Report: Referee Gianluca Rocchi suspended after Juventus's controversial 3-2 win over Roma

Following a performance that can be described as questionable at best, referee Gianluca Rocchi has reportedly been suspended for one month due to the controversial decisions he made during Juventus's 3-2 win over Roma on the weekend.

The fixture between Serie A's two top clubs saw Rocchi assign two red cards and seven yellow cards, while Roma manager Rudi Garcia was also sent to the stands for protesting one of the two debatable penalties that Juventus were awarded in the first half.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport and translated by Forza Italian Football, Rocchi has been banned for one month by the National Referees Commission while they analyze the penalty decisions awarded by Rocchi. He's expected to return on Nov. 2 but could apparently take the pitch again on Oct. 28 or Oct. 29.

Roma's players and supporters have cried foul since the final whistle blew on Sunday, with Francesco Totti's post-match comments leading the way. The iconic midfielder suggested that his side had been robbed, saying: "It’s a huge shame after a good performance. We came to Turin to play our game, but you saw what happened and that affected the match.

“For years the same old incidents keep happening. I don’t know if we were beaten by referees, but we certainly were not beaten by Juventus tonight.

“Yes, we are angry, but also aware we are a great team and must lift our heads straight away. This was a match we really cared about, but Juventus ought to have their own league, as by hook or by crook they always win."

"Are we back to the same doubts? I am not the only one saying this, as these are things everyone in Italy should discuss. With Juventus when there is any doubt whatsoever, it’s always a penalty. I have to stop now, as if I keep talking then I’ll get suspended.”

Nah... De tweede helft lag Chelsea wel boven hoor. Met kunst en vliegwerk bleef de bal er uit. De 3-4 zat echt al in de lucht.

Maar die 2x rood was natuurlijk een absolute aanfluiting. Blind ongelukkig en Veltman kan zijn arm niet laten oplossen. Beweegt hem zelfs volgens mij nog naar àchter zijn lijf.

Wat knap dat het 4-4 is gebleven.
