Yeah. It's about time we think of an insulting chant, to tell him that he's shit... We're actually a little bit late with it, to be honest. He missed a major chance in the third minute, so we should have started our creative process then.

;)

Will be very interesting how this guy does perform on Sunday as on the few occasions that I have seen him he hasn't really impressed. Also if he is really 9m euor's good why hasn't he played for the national team - if Babel can, it makes me wonder why he hasn't. Also by himself he will be unable to turn the season around.

I only hope that this wasn't a panic buy.

Although it may seem strange, history recalls that panic buys happen in summer rather than winter. (another one-liner)
No worry then.

Have seen quite a bit of of Huntelaar on Talpa and downloaded Torrents; very impressed by his Technical level. Some of the goals he has scored are similar to some of Bergkamp's best.

Babel was selected to play on the wing and not as a striker.

Don't worry OPH, this boy is class. :xyxthumbs:

Huntelaar plays for the youth national team, and the senior team has guys like Ruud, Kuyt, Van Persie, Makaay etc.

I'm sure he'll score for us against NEC

and if he doesn't, the only possible explanation is that he is complete shit and a waste of money. :xyxthumbs:

But that's the sort of attitude we shoudl TRY to lose lads :xyxthumbs:

In an Interview, Ibrahimovic told the Italian media that he felt relaxed in Juve because "the coach welcomed me with a warm heart, he said I was first pick and there was no pressure. At Ajax the pressure from the fans, media and club was way too much"

Let's give the Hunter some time reload his big juicy gun.Yum.

The problem is on the wings, specially the left wing. Buying Huntelaar for 9 mio was not the priority thhis winter, or better, shouldn't have been

I agree with you Lucas : we now have 4 or 5 strikers but no decent winger.
Very weird and so far unsuccessful strategy.

4 or 5 strikers = goals!

We've got 4 or 5 strikers who can't score goals!

REASON; THEY HAVE NO SERVICE!

MR BLIND! OPEN YOUR F**KING EYES! THE STRIKERS NEED SERVICE! GET YOUR F**KING JOB DONE OR F**K OFF!

I've been thinking about our latest buy. Why did we actually buy this lad? We had Rosenberg (bought this summer) and Charisteas (bought not too long ago). Both are of high quality, Charisteas proved that earlier and Rosenberg is starting to prove that now. We also had Babel. And Anastasiou as back-up.

We need decent wingers badly, and some defenders as well. Everyone was aware of that.

Was buying Huntelaar (whom I have no doubt in, he's a good striker) just to satisfy the fans? Did Ajax buy 'the Hunter' just to show that Ajax are opening the money bag to solve the goal scoring problem, even though what we really would need is someone to provide the strikers with decent passes?

I hope Huntelaar will start scoring like a mad man, and solve our problems. But I'm not sure that'll happend. We could have gotten some very good players for those millions. Now we got one very good striker. A striker we didn't really need, in my opinion.

EDIT: after reading this thread a bit more, I now see that most of you have been commenting this already.

I just put up a bunch of new news links on the Ajax USA homepage (including the latest stories on Escudé and De Jong, so check 'em out). One article deserved a special mention, namely this one:

http://www.uefa.com/magazine/news/Kind= ... 83257.html

Huntelaar class shines through, a very good player profile and a really enjoyable read!

I think that Jakobg is wrong about the Hunter, firstly Babel is very young and we cant put too much pressure on him, Charisteas was a panick buy, and now we dont need to panick so he should leave, same goes for Yannis, who works his socks off bless him, but he is only a back up striker which we dont need now, while Rosenberg needs more time to adopt to the Ajax system, Huntelaar is used to wingers.

Quote from UEFA.com

"Danny Blind’s team lacked goals, and the coach needed a strong striker to enable a switch of formation from 4-4-2 to a quintessential Ajax 4-3-3."

TO a 4-4-2 FROM a 4-3-3 WHEN WAS THIS?

When the best service in Amsterdam is happening in the Red Light District and not on the football pitch...i.e. our lack of wing players and indifferent build-up in midfield...I'm not sure how much at fault Klaas is.I'll see for myself v. RBC and Inter on next months holiday. Another thing, is his presence creating any space for the likes of Rosenberg?

He has played two games, mate. Two league games and one silly friendly.

Give the guy a break.
