Why is that good news - sorry Ajax losing a player when they are losing is not good news - some Ajax supporter you appear to be

Yeah, total bullshit thing to say about a player who produced a pretty decent performance.

I find it difficult to be surprised or disappointed.

Coach with no club experience, no decent playmaker in midfield, no proper defender, a goalkeeper who is always unsure of himself.

Meanwhile we have four good attackers: Suarez, Suljemani, KJH, and Cvitanich. A luxury problem we can't afford. All that money on Cvitanich and he starts on the bench...

The team isn't balanced properly. Same problem as last year. Lot's of goals for, lot's of goals against.

I mean, seriously, why am I always pointing this shit out. It's getting tiring.

they showed more purpose being down a man than with a full team on the field. There is still a major problem in the midfield. Maybe Sarpong belongs on the starting 11. They didn't seem to be able to hook up in transition at all.

We know that there is going to be a lot of bumps on the road this season with such a young team and Willem is always tough at home. Let's put this one behind us and move on.

This wasn't much to be happy about, but I see no reason for blaming Sno. I would prefer him over any old, second rated Spanish player all the time. And I agree on the red card being a bit too hard from the referee.

I think Sarpong and van der Wiel looked quite okey when they came in at least, but that doesn't help much today.

I saw the Sno as a 50-50 challenge and their heads hit (but then it was a poor computer feed so I might be wrong).

I think Sarpong earns a start in the next match based on his energy.

Well... where to start?

Poor football from Ajax' side.
Some good quality in the offence gives us the goal.

Then Willem 2 took over.

And of story.

He got it because he came in with the elbow, and that's what he hit with, but still it didn't look like he did it attentionally...

Did not see the game as I was out but what a poor start. we do still need another quality defender by the sound of it.

Cvitanich may have been on the bench but surely he needs time to settle into European footy.

Anyway PSV scored 5 and I note the Utrecht goal was scored by a 17 year old who we let go this summer Rafael Uiterloo. Not good enough for our A1 team this season but good enough for Utrecht first team !!!!

The question is why Ajax could control the game rather easily in the first half but disappeared as soon as Willem II scored.

And Sno was rather good, which can't be said of the guy that was supposed to play on the left...

As Bryan said, the starting midfield was unbalanced. Not that they played badly, but there was no true offensive midfielder among them. Sarpong looked good when he came on. Either he or Aissati should start.

Other than that the lazy attitude of the team that has become ingrained over the last 4 odd years isn't going to go away overnight. But hopefully this result will put their feet firmly on the ground and they'll start to realise they shouldn't expect to win just by showing up.

Sno was unlucky. Peter Vink fucked up big time today, though Ajax fucked up even more. Karagbo's foul on Vertonghen was much more a red card than Sno's foul.

Anyway, main culprit of the evening - I give you Luis Suarez. Ajax should have been 2:0 up at the break but Suarez elected to shoot at goal when he could've set up KJH with an open goal chance. Marco needs to have a little word in Luis' ear along the lines of: Football is a team game, so pass the fucking ball to your team mates.

yeah long season

same problems as van Basten had with Oranje. Poor defence, that second goal never should have happened, Silva or Lindgren should have cleared it. Huntelaar got the ball fed to him maybe twice.

We still need another defender. Sulejmani looked alright. Sno didn't look too bad, I don't think he intentionally led with his elbow and shouldn't have gotten a straight red. He did suffer the same as the rest of the midfield in not being able to get any decent balls to Huntelaar. Hopefully we can figure that out.

I'm not going to pile on. Just very disappointed. Hope Aissati will get the start. Ditto Sarpong. Can't be any worse than today's mf.

KJH should get the hell out of this train wreck in slow motion if he knows what's good for him. Last day to do it. The way you guys played, there is no way in hell you're winning anything domestically forget in Europe.

We've already forgotten Europe.

I'm just tired of Ajax's inability to deal with their real problems. Year in - year out, the defense sucks, and Ajax's response is to go out and buy new strikers.

And at least we didn't lose and look like rubbish at home the way Milan did today losing 1-2 to a newly promoted Bologna team! Imagine if we had their budget and transfered in the kind of players they did an still lost!

the only other thing I wonder about is whether this team is suited to a 4-3-3 (I know it's historical). Given the problems we have with midfield, perhaps moving to either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 would give added support and linkage to the attack. Just a thought.
