanges between VdV and Seedorf. VdV appeared to playing as the right winger, and he did quite well. Kuyt and later Huntelaar made little impression as the central forwards, though Huntelaar got the assist. The forward line was missing Robin van Persie, who has been one of the best in the team during and since the world cup.
Besides all that the defence as a unit was absolutely shit, especially in the centre. England got several great oppurtunities just by lobbing the ball up the field, and missed one goal chance presented on a plate by an erratic back-pass. Urby had an okay game at left back. Stekelenburg came on in the second half and played well, kept a clean sheet and made one top-drawer save in the final minutes to deny England the win.
All in all, Holland dominated possession, looked good with the ball till the final pass was required, and were at best shaky in defence. They really need Stam in the team.
And one final point, Vennegor's entry as the 'battering ram' at the end of the game was what got Holland the draw. It was his head on from the throw, then off KJH's head down to VdV for the goal. So he proved his worth again. Hard to believe, but true.

I watched the game and Frans sums it up. I think the assist was the only time in 30 mins that KJH touched the ball.
The back 4 were very poor , goalies Ok. Urby was ok although the english goal( Iwas just about to say their goal !!!) came from a cross from his side.
The best Dutch defender is still the big bald brut at Ajax.Stam is different class
from those I watched.

The formation looked more like a 4-4-2 than a 4-3-3, VDV rarely tried to reach the touchline for a cross like a winger should do. The plan failed, their was just no chemistry in the team. Just possesion and thats all. It was quite ironic too see the dutch score on a typically English play; the long throw in is used a lot in the premiership. The Oranje need Ruud back, plain and simple. The rest of the strikers are just not "on form" at the moment.

The game was utter shite from both teams (Michael Carrick? Cmon)
I agree that Holland need Ruud back, but they also need to find a right winger for a 4-3-3 to work (Even with Van persie on the right im not too amused)
Holland also need a real holding midfielder like Roy Keane, and Vieira, as Landzaat, Maduro and others aren't really good at it. Cocu was, but he retired from nat.
And the defense my god, Ooijer and Mathijsen should leave, I think the central should be Boulahrouz and Opdam.

What about this, by the way?
"I listened to Van Gaal's criticism, I listed to it again and I even listened to it three times, but now I feel it is time for me to react. For once, I would like to point out that Louis van Gaal was quite possibly the worst Holland boss of the past twenty years. At least we qualified for the World Cup, which is more than he can say. It's a bit rich for him to be this critical. A bit more self-reflection would be appropriate."
- Holland manager Marco van Basten in Sportweek magazine.
The full interview will be published tomorrow. I say: way to go, Marco! This is war - and I expect some good fun in the press in the upcoming weeks. If you stand in your back yard and hear an explosion in the distance, it might be Louis van Gaal.

WOW, way to throw a match on a trail of gas leading straight to a building used as a dynamite storage facility :)
I can't wait to read Van Gaal's patronizing reaction in the press...

I think the press doesn't have the topic for articles (we're just before the winter break) so they will do everything just to write something. I'm sure that both van Basten and van Gaal know that argues won't be wise... Something these things happen, but it doesn't change a fact that majority of them are made by press, not by coaches/ players/ board...
