The four top leagues will get four places each in the group round leaving only 16 spots for everyone else. The Europa League winner also gets a spot and presumably France will get 2-3 spots and maybe Portugal 1-2 spots. You can see how things are getting smaller and UEFA also will preserve a set number of places for the lesser leagues who now play through the league champions pool. The whole thing is corrupt and I would not be surprised to see the Dutch teams completely out of CL football for a lot of years to come (unless someone wins the EL).

Dolberg has said he is not going this season and is staying.Looks like Dortmund and Monaco can forget about him.

Wöber who came on late yesterday is a LB. Sure he is young but I think he was a starter for the Austrian team he came from. But you are correct that we don't have an experienced LB (unless you want to consider Sinkgraven).

Well a busy day for us clearing our dead wood from Jong Ajax.Roma made a bid for Ziyech of 35m but this was very late and turned down.

Looking at Jong squad Dankerlui and Sanniez are now 3rd years and we dont normally keep players in Jong for that long.Sanniez has had little action pre season and I thought he would go. I always thought he was an ok defender but he probably is not ready for Eredivisie and his wages too high for Jupiler sides.

It's nice to see that we can actually turn people down if we receive late bids.

Silly rumours Real Madrid want Dolberg in January and Barca want de Ligt also inJanuary. Ok 70m each and we can buy the Arena,v d Sar says we want to buy it. Neither player is ready for such clubs and lucky for us both are level headed and know they are not ready.

That comment there is interesting, SPL. If we are indeed looking to purchase the ArenA, it may go someway to explain why we're not spending (hardly) any of the money we are making.

It would make sense in financial terms to purchase the ArenA as I would imagine the income we receive from games and events would greatly increase if we owned the venue.

In regards to the transfers.. can someone turn down the likes of RM or Barca if they come knocking? I'm not so sure they (or us) can. You're right though, I think they will stay 1 more year (maybe 2)

The paper is famous for making up transfer stories. I doubt he would even make the bench at either club.

Lots of paper talk about de Ligt wanted by Barcelona in January .Overmars has told Barca no deal in January . de Ligt has already indicated he is not ready to leave us and would rather stay and play regularly than go and just be a bench warmer. His agent Barry Hulshoff has said he wont leave before next summer at the earliest.

de Ligt is very lucky that he is guided by Hulshoff and is a very level headed lad . He was quoted recently he still lives with his parents and is happy to but may try living on his own next year. I think by that he probably means get an apartment up the road from Abcoude in Amstelveen and not move abroad.

I see him staying until 2019 and possibly 2020. He still makes mistakes but is only just 18 and can only get better.

Read an article that claimed that De Ligt to Barca in January was a done deal -- 45 million price tag. Would be a huge mistake on De L's part if true.

That would be best for him and remember he just turned 18!!! The pressure on players at big clubs such as Barca is immense.
