Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:I actually think this pause can help us...it means that we may be able to get even closer to PSv by the team the game comes around..it could be a kind of final i we can shave another 3 points before the clash...off course it could also be the other way around...we could start fucking up again and be twelve points behind the light bilbs when we pay them a visit again..so i think its just up to us....PSV will loose some points on the way, im sure of it, we need to keep the pressure on and gain some ground then go for the kill when the time comes... :ajaxscarf.gif: :ajaxsmiley.gif:
I pretty much agree. We need to win out and hope PSV drops a game and then beat them to get on par anyway so it doesn't really matter when it's played. Tiredness from the Spurs game would have been nice, though, and we still may get something depending on when it's played and how they do in the UEFA cup.

Who knows, everyone might drop games again at the end like last year and it won't matter. :ajaxscarf.gif: :ajax.gif:

Right, it's Wednesday evening, 19 March.

That's good news: it's back on the agenda - with just ten days' delay.

In fact: there's a chance that the timing will be even better now. It's not unthinkable that Spurs do the business in Eindhoven and that PSV drop points at Roda this weekend. If Ajax beat Willem II it really will be 'game on'.

The 'bad' news is that I will be in New York City on a business trip on Wednesday the 19th. Don't get me wrong: a trip to New York is never bad news, but I really want to watch the game...

Do we have any New Yorkers here? Does anyone know a place in NYC that shows Ajax matches live? Kick-off is at 2:45 PM Eastern time, so not in the middle of the night or anything... Any recommendations?

It depends on who is showing the game(if at all). If it is on Setanta, then there might be a good chance of getting to see it. There is also a spanish/mexican channel (Telemundo)which was going to air the game this past sunday.

Where will you be living in the city?

I don't know where I will be staying (yet). The trip has only just been confirmed. No hotel booked yet. I'll let you know a.s.a.p.

In the meantime: here's Setanta's schedule for Wed 19 March. Seems we're out of luck: a re-run of Roda v PSV and an Eredivisie highlights show in the evening, but I wouldn't expect them to drop a Six Nations rugby match or Spurs vs Chelsea for PSV vs Ajax...

Yeah, unfortuanteley you're probably going to have to see who (if anyone) in the US is going to broadcast the game. Setanta Sports is the best bet, as the game has just been rescheduled, they may not have finalized things, so there could be a chance they still show it. The only thing to really do with them is to keep checking their schedules. My guess is if they do show it, it will be delayed.

In addition to the traditional broadcast channel, Setanta also has Setanta Broadband that they stream over the Internet. The programming is usually slightly different than the North America channel, and they actually have two broadband broadcasts when there are conflicting events on. There's a chance they may show it here, but you'll need Internet access and it's a paid subscription, so it may not be worth it for a one time thing.

As Amol mentioned Telemundo is a Spanish language channel and occasionally shows Eredivisie games. Although, I think the only one I remember them showing in the last two years was last years PSV/Ajax game in Eindhoven. I haven't seen them show any this year, so it's probably a long shot.

Welcome to America! :ajaxsmiley.gif:

That's what we have to deal with week in and week out for coverage. Which means the only way you can actually watch it live is to stream it over the Internet. If that's an option for you, in all likelihood it's the only way you'll be able to see the game here, unfortunately.

Hmmm. Well, at least I'll have my unofficial live 'match ticker' on my cellphone, provided by my mates who will probably send me five text messages a minute or something... This is also the only match ticker in Holland with a 'parental advisory' label... :biggrin.gif:

Worst case scenario. If you have an PC and internet connection available, you can always try to stream it in iPod size screen from myp2p...then claim the bill on tax of course. Work expense :ajaxsmiley.gif:

Although looks like some of the guys had problems with it last week so maybe not...

You can also try looking up pubs that might show the match (http://www.setantanorthamerica.com/venue_finder.aspx) on Setanta. Even if Setanta doesn't show this particular match, they might have other channels at that particular pub that show it.

Someone gave me the name of the place I think I'm looking for: it's called the Smiths Nevada (3rd Ave., between 11th and 12th Streets). Supposed the be the number one place for football in NYC. Paraphrasing Frank Sinatra: "If you can't watch it there, you can't watch it anywhere" (in NYC, that is). I dropped them an e-mail. Will keep you guys in the loop...

Yeah Nevada Smiths will show it if there is some channel showing it. The problem is to get some channel to actually show it. You can follow their schedule here -

Ajax thread on xtratime.org states that Steek's father died.

I'm in New York City at the moment and the bad news is that I will miss the whole game... I will take a cab to JFK at 2PM (Eastern) and my flight is at 5PM. So, unless there is a sports bar at the airport that shows the game... (which I'm sure there isn't)...

Very frustrating. I will not find out about the result until tomorrow morning, when I arrive at Schiphol... Damn. I will go crazy on that plane.

I'm not complaining, by the way. I've had two great days in NYC. It was sunny, no wind; great weather to wander through the East Village and spend loads of cash on albums and books. Right now it's pissing down, which is always a good thing on the last day: it makes you want to go home (where it's also pissing down, by the way).

Anyway: COME ON AJAX, let's do this!

Ko is out of luck, I suppose... BUT... This game IS being shown (delayed) on Setanta US, according to their online schedule.

Wed 19 Mar: 07:00 pm Eastern (4pm Pacific): Eredivisie - PSV vs. Ajax (SDC)

:headbang.gif:

The trivial irony is that the last time Ajax played PSV, I was the one on a plane from US to NL. I landed and immediately learned that they'd f*cked it up. Cruijff-willing, Ko arrives to happier news...

I've read that, but I'm not convinced... Might be a 'smoke curtain'. I won't be surprised if he walks out of that tunnel this evening, 100% fit.

Can't you check Ajax Netwerk with a mobile phone ? (that might be expensive from the US, but a plane is not a good place to go crazy... ;-)

My mates will keep me posted with text messages, but I have to board and switch my phone off during the half-time break, I think... And then I will be 'cut off' from the rest of the world for seven or eight hours...

I had that once and when I switched my phone back on I received 6 messages telling me that Ajax had lost 5-1 to Heerenveen.

The horror.
